And I'll admit; ever since Sig told me I'd pay shipping both ways for a disconnector that crumbled in under 500 rounds on my $1,200 Nightmare Carry, I have some serious doubts about their commitment to quality. Combine that with the machining on the inside of that pistol, and I genuinely wonder what they would actually let out the door with their logo on it.

Oh, I am not arguing against the fact that there are a lot of other reasons to dislike Sig Sauer.  My personal beef with them is that they will release a new handgun that makes you think, "Oh I should buy this!" only to release an evolved version of that same gun a year later that makes you think "I should have waited for this one instead."

Has anyone seen anything or experience with the Sig P320 discharging without the trigger being pulled.

Saw on Ch, 4 News just now that there have been several instances of this happening. The guy on the news said he was getting out of his truck,

when the pistol fired hitting him in the leg, causing a serious injury. Had a scar from his knee down his lower leg, He said the bullet is still in his Fibula.

From what I've read, the safety in front of the trigger, that most have is not there due to the design.

Thoughts??

I've owned/own several from base, legion, X models,  personal builds,  etc... since the platform was introduced with zero issues whatsoever. I've not bothered to maintain a combined round count, but it's substantial to say the least... Full disclosure,  a couple i babied but I've ran most like Harleys on a rough piece of road. I know many shooters who also own various weapons from this series and none have commented to any safety or function issues. Some complaints to "feel" or preference,  as we all have had with weapons that just "weren't my cup of tea."

I'm not a Sig fan fanboy, though I do prefer them over some weapons... again, it's a preference thing. I will say all the negative press was initially disconcerting. But,  given the numbers of these weapons in circulation compared to relatively few instances... many of which being questionable... You're an adult and you can sort out where your opinion falls. Personally,  I will continue to shoot and carry the 320 variants as part of my EDC and range rotation.

From what I've read, the issue was the lack of the safety normally in front of the trigger. There was not one. They changed this for the military, but not the civilian edition.

True or false, or somewhere in between, I dont know. Never owned one.

Has anyone here ever sent a 320 to Sig for warranty?

I have previously posted in other threads around service warranty work that imo Sig is the most difficult company to work with for various reasons, but before adding something around a 320 experience, curious if anyone has any experience with them on this platform.

Sig has always been excellent the half a dozen times I requested service on their weapons.  Have owned quite a few in various platforms.

Concerning the "uncommanded" discharges; am still waiting for a gun involved to be inspected and the results posted.  Without that happening through a qualified independent agent it is pointless to speculate on the cause.

I suspect none of the guns involved in the videos will ever be properly inspected and found to be unmodified P320s

I’ve sent in a 320 not long after they first came out.  Mine had trigger slap so bad I could not put more than a couple mags through it.  They sat on it awhile and after I finally called them to see where it was, got it moving and back to me.  They did fix the issue and pay for shipping so I guess it could have been worse.

Yes, mine came with the red dot which went back.

My only problem was that they somehow retained my address from over 12 years ago in Sacramento.  They sent the repaired red dot there and it was thus lost.  They did make it right with an apology and a new red dot.  One 1911 went back and came back fine.  A p365 went back for a front sight replacement and got it back speedily and properly repaired.

Possibly none of that matters to some people.  Overall I would give them a B

The safety on the M17 is not on the trigger but is mounted on the slide.  Sig didn't want to do it but the military required it.  It is one of the reasons Glock lost out.  Glock refused to put one on.

I have to think your service experience is a function of who works on your firearm. There are good and bad workers in every company, so luck of the draw perhaps. And I am relatively sure, once  gun is worked on by one person, its returned to them if it comes back to revisit the repair. I have always measured a company from their service side as where personal interaction happens.

I have had several occasions to send a firearm back multiple times. I wont bore y'all with too many, but before I share the topic 320 experience, I'll  mention just last month I had 3 returns of an MCX, each time receiving a replacement lower. Their service department has some very unqualified people I fear.

As far as 320. I have 3 FCU's currently which have been fine. But in 2018 I bought a new gun and it had a crunchy break around 8lbs. The sear was not sitting square in the FCU and the sear surface was tilted so only part of the striker would engage and its corner was gauling the surface. Also, I found that the trigger bar would hit the bottom of the FCU body as it cammed forward which was adding a couple pounds to the pull weight. This was different to my other FCU's which had ample clearence fo the body to trigger bar. So I think that is in line of the tolerance folks are talking about here. In this case, Sig said go pound sand, we got the gun to fire so too bad so sad for you. Just returned it saying up to 10lbs and passing safety checks is within spec.

I take pics of issue and write detailed letter with the pics to describe to them what I am seeing. I cannot find all the pics, but have a side by side FCU comparison I texted to a friend when he was asking about what to look for. So I can share that. If I find the sear pics will add it. But in this pic note how close the left FCU's trigger bar is the the frame, as you begin pulling the trigger it hits the frame as rides long the body. The one of the right (and my others) trigger bar does not hit FCU body at all. You can see variance differences in the cuts and widths throughout, so many changes over time I bet.

To say Sig has some poor QC and excessively wide tolerances for what is acceptable....I think that is a bit kind 😉
