I am all about technique, but today an older friend of mine simply could not operate the slide of a 709 Slim. Arthritis and age have a way of sapping your abilities. I would imagine a lot of folks, for various reasons simply can't make it work. A revolver may wind up being the best choice for some folks.

Buddy of mine bought a Taurus 1911....came with only one mag. I think Academy routinely does this to have lower prices. Not unusual for BIG BOX stores. Home Depot has done it for years with appliances and mowers.

The only hull that makes a quality reload by Federal is the Gold Medal hull, or the paper hulls (love the smell). Look on line for a good deal on buying hulls of your desired brand if you can't find them locally at a range.

Nickel is used because it is generally regarded as 'slicker' for more positive feeding. It is still a brass case, just nickel plated. It is used quite a bit in some shotshell loads to help protect lead shot and to make it relatively smoother and harder to maintain more consistent and tighter patterns. Also, there is a new ammo maker in East Tennessee. They are supply ammo to Coal Creek Armory routinely.

Load unibody shells (Win.AA, Rem Nito27,or STS, even Gun Club) with identical data for the most part. I routinely have used for years 19gr of Clays, Win. Primer and Win AA wad with 1oz shot. Has worked my SBE faithfully, although I generally use it in my Target gun. Velocity will be around 1250FPS. Not much recoil. FWIW, IMO, Benelli and super-lite loads rarely function unless the gun is well-worn, clean, and oiled. Also if recoil is an issue for your wife, she will be much happier with a gas-operated gun such as the Beretta 391.

This in a 12ga.  Best O/U for the money.  Built like a tank.  I've hunted snipe to turkey, waterfowl, and you can shoot skeet and trap as well.  Like Robert said, everything is somewhat a compromise, but this one will work.  The hard part will be finding one.  FWIW, every Ruger Red Label I have shot kicks like a mule.

Not all spurs are created equally, therefore, no one solution. Also, not all spurs cause problems. At least 25% of the population have heel spurs; most don't hurt. Those that do can be treated successfully with proper shoe wear, routine and proper stretching exercises, nite splints and anti-inflammatories. These didn't develop overnite and will not improve overnite as well. It takes time and patience. If you have had pain for several weeks probably time to seek professional help.

If it were that simple with a 100% success rate..you would be right, but unfortunately that is not the case.

Bone spurs are in their own way normal.  That spur just didn't pop up, it has been developing for years.  Surgery is not the answer, nor is searching for a cure over the internet, especially from people that tend to shoot first and ask questions later . :cool: I treat these things for a living.  If you want, you can PM me for a little free advice.

"Bird Hunting" generally infers upland birds. Lots of walking and dog work, not that much shooting, more carrying the shotgun. That would tend to make you lean towards a lighter gun. Also, in general, flushing birds which requires quickness, again lighter is better as is a shorter barrel...26" is plenty. So this is also a good place for your O/U shotguns. Dove hunting....heck anything will do, but I would tend to stay away from the lighter guns, or even recoil operated guns as a lot of shooting will make your shoulder sore, if not bruised up. Waterfowl tends to lean towards a heavier, longer gun capable of firing 3" shells. Not saying a gun won't handle every situation, but some work at some things better than others.

I have fought this problem as well, especially in my .45ACP - Sig 1911 specifically. Seating the bullet a couple of thousands deeper generally solves the issue. I have actually 'pulled' the case away from the bullet trying to extract. Keep a wooden dowel handy for times like these.
