  1. Unfortunately, museums aren't always the best source for preservation information, you can find many horror stories on the net about neglected items in museum inventories that were ruined by decades of improper storage in basements and such. Museums, like all entities, have budget restrictions, many of the items donated to them have been ruined by lack of care and preservation throughout the years. Longtime collectors with deep pockets often do a far better job of preservation than any museum ...

  6. I have no idea how much experience or how skilled these folks were at the 8k level, but one of the main reasons why the death rate on Everest is so high are the guided climbs. The amount of support you get and the sheer number of people who successfully summit leads some to believe it's like taking a strenuous hike. They don't call 8000 meters "the death zone" for nothing, high altitude sickness can kill virtually anyone, and those mountains are notorious for uncertain weather. The proliferation of guided attempts means a lot more unqualified people are attempting these climbs, it's inevitable that many won't make it.
  7. The Lee loading manual has a good explanation of powder selection versus various other parameters (OAL, case volume, seating depth, bullet weight, etc.) in the early chapters before the actual load data is presented, you might want to pick up a copy of it just for "light reading".
  8. Easy solution, forget the other 200k or so, just make me happy ...
