This is getting more and more alarming.

Fox News reports tonight that 43 large propane tanks were stolen in PA.

Dozens of propane tanks stolen over the past month in Missouri.

Dozens of burner phones purchased in bulk in WalMarts in Missouri

Stolen remote controlled cars

Bulk purchase of Xbox 360 Kinect sensors in Arkansas

What is going on?

Actually propane tanks from grills make poor bombs, they are just not that devastating. The only reason this one burned for so long is because dudes soaked the ground around it with gasoline in a previous video, I guess to help it ignite.

One particularly boring day in Iraq I decided to shoot a full propane tank with tracer rounds. It didn't explode. I shot it at least a dozen times. So I took another propane tank and put half a block of C4 on it. That made a pretty cool fireball.

If some dirtbag can steal it they will.

Yep. In my neighborhood we had a rash of stolen Christmas laser lights recently. People will steal anything that isn't nailed down. Thieves should be executed. They have no place in society.

In Under the Dome, Stephen King had a major plot point of using a lot of propane for meth production; is there any truth to that, or did he just make it up?  It wasn't clear to me if it was just used for the cooking, or if it was used in the chemical make-up of meth.  The huge stockpile of propane became an issue near the end of the book.
