CZ guys , what needs to go and what should stay ?
TnShooter83 replied to Tenifer17's topic in Handguns
Keep the 75B. They are just "the go to gun" in CZ. -
I know you want a pump, but it you look around you might find a good Remington 1100 in 20ga. I feel this is one of the best over all field guns for the money on the used market. Also look for one with a screwin choke or if it is a fixed choke. Modified barrel is the best. If you do decide on a pump, I'd lookf for a full size gun. The more the gun weighs the less the recoil will be.

I've only delt with one 1 Gen2. It was a LEO G17. It worked great, never did have a problem. The guy that now owns it has had no problems asof yet. I think you did fine. All you need to do is shoot it.

Postol would be a Glock 19 Revolver Colt Diamond Back

I've shot a few of them. All worked great. I'd take one over a Marlin 60. Most 60's work great. But then you'll get one that just doesn't feed right... I've only shot 3 model 64's that I can recall. None ever gave any problems. Gander mountain hasnags for $20. You can pick them up pretty cheap used at pawn shops and gun shows at time.

I didn't go into detail on NATO. As it is between Standard 9mm and 9mm +P in pressure. Yes NATO marked ammo is SAFE for your pistol. Pressure Specs: 9x19 Standard - Max PSI 35,000 9x19 Nato - Max PSI 36,500 9x19 +P - Max PSI 38,500 9x19 +P+ Anything over 38,500 PSI

I guessing that maybe the case was ahead of the extractor when it we fead in to the chamber. If this happens it could cause the extracor to rest on the rim when the slide is closed. In normal operation the case rim slides up into the extractor. Usually the slidewill have enough force slam the extractor over the case rim.Maybe in yor case it didn't? The reason it didn't extract once you try the slide was that maybe the the extractor was not "jumping" the rim to extract the case. Alot of people think that the extractor slips over the case rim, but in most pistols it isn't so. The rim slide up between the extractor and the slide face. It could have also been a timing issue due to pressures. The case may have still been underpressure when the slide went to open. This would cause the extractor to be ripped off the case rim and failure to extract the case will happen. If it hasn't done it any more, I call that "One of those things that happen if you shoot enough" As long as all is back to normal no need to worry. I lerned a long time ago, if you never have any problems it's because you are not shooting enough or you're lying? Shoot long enough and you'll have a problem once in awhile.

According to Ruger any ammo within Nato or SAAMI Specs are fine. 9mm +P is a SAAMI load. So you will be fine with any +P ammo. Shooting "hotter" rounds does result in more wear to the parts. In therory you'll get less life out of your pistol shooting hotter rounds. How much less is anyones guess. But I wouldn't worry about it. By the time you wear out the pistol, even shooting hooter loads, you could have boughtmany more pistols with the ammount you will have spent on ammo wearing it out. As for 9mm +P+ all that means is it generates MORE pressure than +P. +P+ does not have a set maximum pressure limit and is NOT NATO or SAMMI. Therfor you shouldn't use +P+ according to Ruger. I HAVE personally used Winchester +P+ in a P89. Nothing broke and all was fine. If you do choose to shoot +P+ you do so at your own risk. But the Ruger P Series are like tanks.

I'd start with different ammo. The real problem might be the recoil spring. Hotter loads make recoil longer. This gives the mag more time to feed a new round. The fewer the rounds are in the mag, the weaker the spring pressure is feeding a new round. This does NOT mean it is a bad mag. It just means you need to break in the recoil spring. Weak rounds (target loads) can cause the slide to cycle FASTER. And in extreme cases even short stoke. Slower/weaker loads could allow the slide to cycle faster which can cause the slide to skip over the next round in themag before the round is in place to feed. I serioisly doubt 100 rounds is going to get it dirty enought to cause an issue. I'm will to bet it is NOT a dirty gun. I'm fairly confident it is an ammo and/or break in issue. I had a CZ in .40 recently not like weaker 165gr target loads. Switching to 180gr loads fixed the problem. It did how ever feed 165gr JHP Hydrashock FINE. All my problems were ammo related. The truth is it might have been the pistol andthe way it was setup to function. But ammo was easy fix for me. I would start with trying different ammo. The hotter the better.

I had a raging bull in 44mag and never had any issues. But only shot it maybe 150 rounds. I sold it due to the cost to shoot it. I never shot any REALLY hot loads in it, most were target loads. I have a 357 now with no problems. Maybe 200 rounds in it. Not sure how many the previous owner put through it. All the load in the Taurus 357 were full power remington JHP. Nothin feels loose and it still seems just as tight as a new one. The double action on most taurus guns are not as good as a Colt or Smith. But for the money they are hard to beat. I can't say they are as strong as a Ruger or Smith and not sure how long they will hold up to full power loads. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Taurus revolver. But if I planned to do alot of heavy shooting with full power loads I get larger frame model. Taurus hs a lifetime warranty, so you really can't beat that. I will add that my brother had a Rossi made by taurus that locked in less than 50 rounds. Taurus fixed it FREE and had it back to him in 3 weeks. They smoothed the triger and it shot like a dream after it came back. If money were not really an issue I'd get a Smith ot Ruger as they have proven reliability in the magnum calibers. But they are expensive.....

Clear and Bright are are 2 very important factors of a nice scope. But you also need to match the scope to the style of shooting. If you plan to adjust the windage and elevation in the field you will need to be sure the scope is true in click EACH time you go from one zero to the next. As far as Burris and Nikon go, I have shot both. I have only Zeroed them ONCE. The Nikon Was on a 12ga shotgun. It held Zero fine. The Burris was on a 30-03, it too held great. If you like the Burris, get it. But you may need to seek more help from others that "use" the scope if you plan to adjust it in the field. The last thing you want to do is know how many "clicks" you need to get you back to zero, but miss due to the "clicks" not being the same each time.

If you don't have to have the logo. You can get the same knife here: http://www.topsknives.com/product_info.php?products_id=411 If you order it from his site, you get the same knife but with a logo. Other than that, I have no input on this knife at all.

Guess I'm canceling my Comcast account.
TnShooter83 replied to Chris's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
It's the sad truth. Not only that but our wooded yard doesn't make us a candidate for anything else. We can't get Uverse because the local phone company controls this area. -

I wrote them on my feeling towards their decision. Doubt they care, as I've dealt with them enough to how they feel about their customers. I emailed them at ecare@comcast.com -
Dremeled off some of the bayo lug - do I have to reparkerize barrel?
TnShooter83 replied to pattywak's topic in Long Guns
I see no reason it needs to be reparkerized at all. You have other options you can take. You can paint it (flat black and a brush) or even spray it. I've heard chalk board paint works well. Krylon Paint or High Temp engine paint would work. You can cold blue it yourself which is really easy on small stuff. Or just keep a coat of oil on it and call it good. I don't think it's much to worry about myself. I'd try cold blue first and see what happens. But I all ready have some cold blue so. I use Vans or Berchwood casey paste. If that didn't work, I'd use use a good spray paint and paint it. Don't spray the paint on the barrel/lug. Spray the paint in a small container and brush it on. That's the easiest way to do it. -
Good eye there man. I didn't spot that at first. I had to go back and look at it. I still think there is something wrong with the slide myself. looks like it was brittle or something. After repeated sudden slams reward it just gave way. It could happen to any firearms maker I suppose. It'll be interesting to see what route they take as to who does the testing and what is found.

Very Nice video. I like how you marked them for us. Thanks for taking the time to do this. I figured the Rhino would be have better recoil. Less than half it looks like But I've seen pictures on the insides of one of those, and it look WAY over engineered. I still might have to try one out if I ever get a chance.

Response form Bill Dunn: ----------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Pat, Thank you for contacting me. I am good friends with Sen. Bell and will discuss this proposal with him. It is always good to review current laws and see where they need updating. Rep. Bill Dunn ----------------------------------------------------------------------- I would liked to have seen him give me a positive "YES" Vote. But as least he will "review" it. Let's hope he see it our way.

S&W Shotgun, 1100 model, I think...?
TnShooter83 replied to Steelharp's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I have a friend that owns a 1100 that does just as you described. He took it to a Gunsmith and was told "Shoot 3" shells in it" Apparently this is a known issue with the 1100's . Indeed if you shoot 3" shells in it. It will cycle. But finding 3" 7-1/2 is not easy. So it is pretty much now a duck and turkey gun. I hope you figure it out, As he hasn't been able to again. -
It's like cars. They all get you for point A to point B. Fewer people have the cars that cost more. Naturally, people want what they don't have. While no one really wants what they or everyone else can have. But I agree, it's not a hobby unless it get expensive. At least that's how all my hobbies have been

They know that those rifles will never be used to assault anyone. Take a look around and you can see they don't use them. If they used them we wouldn't have half the illegals we have now. Oh wait, I think it's common knowledge now days that you just walk across the border and be granted citizenship. Or at least that's the way it's looking these days.
