Good SHTF Survival Fiction Books
Grayfox54 replied to plank white's topic in Survival and Preparedness
I brought this thread back up because one of my favorite authors has done it again. I've posted before about how much I like his People's Republic/ Kelly Turnbull series. This new one is a stand alone novel unrelated to those. The Attack by Kurt Schlichter The signs were all there, but nobody paid attention. They didn't want to. For years they had been sneaking through our porous southern border. Watching, waiting, planning. The day finally came and suddenly 12,000 heavily armed Islamic Jihadist attacked in unison all over the United States. No one was safe. No place was safe. The fanatics mission was to kill as many Americans as possible before they themselves died as martyrs. They were brutal. Torturing, raping and maiming people just because it was fun to them. The recorded much of their savagery and posted it on the internet. The attack lasted three days. In the end 172,000 Americans were dead. They were trying to break us. This book takes place 5 years later. The author is touring the country and collecting the stories of those who survived. He interviews a wide array of people. Politicians, various officials, LE, Military, first responders and just ordinary people who got caught up in the attack. The book is set up so that each chapter is one person's story. The book is fascinating and horrifying. The scariest part is that it could actually happen. -
Lots of damage nearby, downed trees and roadway debris, but all good on our end.

Safety Reminder for Buyers and Sellers This is an automatic reply meant to protect you as a buyer and a seller on TGO. Use the Buyer/Seller Feedback feature to research who you are dealing with. Please come back and leave feedback for each other after the transaction is complete. Your experience will help others. Never agree to use an electronic form of payment to buy or sell a gun! None of the electronic payment services will protect you against fraud in a firearms transaction. They all have terms of service FORBIDDING the use of their services to buy/sell guns. DON'T DO IT. Be very wary of anyone who insists on brokering a deal in private or outside of TGO. Scammers almost always prefer to operate out of the public eye. I believe they will sell anything, you might call them. I've bought a cpl backhoe and skid steers. A few were just for parts. I'd call to be sure. -
I'd never try to convince someone they need to carry "______". Carry/ Shoot what you shoot best and are most comfortable with. Personally I'd rather face a threat that has a .45 but doesn't shoot it accurately, than someone with a .380 who shoots it very well. The smaller the caliber, the more accurate you need to be, to get the most out of what you're carrying. Not the same, but similar - why didn't you buy a car that gets the absolute best gas mileage? Probably because you liked / felt more comfortable in the one you did buy. The point is - carry SOMETHING, and be proficient with whatever it is.

If you wanna send me a PM and aren't too far away we can try out all my cans and maybe you'll hear something you like. I've always championed versatility. If we get the HPA can sales are gonna go nuts. And prices will plummet. -

This is a good beginner can that will do a lot of different things. Its a superior. 22LR thru magnum can, plus 5.7 rated to full auto. It's the size of a .22 can. Takes the BITE out of 5.56mm but not superior due to volume, as i stated. Easy disassemble using a quarter for the end cap. Priced about 500 bucks -

I looked at a Bersa, at the Franklin gun Shop, and almost purchased it. I made the mistake of purchasing a PPKS instead. Had to get rid of the S W PPKS after it went back to the factory for repairs and it never was reliable with several different ammos I tried. The Bersa would have been a better choice and saved me money and time. I see nothing wrong with 380 and I carried a colt Pocket Lite for 10 years. Just want something bigger now and a lot of the 9 MMs are the size of the little pistols. I wanted the Bodyguard 2.0 380 I just purchased to carry in the weak side for backup pistol. It is filling the need very well for me. I have all the revolvers and pistols I need; it is the want to have thing that always gets me Bersaguy.
