  1. I have always one of those convertible Blackhawks.  They seem to be a bit rare these days.
  2. Alas, I decided long ago not to pay for cable tv, and have yet to begin stealing it from my neighbors (LOL) so no, but maybe it will be on Netflix one day.
  3. I will admit I traded my Beretta 92 for a Ruger GP100, and my Beretta Storm subcompact for a Ruger SP101.  I have never looked back.  You simply cannot beat a revolver for durability and reliability.  My GP100 will handle the hottest .357 magnum load I can muster with no problems.  My SP101 is small, but has enough front weight that it is easy to shoot with magnum loads.  The two of them will be around long after I am gone, and they caliber match my new Rossi 92 lever action.   I honestly do not own a semi auto handgun anymore, and don't regret it.
  4. Maybe this will end up like the book One Second After and I can start trading .22LR for dead animals.
  5. If someone was looking for an investment within our current financial situation I would think the old solid copper pennies would be best.  As a hedge against SHTF I personally think money, even gold would be a worthless investment when compared to things that can be eaten or used to get food.
  6. Dang, I was gonna guess .17HMR...  Seriously, that is freaking awesome.
  7. They dare insult the Holy Glock?  Say it ain't so.  they should be on their knees giving praise.   LOL J/k   Yeah, when they say they are giving up their 40mm launchers is when you need to worry a bit.
  8. I really did get lucky.  I started reloading right before all this stuff broke, so there was nowhere near time to stock up, as I was still in the experimentation phase of different powders, bullets, etc.  Last week I had a lucky stroke.  I found 4 lbs of powder at Gander Mountain of all places for 79 bucks.  Then I was contacted by someone at our LGS who needed .22LR's bad enough to trade primers and about 1K 38/357 bullets for it, so double score.   I also got my first press in yesterday (Lee single stg) along with RCBS carbide 38/357 dies.  I am now just waiting on my shell holder, which should be here Wednesday.  Then there will be no more hammering round together with my Lee Loader.
  9. It's sure looking that way.  I found nothing at all in Memphis.  That's ok though, something will turn up eventually.
  10. That's why I always say there are countries armed better and stronger, but Israel is the wrong country to muck with.
  11. Thanks guys.  Yeah, I know Unique is not top choice for a high power magnum load, but it's what I have, and powder is still a bit tight out there.  I am not really worried about the gun, as there will be definate signs of overpressure in the case before the gun is in danger.  I will just start with a common recipe and work up from there.  Thanks again.   i will be headed to Memphis when I get off in the morning, so i will look to see if I can find other powders there.
  12. we tend to try to keep our options open as both possible autos provide advantages over the other. Our primary bug out would be our 2005 Chevy Trailblazer with low tow gear and 4wd. I feel pretty confident that it would make it thru a good amount of stuff... However with the tow gear it gets about 17mpg.... Depending on what is going on a camel car could be more desirable to cover as much road as possible. For this we have a 2008 chevy cobalt XFE modded for mpg. I average about 44 mpg in this car. It just depends on what is needed at the time...
  13. Hello again yall.   The warmer weather is soon approaching, and we are planning on doing more hiking in East Tn this year.  I am trying to find a good defensive load against 4 legged critters, especially large predators.  I know .357 magnum is not ideal for bear, but I do not have the financials for anything larger.   I will not rely on it totally, as I will also be carrying my Winchester 94 in 30WCF, but I would like to carry something hot for the handgun just in case.   Here is what I have to work with..   Ruger GP100 .357 with a 4 inch barrel Speer JFP bullets at 180 grain. standard or magnum CCI primers Unique powder     Any ideas on a good hot heavy load?
  14. Must be the build quality of the latest rifles, as mine does not look anywhere that good. Does yours have a safety on the top right in front of the hammer? I am asking because yours looks like the Rossi/Puma instead of the Rossi/Braztech. I got the gunslinger kit from Brownells for about 20 bucks.
  15. My situation improved very well this morning finding a 4lb bottle if Unique powder.  I got it for a pretty normal 79 bucks.  The unbelievable part is that I found it a Gander Mountain.  I am still light on primers, but not too bad.  I can load .38 for sometime, but like others I have stopped shooting my .22s because I cannot replace the ammo.
  16. Same here.  For less than $500 my Rossi 92 is pretty awesome.  I love that thing, and the Gunslinger Spring kit I installed made it real fast and smooth.  The only problem I have found with the Rossi is that the stock, while good wood, is horribly finished.  I plan on refinishing mine.
  17. I get a funny feeling that you live about 50 miles from me....
  18. Man I am really glad she is ok, and like was said already that little Ruger did a wonderful job of protecting her hand.  LCP or not it takes a lot to blow a Ruger to pieces.   I would start the conversation with "You have a choice between buying me a new pistol or we go legal."   I have fired factory reloads from Tennessee Cartridge, and they have been inconsistent and a bit under-powered, but nothing like this.  I would openly display suspicion about the source of their ammo.
  19. This thread is EPIC...  Just sayin.
  20. Have you not heard?  There is no such thing as being racist towards white people...
  21. Disarming the good guys is a fundamental part of the Democrat platform.  Saying you are one of them that disagrees with gun control is like saying you are a Republican that agrees with socialism.  It just don't work.  No, I have no "liberal allies" in this.       My own opinion, nothing more.
  22. We have our daughter prepared for home school starting next year.  She is 6, so it gives us time to really get in the swing of it.  It's not an easy task living on a single income at the bottom end of the middle class, but she is worth it.  It's like I told my wife, either stay home raise and educate her or let the school do it and get after school care.  I left the choice up to my wife, and she came to the conclusion that if a child spends most of their waking hours away from the parents then the parents are not the ones raising the child.
  23.   Careful...  You go in the water, cage goes in the water, shark's in the water.  Our shark.
