Most unusual gun you've seen used to qualify with for CCW.

I used my Desert Eagle in 9mm.  Instructor said he had never seen one used before.  Sadly my oldest son claimed it,looking for another.

Not actually an odd gun, but in my class, there was a man who came in with a Smith and Wesson snub nosed .38 and a box of .45acp. He couldn't understand why they wouldn't fit.

Magnum research still imports them. Just called the Baby Desert Eagle now.

Thanks, my first handgun. I sent to S&W and found out it was made in '53. I keep it put up now, and take it out to look at every once and a while.

This is a case where the instructor should be able to require additional training before handing over the certificate.

A guy walked over to me and asked... "Don't see how you handle that recoil?"...

A Desert Eagle XIX may have been in my class. Whatever it was it was huge, 6" barrel I'm sure and a large caliber.

 

This guy bought his girlfriend and dressed like Travolta in Saturday Night Fever.

Nothing unusual about mine probably it was a Ruger Mark II.  Not really a great carry gun but it worked well for qualifying.

The guy next to me rented a glock in 45.  Not too odd except he had never shot a gun before.  The 1st few shots from him scared me. he was not ready for the power of the 45!

No one shot smaller than a .380.

I was at a LGS as the class was leaving the range and a guy walked out using a Ruger Charger. Amazingly he did not pass!

A guy was telling me at the gunrage some time back of a person in his class who used a Stevens tip up .22 single shot.  48 rounds to qualify and you could cover his group with a 50 cent piece.  

I bet the rest of the class got bored waiting on him to finish.  :rant:  :rofl:

I did it with my makarov, maybe a little more common back then but still an oddball. 

 

I do not remember too many of the other guns -- the only thing that stood out was one guy had a target .22 of some sort, and his final target had about a 1.5 inch group cut out of the x ring.

There was a fella with a long-barrelled stainless Mark II .22 in my class as well. A young mild mannered East Indian ancestry physician, who shot a "one ragged hole" target. I bet he "ruined the curve" in his school classes as well, but using a target pistol is on the verge of "cheating". :)

A friend of mine used a .41 magnum. You don't see many of those anymore.
