  1. Grab A Gun has them in stock
  2. Start walking and get in decent shape. You are going to a higher altitude and being in good shape helps. When you leave to hunt, go a couple days early to get used to the thinner air. I went to Colorado a few years ago thinking I was in decent shape. Didn't take long to realize I was fooling myself. Take a gps as it's easy to get turned around there.
  3. In Gonzales V Castle Rock NM , The SCOTUS said that the police have the Duty to protect the public, not you as an individual. On one hand I can see the cop stopping the guy, but seems like excessive force.
  4. The only thing I can add is you should look at the numbers. If you put the money in a reg savings account, it will earn less than 1%. Your mortgage is probally around 4%. That's a big difference.   As some of the others said, no short term debt,no long term debt and the house.   I personally put extra on my house every month and have no short term debt. Bust butt and you will be surprised at how much you can kill in 10 years. Just make sure it goes toward principle.
  5. unless it has been posted in the last month, the Verizon store in Crossville is NOT posted.
  6. I have to disarm every time I go to the local Dr here in Cookeville. They have never asked me if I carry, but they have the gun buster sign on the door. I told my Dr that I was glad that they are guarenteeing my safety when I come here. He asked me what I meant, I told him and he said never thought about it that way.Never asked me if we have firearms and never told him if we do. But the safety statement really went over his head.
  7. We have a 2013 Ford Edge that is just 2wd. I do like it with the 6 cyl engine but the gas mileage sucks. I get 19-20 on the hwy.Travels and rides great plenty of room and easy for us to get in/out of. We are both seniors and wifey is handicapped.   I have heard great things about the Forester from friends in Michigan that own one and they love it. As I am a Ford guy I am kinda partial to them.   Good Luck, Jim
  8. Peaks and Valleys. I bought Ford during the past problems at $1.65 a share and it's now bout $13.00 a share last time I looked.   Depending who we get in the next election, it will either go up/down again.
  9. You have to be enrolled in the VA healthcare system. Any of you folks that are vets and are not at least enrolled, get in the system. Iwaited until I was almost ready for retirement and got enrolled. As I have great retirement insurance, I seldom use the VA except for my annual physical and my hearing loss.   Please get in the system. Jim
  10. If you know where you are going, get good topo maps a gps and a good compass. It's easy to get turned around in the mountains. Make sure your in good shape cause at 9500 feet the air is thin and try to get there a few days early so u can cllimatize to the air and terrain.
  11. Keep the core warm and the rest will be okay. Coming from Michigan back to TN, I can tell you that layers work well. Used to stand outside with longjohns, pants t shirt sweatshirt and sweatjacket on with a vest over it all and would stay outside in 20 degrees all day. And I mean stand, watching line crews put lines back up so everyone could have power.   Also the disposable heat packs in an inside pocket help keep body core warm.
  12. Your never gone until your forgotten.   I would like to think that his parents wanted to remember him as he had been.
  13. Yeah right! I was followed the other day by a Sparta K-9 officer and looked over as he started to pass me and he was texting as he was driving. But then he is above the law!!!!!
  14. And I can remember when I was stationed there in early 70's you could just put loaded handgun on dashboard of car and loaded shotgun laying on the back seat.   Time to stay away from that state.
  15. Sorry was off line for the afternoon.   These are chickens that are allowed to free range during the day from about 0700 until about 7 PM.
  16. Okay guys, I need some ideas. I have a fox that is killing the wife's chickens. I have set out live traps with bait to no avail.   I hesitate to set steel traps out as we have goats calves and donkeys. Anyone have any ideas that I haven't tried yet? I don't want to use poison out in fear of killing neighbors cats.   Jim
  17. Your special LEO pricing is the cost of the firearm without the excise tax added to the price.
  18. Actually there is a excise tax on every gun that is sold. The only way to get around it is to have the police force that you work for to either purchase it or give you a letter of authorization that the firearm is for "duty" purposes. You can purchase with your own money but the documentation has to come from your dept. Jim
  19. It also could be in a trust.
  20. We raised some Bronzebacked turkeys this past year and still have one tom left. Yesterday could hear the tom gobble and then heard someone on the adjacent property calling him. We went out in the woodslot in my orange shirt and hollered"you realize that is a tame turkey". The calling stopped! Had a good laugh at that.
  21. Tennessee's permit system is easy. Having moved here from another state where depending on where you lived and could be months before getting your permit after taking the required class.   The only bad thing that I see here is the nics check and fee each time you want to purchase a weapon. Perhaps if we can convince the state to do a check each year, we wouldn't have to pay.   Just my two cents worth. Jim
  22. uncooked chicken parts are safe for dogs to eat. Cooked bones will splinter and lodge in the dogs throat, possibly having to have a trip to vet and huge bill. We used to feed a raw diet to some of my working dogs until we downsized and no longer train/work our dogs.   Yeah I know that we used to feed cooked bones to our dogs as we were growing up,but they now say don't do it.
  23. Watched one go at an estate auction here in TN for $650.00 this summer. To top it off the guy ended up having to get repaired as wouldn't function.
  24. I wanted to go, but the wife said auction! we went and spent a lil money. They had a lot of guns(27) and I watched one guy spend 4K for 9 guns. Most went fairly reasonable, but the TN State Trooper comm. was way high as far as I was concerned. Of course I am a cheap son of a gun.
  25. It really does open another can of worms. I had a Michigan permit for years until I moved back to Tn and depending on how the law will be written,(If the Gov signs) the second you get in a car and don't have a handgun carry permit, you could be guilty of carrying a concealed firearm without a permit. I don't lose my tactical advantage by carrying where everyone can see that I am armed but I don't have any problems with anyone open carrying.   Just my two cents worth.
