Indeed a sad day. The first human to set foot on another world. His name will be in the history books far longer than most trivial things we concern ourselves about.

I was only 18 mos old when he walked on the moon, but I remember many of Saturday morning watching stroies on the Moon landing and his name, when I was very young. I also remember the Wax Museum in Gatlinburg use to have his likeness as one of the main draw cards. If you are the main draw card at a wax museum, you must be iconic hero. A true American Hero, a true global hero! I don't think he abused his prominise whatsoever to make millions did he?

If ever there was a monumental achievement to cash in on, it was being the first man to walk on the moon. But Mr. Armstrong shunned the fanfare of celebrity, choosing to let others make their own notable contributions outside of his shadow. He was a truly remarkable international hero.

Being a native of Ohio, we were extremely proud that a favorite son was the firs man to walk the surface of the Moon. I've been to the Neil Armstrong Air and Space museum in Wapakoneta; a very understated but very worthwhile museum should any of you ever be in the area.

How sad that we now have to hitch a ride into space because our own space program is all but gone.

May he rest in peace; he certainly deserves it.
