Brief description: Given the country's overcrowded prisons, the U.S. government begins to allow 12-hour periods of time in which all illegal activity is legal. During one of these free-for-alls, a family must protect themselves from a home invasion.

I have not been to the movies in a long time and this movie is calling for me to go see it when it hits theaters.

It is an interesting concept, but I don't believe that enforcement of the law prevents wrong-doing in most cases.  I believe that by-and-large law abiders do so because of the moral consequences of wrong-doing, more than the legal consequences.

But the movie looks like it could be good entertainment.  I have only seen the first Paranormal Activity movie, but I pee'd a little when I did.

I'm not a fan of the "cam corder" type movies, but Paranormal Activity 4 was sorta decent. Again, Redbox $1.30 something. :)

Interesting concept, but I just can't get past the idiot daughter disarming the only-thing-between-us-and-the-hordes alarm system with one push of a button.  An idiotic move, of course, but the alarm doesn't have a passcode, verification prompt, etc???  I can't close my browser if it has more than one tab open without it asking me am I sure, and she opens up the entire house with one push of a button?

Didn't bother watching the preview but I just Redbox or Amazon Prime stream movies now a day.

I did particularly enjoy your observation about closing browser tabs and house alarms. Haha

I think "purge night" would by far be the most silent night of the year lol. All crime is legal for 12 hours, the chances of you simply walking outside and immediately getting shot in the face would have even the most notorious of criminals hiding in a cave somewhere.

Eh, I'll watch it. I liked Paranormal Activity and I've seen other movies with far more silly plots. I don't buy into the premise, but it looks entertaining enough for something to do. Plus it may bring my wife around to the idea of that steel wall over every hole in the house idea I've been wanting a loan for..... I do hope it shows some off the wall stuff taking place in the streets before it cuts to the house for an hour and a half.

Yeah, that and the fact that lots of "law abiding folks" would look forward to picking off "the real baddies" from their rooftops. Big game hunting would rather pale by comparison.

Funny you say that because the first thing that popped in my head was people in a sniper tower on top of the house, picking them off as they reached for the door.

Meh, saw the preview for this and another movie called The Animals or some crap.

In either case I think an AR would be a less than sporting solution to the problem.
I always get a kick out of movies like this were the bad guys come armed with knives and the victims crap their britches.

It's be a pretty short movie trying that crap around my place.
