  1. As a programmer all I can say is download and install this patch over the last patch and you'll be good to go until the next patch.
  2. I had very much the opposite experience with Sig regarding a P232 with a take down lever issue. I am not the original owner of the pistol, but the warranty documentation that came in the box claims it's transferable. They declined to honor that particular provision. When pressed they required a $200 cleaning fee followed by parts and labor for the repair. I could buy a new one for the repair price they quoted. That pistol sits on the Wall of Shame to this day. I have no experience with Beretta's service.
  3. It's all sleet and ice in Inglewood. I don't have the first snowflake. There has been a heavy sleet shower for the last 45 minutes or so. My car and truck both look iced shut from the looks of it out of my dining room window.
  4. I bought a Leupold 15-45x60mm spotter on Woot for about $150 a couple years ago. They have them periodically if you're into watching a-deal-a-day type sites. Their models will of course change around and there's no telling when they'll run some more, but they're usually a pretty good price.
  5. If you don't mind going up to Old Hickory, a coworker has done well at Old Hickory Garage at OHB and 30th. I went there a couple weeks ago for a minor issue and got taken good care of. I'm planning on going in for some real work in the coming month. He's a very country guy and had an open box of 22 laying on his desk.
  6. If it's a wizard with a gun you're after, here you go. http://paulbielaczyc.com/art-galleries-2/color-gallery/counter-this/ Disclosure: The artist is a buddy of mine.
  7. Try woot.com for cheap and good enough. They frequently have returned and refurbished laptops and desktops for good prices. You might have to watch them for a week or two before finding something you want. Best to check in the morning when goodies are dumped in the trough before they start selling out. I got my mom an Asus laptop with an Intel i3 in it for $300 recently. It's plenty capable of exchanging email and showing funny cat pictures, and it's a giant leap forward from her circa 2001 computer.
  8. Specifically, Blizzard likes to use P2P for updates to its games. Once your son downloads an update, he automatically uploads it to others as needed. There's a button to turn it off somewhere in the game on a per game basis. Netflix, Amazon Instant, and other streaming movie/TV services eat a lot too if you have any of those. Beyond that there's likely a problem either of the fibbing or malware kind.
  9. I had Carpet Den from Cool Springs replace the carpet in my townhouse recently. Good price. Good carpet. Good installation. And they went easy on the freshly painted walls. Solid job.
  10. I have an old midtower ATX case with power supply if you swing through Nashville. Free for the taking. If you can wait another three weeks or so while I get settled from my move across town, I'll swap it out for you too. Case and power supply are available now if you can't wait.
  11. Download a copy of Ubuntu Desktop, and burn it to disc. Try booting from that and select the "Try Ubuntu" option. Don't install. If it makes it to the Ubuntu desktop, the problem is probably in Windows somewhere. If it fails part way, it's probably a hardware problem. No guarantee either way, but it's an easy test for most skill levels.
  12. Two lowers, please.
  13. There is a place in Nashville called Preservation Station which carries antique and reclaimed building materials which have architectural interest. Chattanooga has a similar place, but I can't remember the name. They're listed in the yellow pages under antique, reclaimed, and used architectural materials. There might be a similar store near you.
  14. I have considered doing something similar in my area. I was pointed to the NRA Range Source Book as a good starting point. I had many of the same questions you have. The book answered some for me and opened up plenty new questions. For some questions it simply pointed out who could answer for my locality. The book is available in dead tree and CD formats. I opted for the CD because it's cheaper, and I can search a PDF automatically. http://rangeservices.nra.org/sourcebook.aspx
  15. I had to resubmit my c&r to order one. Their website no longer recognized it or most other information in my account. I emailed a fresh copy last night and was able to order an M38 by midafternoon. I don't know why they lost all my info since last year, but my account was made ready to buy inside a day. All is well that ends well. Now to watch for the courier!
  16. I did some shopping around two months ago. Farmers didn't offer additional coverage. State Farm offered additional coverage with some bonuses. Their base offering that comes with the home owner's policy covered fire or theft at home only. The extra coverage additionally handled things like firearms walking off at the range when you turn your back for a moment. I haven't heard of it happening but they claimed to cover it. Another thing about State Farm was their additional coverage was only good on firearms and not accessories. If an AR walked off, it is covered but not its scope. I couldn't get a feel for exactly where they drew the line. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
  17. I haven't decided what to do with it yet. I have a m44 in very nice shape already. I'm thinking of fixing the minimum (replace missing screw) and leaving the wear and tear. It's been a good conversation starter. Everyone wants to know what happened to it. A new stock is an option, but it needs some reblueing too if I was to refurbish it like that. One day .... 18. I ordered a 53 from Aim last week for $150, and it arrived last night. They're listed as out of stock today. Mine is in very rough shape. It's closer to fair condition than good. The blueing is mostly gone, and the stock looks like it doubled as a club. There are many chunks taken out of the wood, and someone began carving a word in it. The barrel was loose, but then I noticed it was only because someone has partially loosened a retaining clip. So I was thinking I had made a bum purchase. Then I noticed the serial numbers match. So I've decided I did alright after all. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
