  Parameters indicate to not be affected by future guvment regulations.  They've been after M1 Carbines in a big way for years.   Much as I love that rifle I'd recommend a Mini-14 over it for hunting or any work over 100 yards, but those will eventually be banned as well.

As far as what happens in 2014 I see no reason why dems would lose any seats, on the contrary they might just gain.    The republican party is a fubar'd mess and they are not winning the hearts and minds of young voters.  If they quit harping on gays and abortion they might do very well, but I don't see that happening.

The finish on the stock is shellac and did not come out of German hands that way.  The Russians put it on.    There is no way to save what's left so you might as well strip it.  Denatured alcohol will quickly dissovle the shellac then you can wipe it off (denatured alcohol is also what you use to make shellac from flakes). After that you could try a traditional finish like linseed, tung, BLO or whatever makes you happy.

Florida fans without a doubt are the worst, much more than "rowdy", just plain douchebags.  I'd say LSU fans are second but they are more rowdy in the sense of just liking to raise hell.   I do know that Tennessee fans have been treated like shit in both Gainesville and Baton Rouge.
