Ask them where one gets this CCW permit as TN only issues a HCP.

Easy, "design by committee" combined with program managers that don't know or care how the product is supposed to work and are only concerned with budgets and timelines. Been there, done that. :wall:

Interesting. There's an ad for it in the most recent American Rifleman I got a few days ago. I had no idea it was such a lemon.

Its population control not hunting, but that's perfectly fine with me. I'll be honest and say a lot of what others call "hunting", I think is more akin to "harvesting", but that's neither here nor there. Seems like a great way for SWAT and/or SpecOps guys to practice shooting moving targets from a helicopter.

They don't call it "carrying a hog leg" for nothing. I think Mr. Darwin needs to work a little harder on some of those people. And yes, that song is hilarious! But thinking a little more.... look at how fast some of that happens. If you were stupid (or just unlucky) enough to get that close... could you draw and fire accurately before one of those critters got you?

If I ever build a house, it'll have a berm with an alarm and an over-flow outlet connected to the drain line under every water containing appliance. Given the expense to fix damage caused by water leaks, I've never understood why houses don't have floor drains under the fridge and in the laundry room at a minimum. I'd put one in each bathroom too.

Figures. First time I ever ordered from them was last week. I thought the shipping was a touch high, but the fact that they had all the stuff I wanted beat getting it from 2 places.

Unique Way of Storing Char Cloth.

Cool (or hot, depending on your perspective). -
Ricochets are much more likely with logs. I understand you said they're rotten, but bullets could still easily skip off the surface. If it was mine, I'd bury those logs with a dump truck load of fill dirt.

Cool. I've never really tried archery other than getting the Boy Scout badge. I try to keep an eye out for a deal on a bow.

It's all about the infrastructure. Cars became big in a time when businesses and the government were willing to invest in the infrastructure necessary to realize their goals. Today, we can't even be bothered to repair our crumbling infrastructure, much less invest in something completely different. The payback period is longer than our attention span and the technology is changing much too fast. I've said this a bunch of times previously.... Saving the world won't be popular until it's profitable.

I got a ticket and missed my court date! Freaking out a little!
peejman replied to Ladyhay's topic in General Chat
Yes, you probably have a warrant now. Same thing happened to a friend except he misread the date on the ticket. Lucky for him, another friend was also in court that day and witnessed the judge issue the warrant for failure to appear. He called my friend who immediately called the judge's office to plead his case. He did eventually get out of the warrant based on the illegible date on the ticket, but still had to go to court and do traffic school. I'd suggest you call the Decatur Sheriffs office and/or the court house and find out what the story is. -
As I'm the only one with a paying job, that wouldn't go too well for her...

Manufacturing of the a large number of the sub components (forgings, castings, rubber, plastic, some finished assemblies), just like the auto makers. While the final assembly may be here, the pieces come from all over the world.

I just wish I felt like I had a spare $300 to drop on a case of ammo. My wife doesn't mind me buying ammo, but she does mind when the credit card bill comes due.

I don't connect to unsecure wifi signals.

Meh. Marketing stunt, nothing more. Obviously their typical customer base will have no interest in it. The dedicated (and well heeled) few will buy one because it says "HD" on it. They need something to general some interest after booting Buell.

Great suggestion. If the reception is somewhere else, go there too. Though I'd suggest you ask first, rather than sneak. ;)

The Abrams Creek campground has been closed for a couple years. If you're after 20-30 miles, BSF or GSMNP are your best options. If you want solitude, avoid the AT trail shelters in the park.

That's a good flash. Bouncing flash is pretty simple, you just have to be aware of your surroundings and where the ambient light is coming from. Sometimes the ceiling is best, sometimes a side wall works better. A diffuser can also help to soften the light. In a pinch, several layers of scotch tape works too. That said, the 1.4 should do pretty well on it's own. I'd guess you'd only really need the flash if doing a big group (wedding party + family, etc.) or maybe during the reception if there's dancing.

Which version of camping.... backpacking, primitive tent camping, car camping, RV'ing (when bring the whole house, that no longer qualifies as "camping" in my book :) )? The major camp grounds in GSMNP are all very nice and stay busy for that reason. You can carry in the national park, but you cannot carry in any park building that's properly posted (most are). Back country camp sites are also nice but require reservations. Obviously there's plenty of hiking in the park. Indian Boundary, Frozen Head, Big South Fork, Joyce Kilmer, are all nice as well. Plenty of hiking at all of these but expect trails to be a bit more over-grown than what you'll find in the park. Best of my knowledge, you can carry anywhere that's not posted. If you want to go further east, Grayson Highlands and Mt. Rogers in VA are good places to go. Beyond that, there's a million other little campground scattered all over the place.

A coworker fishes up there regularly. There are some really big trout in there. He hooked one about 14" long but dropped it trying to land it in the rocks. He said it was so big he thought the line was hung on a tree underwater... until the tree started moving. I'd like to learn to fly fish as well.

Looks like a normal P-51D (or later) to me. The P-51 always had a 4 bladed prop. The F4U Corsair switched from 3 blade to 4 with the -4 model. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_P-51_variants
