  1.     If you're ever on a plane that loses an engine on take-off, you won't think that other one is grossly over-powered.    "Rotate" means the nose wheel leaves the ground and the plane begins to take off.  That's generally the point of no return unless the plane is on an exceptionally long runway.    Yes, flying at low altitude burns through fuel at an astounding rate.
  2. Welcome!  Nice toys.
  3. Hope it goes well.  My wife's grandfather had his hip replaced several years ago.  Other than getting pretty loopy on the meds (which was hilarious     ), he did fine.  He's in his mid 80's and remains very active.
  4.         Any objective proof?  Scientific studies or other data that reaches such conclusions?   I'm not trying to be an arse, I'd just like to see some data that amounts to more than hand waving followed by unsupported conclusions.  I'm nerdy like that.
  5. This looks like a pretty good reason to me...
  6.     Given that there has been no claim of responsibility, I think this was practice.  Whoever did it is simply practicing for something bigger to come later.  They found a relatively low security airline and tried their plan to see if it would work.  So far, it would appear it has.              A 777 is a big airplane, but Earth is a pretty big place.  It could be anywhere by now.
  7. I heard an interested idea today....   Seems there are controls for the cabin oxygen system in the cockpit.  The conspirators could have put on masks, turned the O2 system off, depressurized the cabin, and killed everyone on board quickly and painlessly.    It becomes a flying hearse in less than 5 minutes.
  8. Welcome!
  9.     I generally do the same thing.  And a big +1 to the safety glasses....  You never know where that jet of carb cleaner might come squirting out from, and a face full of carb cleaner sucks.  AMHIK....
  10. Agreed, I'd do that too if the console was big enough. But I like your idea on the front of the seat.
  11. Except its not CCA anymore, it's Tactical Advantage now. Either way, they can do it. As can Predator Custom. Send a pm to lawenforcementsalestn here, I'd guess Mike can do it was well.
  12. What everyone else said about ethanol and small engines. It's bad mmmmmkay. If cleaning the carb doesn't fix it, sometimes you can buy a whole new carb surprisingly cheap on eBay. I got an ignition module for my ancient homelite saw off eBay a year or so ago.
  13. A cousin is a reserve officer in Michigan. He seems to enjoy the work. The perk of being able to carry anywhere is nice too. They don't seem to have a program like that around here.
  14. Cool stuff. Reminds me of this... http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=G3QrhdfLCO8
  15. I agree that it looks like the one you linked. If you think you can flip it or don't mind hanging onto it, go for it. Price seems absurd to me unless it's very rare and/or hand made, but I have no idea what the market is like for boutique knives. Personally, I'd take a case of ammo over it any day.
  16. Pics please. :)
  17. Which illustrates my frustration with all the "it's been 30 seconds, why can't they find it?" sentiment. That plane was 20 minutes beyond radar coverage on it's intended flight path when it went down. For all intents and purposes they knew exactly where it was when it went down and it still took 5 days to find it. The ocean is a big place. Sorry, rant over.
  18.     Yep.    Romantic comedies.... only when there's a couple smokin' hot sex scenes.
  19.     The system is built into the airplane and the engine management software.  It's a normal thing for any modern jet engine, particularly the really big expensive ones on a jumbo jet.  The engine management computer sends data on it's operating parameters back to the manufacturer/operator via satellite transmissions so they can anticipate any problems and schedule maintenance so the airplane doesn't suffer a failure and get stranded somewhere it can't be readily fixed.    The OnStar app where your car talks to your phone does the same thing.
  20. Yes, he's a few feet behind it to make it look bigger, but look at the size of the head relative to the leaves on the ground near it.  That's a big pig.  I do wonder what's holding it's head up like that though...
  21. Yep. Haven't bought anything yet, but it's a pretty nice thing.
  22. You guys just aren't on "the list"...... yet.
  23. Good for everyone! I smoked for a while then switched to chew for a while. I always thought dipping was just plain gross... sucking on worm dirt... Between the pictures in the dentist's office and just getting tired of it, I quit a long time ago. Quitting for me was no big deal, I'm glad I quit early. Now I can't stand the smell of cigarettes or chew, but I enjoy the smell of a pipe.
  24.     Or a minivan...  :panic:     You might be amazed at what you can haul in a minivan.
  25. Looks like the attention whore will be getting plenty of it from 500 of his new best friends.
