Need a screwdriver in a hurry? Try this.

I was wondering around work today and playing in the hardware section when an idea struck.  A compact screwdriver that uses drill bit ends.  So I thought well an allen head bolt and wingnut should do the trick.  The way it sits now though would only be good for screwing something in but I'm going to correct that tonight by chopping the end of the bolt and welding everything together.  Once that's done I plan on drilling a small hole and gluing in a neodymium magnet in to hold the bits in.

Put the wing it on the other way and use a nut to lock it in place.

For those that own a Savage the end of the bolt will accept 1/4" bits too. The bolt it generally tight enough to loosen most screws without the bolt coming apart. I even had a nut driver bit in with one of my Savages that fit my scope base. Yet another reason to own a Savage.

No need to glue the magnet in place. Trust me when I say a bit will not pull it out of the holder.

I would need a slightly longer bolt but that would work, didn't think about that.

As if I don't have enough crap in my pockets as it is now, this will come in very handy to me at work without running to a tool box. Thank you for the idea! I need to go to the garage now and dig through my hardware collection.  :)

Cool idea.

For those who also want some handy pliers and a wire cutter in addition to the two screwdrivers, I have one of these for my key chain. They carry them at places like Home Depot in the key section.

Seriously, patent that little contraption. It would be one of the smallest bit based screwdrivers on the market. Make it into a keychain or something. Good idea there. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD Edited by jcluff
