Most people carry a "video camera" with them every day, as a matter of fact I'm surfing the WWW on mine right now. I'm not 100% certain that this group went out looking for an incident. If it's not against the law to not show ID then I don't see what the problem is when a citizen refuses to show it. In this situation how does it make the LEOs job easier if you were to show them your ID? If we all really want to make their job easier we should just do whatever they say when they say it? "Mind if I search your car?" "Mind if we come in your house?" "Papers please...... your papers do not appear to be in order."

My eyes get a little hazy, I'm guessing from the pressure changes. That concussive wave from heavier calibers seem to do it. I can bang out with my .223 bolt rifle or my low pressure cast loads all day. Likewise, I can shoot my 45 colt all day. Even heavy loads. I'm thinking about looking into some prescription goggles or some kind of glasses that encapsulate my eyes. I learned not too long ago that 99.9% of optometrists are either quacks, half educated or just plain don't care. It costs me a lot more, but I go to a Vanderbilt clinic to see an ophthalmologist. They take the necessary time [on my dime ] to be thorough. What good is money if I can't see. I'd gladly choose death over blindness. ANY DAY. If you refuse to leave physical force can and will be used to remove you from the property. And you would be the one going to jail not the property owner or his agent. Even if the property owner places his hands on you first you are sitll in the wrong and going to jail. If you resist with physical force you will also be charged with an additional crime depending on how you resist. Property owner rights do trump any rights you think you may have as an individual on that property. You only have rights on my property if I allow you to have those rights. You have ZERO right to free speech on my property yet I can say anything I want. You also have ZERO right to carry a firearm on my property if I do don't want you to. Hell, you have no right to wear shoes on my property if I don't want you to. It is MY property and I can choose who enters and how they act. On my property I do have more rights than you, that is a fact not some notion. Better has nothing to do with rights. I am not better than any other person but because I own property I have rights on my property that no one else has. I'll be the first to admit this is just the impression I got, not a fact. I am a staunch "fellow gunny", but I also don't want to scare the sheep. They outnumber us and some already have bad impressions. They vote too and I want some issues OFF their radar, so they don't make uninformed/irrational choices at the ballot.

Wife and I made our way to the Opry Mall last night and as packed as it was there was plenty of officers on hand. BUT! I was very pleased to see that both PD and Mall Security were stopping those with saggy pants and asking them to PULL THEM UP OR LEAVE! We saw this not once but 3 time while walking around. Of course the persons they stopped gave the "mans holding me down" speech and as they passed us had some choice words for the officers but you could still see that they understood that PD was not going to take ANY crap and that the mall security has plans to keep this mall a family place where they can feel safe at unlike Rivergate,coolsprings, and I really wanted to tell those kids and few adults to just go back to Hickory Hollow!

I get that they do this monthly, but that doesn't mean they aren't hoping this happens monthly. The comments near the camera are what gave me that impression, not the scenario. I got the distinct impression that several of them viewed the police as their enemies there, NOT the MWAG caller.

Sorry, perhaps sheeple is more appropriate? Point is, if you open carry, you make a point every time you do it, and most open carriers are somewhat activist about it. Might as well take it to the legal limit each time. Or just conceal carry and not have to deal with the public or cops at all, which is my preferred MO. No permit required to open carry in Kansas if no municipal ordinance forbids it. Not required by law to show ID just because asked. Just people standing up for a couple of the few rights they have left, comrade. - OS

Pretty uneventful. Someone called the Police (who knows what they said), they came, checked it out and left. The only time you hear an Officer speak he is calm and respectful. Of course if you title it “16 Open Carriers vs Several Police Officers!†(Which is not what happened) you will up your YouTube hit count. When you do something out of the ordinary people will call the Police. And when people call the Police; the Police will show up. If the call goes out as guns involved, usually any cops in the area that are free are going to show up. I would have shown my ID and told the Officer I’m sorry he had to be bothered with this; apparently someone got scared. He probably would have responded with “No problem, we got a call and had to check it out; thanks for your cooperation.â€
