  1. I've found a few interesting things over the years. I found a full crosscut saw about 3/4 buried. It had obviously been left behind by a logging crew at the turn of the century. The handles had long ago rotted but the blade was in good shape. Still have it. I found a well rusted mill file lying next to the base of a tree. Figured someone sat down to sharpen their crosscut and left the file behind. I came across an old hog pin once and it was about 1000' elevation climb from the nearest road or trail I'd say those people lived in isolation I found a lid to an iron skillet or Dutch oven. I found it near an old homesite in Morgan county, again a LONG way from any roads. Probably would have been an all day horse ride to the nearest town. It was missing a piece but could still see all the stamping. It was made in Knoxville. I've come across railroad tracks in areas that otherwise would seem impossible to get rail cars too. Usually could locate and old small saw mill nearby. A good indication is a pile of dark dark black dirt. This was the saw dust pile that has decayed. Numerous fossils, especially around old strip mines.
  2. 1) Fly fish in Patagonia 2) kill an elk (preferably MT, ID, AK) 3) Fly fish for large salmon in the northwest. 4) Fly Fish in the Caribbean from a flats boat 5) Shoot an antelope from long distance 6) Kill anything on the continent of Africa (thanks nightrunner for the reminder)
  3. I'm glad this was resolved to your satisfaction. However you last question is very valid.
  4. I saw one at Gander Mountain a while back. Felt nice but obviously I didn't shoot it. If I was going to buy a compact 9mm I would look into the new Sig p938. I thought the Solo was kinda if heavy for its size. I also didn't see much advantage over just carrying a glock 26 or M&P 9c.
  5. Rat Snake As already stated, not poisonous but can be very aggressive.
  6. Isn't it obvious? He was a grown adult, with a gun, preying on an innocent school child! Come on Mike do you want our Tennessee college students to wind up dead like Treyvone? If not we better say "NO" to the parking lot bill
  7. no, its the parking lot bill, which includes college campuses. I still believe that students living on campus will not be allowed to poses guns, but I'm not 100% on that. I hate seeing delusional LEO especially those in such high position

    Out of stock

    You never go "full retard"
  9. This^^^^ if the gun is not shooting accurate no amount of ammo down the pipe will change that. However if the problem is the "nut behind the grip", then that could change with more range time. I just bought a PX4sc from Jonnin and found that I was shooting low too, both DA and SA, but this was due to my preconceived notion of where the sight picture should be, from shooting other had guns. I found that it had a dead point of aim/point of impact, so even at 25 feet you need to cover the target with the front sight. The only way to truly check the accuracy of the gun is to shoot it from a rest. If all else fails, Id try that.
  10. I kind of lean towards...either or both. I think the 9mm with 2 mags would be sufficient for most anything. but I am more concerned about aggressive hogs than bears. and hitting and stopping a hog with a 9mm might take the whole magazine. considering the weight you will be carrying and the short overall distance, I wouldn't hesitate to carry the .454. but either way chances are you'll be fine as long as you can hit what you're shooting at
  11. Tomo's is still good. They used to have half price on Thursday from 5-7. I'm not sure if that still goes on. But I still like their sushi.
  12. Man I can feel your frustration. I hope it's right this time. I would be livid.
  13. Seem to me no one will rest until Zimmerman is nothing short of executed. Should he have approached the boy, no, if he hadn't they would both be alive and well today. But I'm still not sure he broke the law. Abc news is reporting Treyvon went for Zimmerman's gun when Z approached him and asked what he was doing. I believe Zimmerman was irresponsible but to what level I'm not sure.
  14. Yes and unfortunately, I'm a long way from the top
  15. I do this often as well. Works great for dust and dirt.
  16. 1911 forum - USGI Subforum Here is a forum full of people who own these models. Some shoot em some don't. Also a lot of good info on how to authenticate such pistols. http://forums.1911forum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=30
  17. You'll be fine. No one will call the cops. And if they do, just have your permit an you're fine. ...or just conceal it
  18. When shooting amoung multiple people who may be saving their brass, it can alow you to identify yours vs theirs. And as stated you can mark different recipes of the same load. It's not a big issue, just something some guys like to do.
  19. I'm interested to see how this works out. I'm sure it will work, I just want to see how efficient the application is and what the results look like. Are you going to dye the whole base of the casing?
  20. Hahaha, yes. I knew it sounded wrong , but just couldn't put it together.
  21. Welcome, glad to have you. Dot worry once you graduate and get a real job, it makes shooting a lot more doable.
  22. Oh I see. Yeah it seems like a "Johnny Appleseed" look how accurate our gun is. Pretty stupid
  23. It's a close combat drill. You draw and fire while retreating. He is the first I've ever seen actually put his hand in the target. But the principal is still the same.
