  1. Leroy, are you on a first-tweet basis with the Donald?
  2. Hi all, I wanted to share a recent experience with this organization, which started 3/2017. My 75B Omega needed to be fixed, I decided on CGW based on reviews and was curious to compare the finished product to my CZC SDP. Side note: prefer the Omega trigger, the SDP is standard so I can't give an unbiased comparison. The triggers and frames are just different enough that it is mood vs. preference in selection. CGW manages imbound work to ensure promised turn and delivery times. I was notified about 6 weeks after initial contact, "if you are still interested, we are ready and will deliver in 6 - 8 weeks (for my project) Received it back 6/2017; they installed their Omega kit. GtG was happy. Recently ran it through a Randy class, still happy EXCEPT, one occurrence of: DA trigger pull, hammer cocks and drops to half cock, release trigger to reset, hammer falls to rest. Tap and rack, last I thought of it. Popped off a few hundred more rounds of dry and live fire, above malfunction repeated more than 5, less than 10 times In dry fire, I tried to make it fail, increasing / decreasing speed of and number of trigger pull strings (did fail) Shoot an email off to CGW. Response within 24 hours, we think we know what the problem is (DA Roller) here is a FedEx label, send it in. Excellent customer service. My expectations; 6-8 weeks, place me in order with your work flow and I don't expect to bump someone who waited patiently like I did. Wait time was maybe 10 days, receive a call from Scott. Ready to go and will have it 6/28. Exceeded expectations as David and team are prepared for after the sale service work. It was the DA roller, just one of those things. Fitted a better sized and machined part. Fitted in that Scott took an extended period of time troubleshooting to find the optimal size roller by dry firing to ensure his gunsmithing was spot on. Very apologetic it had to go back, but who cares, since he told me the DA is now "pretty darn good." Shows the level of professionalism, trouble shoot, don't just replace parts. Another GtG win in this scenario. CGW met service expectations on the original project, exceeded expectations on the service work and quality is top notch. I asked Scott what else could be done to the pistol. Figured since they had it, I was willing to let them make some money off me. Other than a barrel bushing for 25+ yard accuracy, sights, grips, and refinishing, it's done. Will update after I use it up this weekend
  3. In Hombrecito's Search and Hombrecito's War, the .45-70 is the main characters rifle of choice
  4. To the last man by Jeff Shaara is quite good for anyone interested in WW1. Will check this one out next time I'm on the road traveling. Gone for soldiers is also by Jeff, stand alone Mexican-American War, starring many of your favorites of the Civil War.
  5. One of my favorites
  6. Was over at SIA today and got to handle one. First impression; hefty like my SP, with a pretty sizable grip. The surface didn't feel particularly smooth and the sharp edges, especially on the trigger guard was not inspiring. After being disappointed in the finish, I simply set it back down without dry firing. I would have bought one of their used SPs for $499 vs. $799 (I think) for the Colt. Side note; they have 2 new MP40 9mm in stock $599. Seemed to be well assembled extremely large pistol. Don't need a $600 novelty gun, but it would complement my PPS 43c. Now I'm thinking about layaway...
  7. I'm a historical fiction / plausible alternative history fan, with a lot of other stuff on my shelf. A good setting is as important to me as a good plot, with a vivid imagination I can transport to Agnicourt, 1632, the Napoleonic Wars to modern day locales. Series I'm working through: Eric Flint's 1632 Cromwell's Sharpe adventures Waiting on Martin to put out the next GOT novel, but having watched past the books, not sure I even care.
  8. Video killed the radio star. This will kill sellers as they hire for / pay for the staff or technology for tax collection and remittance. I wonder how many out of country sellers will happily collect and never remit.
  9. David and team are awesome. Having examples from both, I prefer CGW over CZC.
  10. I think CGW has DIY YouTube videos linked in their site.
  11. I have one of them millennials in my basement. Whether it's generational or how he was raised, I've never detected the first bit of exclusiveness based on sex, orientation, religion, skin color, heritage, etc. He includes or excludes based on words and actions, individual by individual. I believes he subscribes to the notion that judging a person by the group is for peawits.
  12. Hippest tuba solo ever?
  13. Have never done a FoF, not sure our ground is appropriate. Thanks for the 2 day suggestion!
  14. just saw my first one feeding on the second blooming of our Rose of Sharon Hope it will find the feeder on the front porch. We typical get one constant visitor who doesn't seem to bring friends along
  15. We can offer a 2 day course with focus on a primary weapon, more specifically handgun. Short range carbine and shotgun lends itself to a one day due to the topography. We're a little limited to the extend of long gun drills. Another option is a pistol based class day 1 and a complementary, but stand alone course on day 2. What would encourage you to attend?
  16. Nothing is off the table at this time
  17. I have a 19 cut to a 26; the longer slide / shorter grip increases the forces for muzzle flip. I agree a shorter grip height makes for better concealment, but a 19 isn't that much smaller than a 17.
  18. Looking to late September into November, is there any interest in another training opportunity with Randy Harris? Content: open to suggestions, Randy has structured courses to cover a wide variety of topics. One day topics we've done in the past: Co-ed attendance (thank you Mrs. GtG for being the hostess with the mostest), defensive markmanship, pistol skills assessment, short range carbine and shotgun, and most recently Point Blank Pistol Skills. Hope you will consider attending!
  19. The liberal news is using this! It is the gun, if a highly trained armed professional can have a ND, anyone and everyone can and probably will. Sickening
  20. It's not a warzone, but visit areas of high public housing and don't be caught unprepared. The 81 - 40 - 75 corridor makes Knoxville / Chattanooga high on the list for drug trafficking. Safe to assume that the gang activity and drug sales siphon off into our communities.
  21. JThanks to everyone who attended the first official Harris Combative Strategies training seminar in the Valley. Got to attach screen names to people I've met, ChancesR and Ghost Dog. Does Byrl have a TGO nom de guerre? George (the property owner and first class brother in law) had a great experience, which was my concern. Randy exhibited his low key personal instruction as George has zero formal training and noovice level with his Glock 17. Safety was rock solid; briefing, pat down, sims guns and with increased awareness and vigilance, no one recieved a lead infusion. 4 - 4.5 hours of dry work, including interaction with another student. At low speed, applying gross motor skills, we got to work with against a live person to acquire better position. Builds awareness of other options since not everyone need to be shot. Make space, reduce space, move / pull an arm or even administer a manly slap across the face. Gain access to your weapon and run away or engage. 1.5 - 2.0 hours of shooting from 3, 2, 1 against the tacman from the 2, 3, 4 draw positions. Randy makes learning fun and I had fun. Ran my 75B Omega with no malfunctions. What can you do with a 36oz pistol and CGW 3.5# SA trigger? Shoot the crap out of it. Side note: larger pistols and loaded out mags can make for wonderful blunt striking weapons.
  22. Despite the rep of Memphis, it is a major metropolitan city. There are areas of Knoxville I don't drive through, day or night, armed or otherwise.
  23. Weather looking good, will post an update on ground conditions this evening. I should be there by 8:30 to start registration and distribute the course outline. Please note, this is the first official training session in the Valley for Harris Combative Strategies. My cell is 865 919 3909, reception in the valley is intermittent. I want this to be a great experience for you, so please call or text anytime with questions or concerns. I will also add, you can't bring to much "stuff" If you think you might need it, bring it. Other than humping it to and from house to vehicle, parking is close and accessible to shooting area (I still can't quite call it a range) Pull in, turn to the right, pass through the gate. After class I'm planning on running a few mags through my M1 Carbine to see how the new extractor is holding up. Feel free to bring anything you need or want to function test... Don't forget to bring a backup and mags for it in case your primary goes down
  24. When does an 18yo become at expert on anything due to one traumatic experience?
  25. Inquiring minds want to know (and a legimate buyer will provide proof of identity / address and sign a BoS if required / requested)
