Relocating to TN (Parsons/Decaturville area)
deerslayer replied to Norun6's topic in New Member Introductions
Check out Tennessee Sports Foundation right outside Jackson. It's a private range, but the fees are very reasonable. https://www.tnsportsfoundation.org -
I use Militec-1 and have had great results

Bump, price drop to $100 per case. Would take .45, 9mm, 5.56, 12 gauge, .380 acp, .357 mag ammo in trades as well

Ha ha ha around here it's the old guys who talk about Mobil 1 and the know-it-alls who claim it's Fudd lore. I've used it (5w-30 I think) on pistols and had good luck. Remoil has always seemed kinda thin, so I use what Remoil I have as a surface treatment to prevent rust. I clean with Hoppes 9 (old school but it is good stuff) and lube with (lately) Lucas something-or-nother gun oil.

I use both. Rem Oil for on the spot lubing when needed at the range and quicker cleaning jobs, CLP for deeper cleans and when I know the gun is going to sit around for a bit. There's a clear viscosity difference in them, so they aren't interchangeable. Both good products.

I'll take the Woox Ultra Furiosa chassis and will PM my contact information Thanks Joe -
I like some kind of spray lube, on occasions, because I don't always take the pistols apart. It is just handier IMO. I perform deep cleanings a couple times a year as I do not shoot as much as I once did. Much too costly now. I do teach young people, from time to time, and furnish ammo for that so the ammo thing can really get out of hand if I am not careful. Several have talked about Mobil 1. Thanks for your reply's, res308. Edited to add; Recently had a 4some, dad and 3 kids, out to shoot for the first time. Have another young couple, and church lady who have expressed the desire to learn. Made it my goal, in my old age, to teach newbies.

Love those rifles. GLWS -
Just looked it up online and saw complaints about it being too thin and running out of people’s guns onto the stucks, etc. BUT, Remoil is a surface treatment/lube and they recommend that you wipe off any excess. Even though I use other lubricants now, I wouldn’t have a conniption fit if I had to use Remoil. All that said, I’ve been experimenting (for years) with Mobil 1 motor oil (0-20 or 30 I think) as recommended by some tacticool dudes on some tacticool forums. Sometimes I will mix the oil with a wee bit of bearing grease to apply to the parts that like to snuggle up together. Sometimes I might even apply the same mixture to the outside of the gun and wipe it down thoroughly. I have done this on various types of guns including wheel guns, glocks, sig P series, 1911s, lever guns, bolt guns, and even ARs. I shoot in this horrible Tennessee summer, I shoot in very cold weather, I hunt all winter, and I have never once had any kind of failures at all. But, I didn’t with Remoil either.

I keep thinking that some years ago folks had brought up some issue with Remoil having teflon in it and that causing something or other to cause something or other with something or other. I may be wrong on that, and, as you can tell, I can’t remember exactly what the issue was, or if it even had anything to do with teflon. I just remember folks bringing up some perceived problem with Remoil a few years back. I’ve been using other types of oil for the last several years, but I can’t remember having any problems myself with Remoil. So there’s my perfectly useless two cents.
