  1. So far I have only loaded moderate .357 magnum and 38 spl loads off Alliant's website.  It's been fun, but very tame.   I did not know they reworked the max loads a few years ago and ended up following a Lyman load from the 90's, as I have an older reloading manual.   158 grain JHP and 8.3 grains of Unique...  I think it will wake up my revolver when I test it Wednesday.   Anyone know just how much they have reduced the load max over the last few years?
  2. Here's the thing.  The guy constantly fires automatic weapons on his property and sets off explosives.  Does anyone actually thing the local sheriff has never gotten any complaints, never talked to the guy, and does not know what is going on?  Why would the staties not talk to the sheriff, and have him take a couple of agents out there?  This is just another one of the "legal invasions" the government likes so much.
  3. Someone mentioned that he is being investigated?  No.  An investigation is when a couple of cops come to your house, sit you down, and start asking questions.  When the cops first action is an all out raid with state and federales it is NOT an investigation.  It is something else.  I don't know about anyone else, but I am really worn out on the whole cops acting like they were the US military super tactical troopers thing.
  4.     I so want to come study with you Lead Jedi.
  5. Perhaps, but their short order gains would be bad for the ROK and us.
  6. Their ground forces are a lot more dangerous than what is portrayed here.  They have their own version of SpecOps, and they have been training to penetrate the D for decades.  Make no mistake, on the ground these are some very dangerous folks, and should be taken very seriously.
  7. BACON!!!  Looks like a great day.
  8. When I think about it I don't think I could convict the guy, because I am not sure that I would resist the temptation to do the same thing.   http://www.parentsociety.com/news-2/father-kills-man-who-killed-his-kids/?utm_source=outbrain&utm_medium=teaser&utm_content=090112-IO5&utm_campaign=OBAH
  9. Totally freaking cool!
  10. What for? "Here hide behind this rock and watch me shoot this bear in the butt. Really ticks him off." My choice would be a Ruger Super Redhawk in 454. Not the Alaskan model though. I would want a bit of barrel length for moar powa. Yeah baby!
  11. I told my wife I wanted one of these to use as an RV.  She actually asked "where would you drive it?"  My reply, of course, was "any damn place we want."  Then she simply said no.
  12. I got lucky this week so far.  I picked up a new to me SR9C on Sunday, and it came with 100 rounds of Federal WM.  I gave all my 9mm stockpile to my dad when this started because I was swinging magnums only at the time.  I got a box (50) of 124 gr FMJ from a friend for $15.00 and found 80 Remington Golden Sabre for $60.   This gave me enough to spend some good time practicing draw /fire /draw yesterday until I was comfortable carrying it.  More practice will have to wait until all this crap is over.  Until then I will keep checking the ammo at WM to see if I can get lucky again.    My dad offered to give me the rounds back I gave him, but that don't seem right.  At least I know who I can share ammo with if the world goes to hell, as he lives a block from me.  LOL
  13. I would sell the AR and get the Gunsite Scout.  First I must say that with the great amount of failures I experienced with the M16A1 and M16A2 in the army, included twice when I needed it to NOT fail, I am biased against the platform.  I have never owned one and will never.  I still say anything that needs a forward assist has a design issue.   Aside from that I come down in favor of the Gunsite because: The AR will freak out any two legged sheep you meet.  We can say this don't matter, but when you are just out trying to enjoy yourself it could be a fun ending problem.  The AR is grossly under powered for bigger game The AR is unreasonably loud for the power it produces The GS will be more dependable as far as working when dirty The GS will be less fragile in the backcountry   Just my .01...  not even worth .02
  14. Very nice site.  Registered and began posting.  Thanks.
  15. Bass Pro is like gander in that they are a good place to go look, fondle, and caress guns you might want to buy.  After you figure out what you want you go somewhere else to get it.  Unlike gander we actually try to spend some small ticket money at Bass Pro because they have so much that my little tyke likes.  Looking at their stuff gets her excited about animals, shooting, hiking, camping, etc.  We also appreciate all the Christmas stuff they do for kids.     This Sunday we went to Nashvegas to do a trade with a TGO member (for a new to me SR9C YAY!) at Bass Pro and ended up staying a couple hours while the little one climbed in and out of the boats learned about how they work, stared at the bears, and attempted to find all the fish in the aquarium.  We made sure to spend a few bucks and left.  She had a great time.
  16. To me it depends.  5 rounds of 9mm or .380 would make me hesitate.  5 rounds of 125 grain JHP .357 magnum does not make me feel undergunned.
  17. Could have been Archangel still searching for Airwolf.  He liked the color white a lot.
  18.   Maybe you think we should all go buy double barrel shotguns?   Personally, I have served and fought for my freedoms.  I intend to keep and use them, and honestly I could not care less if you are comfortable with that.
  19. For me it is a matter of economics.  I have traded firearms many times when I have decided to go different directions, as I do not have the finances to keep buying quality firearms in such a volatile market.  I get to own a lot more this way than I could otherwise afford.  Sure, I have a couple that I would never trade, but aside from those, the others are fair game.
  20. I am good on .22LR, as I have all but stopped shooting it, but I am tight on reloading supplies for .38/.357.  It does not help that I did a caliber consolidation right before all this trading off my 9mm handguns for .357 magnums and starting reloading for it.  I ended up giving my entire 9mm stash to my dad, as he had no stash at all.   Basically I am scouring the planet for small primers, but not so tight that I will pay horrible prices.
  21. Mine must be broken.  I get alerts and such from the NRA, but no spam.
  22. Fantastic thread idea.  I will enjoy reading these.   1993 Republic of South Korea FTX in the freaking rain.   I was helping a friend of mine out of an Avenger (HMMWV with stinger pods on the top) turret.  The Avenger was sitting on the side of a mountain for the exercise.  He hits the ground and we walk off about 5 feet when we hear a noise and turn around just in time to see the Avenger slide sideways out of the position in a cascade of mud and roll down the mountain.  In a classic Hollywood moment he turns slowly to me and says "I'm gonna need a ride."
  23. I wonder if the running of Detroit will be taken over by OCP.....
  24. If I were the child's parent the first thing I would do, after telling him just how proud I was, would be to ask the principal if the suspension was just a show of power or if the attempted shooting did not go the way she wanted it to.  I would ask this in all seriousness and just as accusatory as I could.    Yet another example of why we will begin home school at the end of this school year.
