  1. First you will need to practice with clays. The faster the clays fly the better. That helps a lot, but Doves seem to be able to change direction almost instantly and that makes things even harder. If you plan to hunt public fields it really hard as after the first 30 mins the doves "catch on" and fly higher. Not only that but you have the people on the edge of the public fields that feel the need to shoot at doves much to far away to make a good clean hit. So, Naturally the doves fly around the field and not over it.  I personally think #7-1/2 is the smallest you would want to use. Some prefer #8 but when they get flying high, the 7-1/2 shot seems to do a little better.   As far as fields you should look for Corn, Wheat and Millet crops. Doves like those a lot. I've hunt in Camo and I've hunted in jeans and a T-Shirt. It didn't seem to matter to the doves. They didn't seem the least interested in me until I start shooting.
  2. It looks ok to me and the guy at the gun shop. He and took it a part and put it back together. As did I and we got he/we slide to work. But now it drops the hammer when the slide closes. The disconnector just sit DOWN in the frame. It is not sticking up as it should. I think the spring (Flat Spring) may have something to do with that. Anyways, it now at the gunsmith. It does not. It's fixed       Thanks for the help everyone. Me and the guy at the gunshop (who has taken them down before) both tryed to get it working. In the end we fixed one problem and possibly created another. Read above for details.
  3. Slide off and barrel out. That as far as I took it down.   Because when you normally fire a pistol you are still pressing the trigger as the slide opens. And typically you still are after closes. Unless you some how have super fast trigger finger.     Slide off and barrel out. That as far as I took it down.   The disconnector seems to function fine, it's almost like the firing pin safety LIFTER is the issue? Lifter as in the thing that presses the firing pin safety block up.     I
  4. No, it worked fine until I cleaned it. Or, at least it shot anyways. But that being said. We just got it tonight. It was used when we got it.   I cleaned a kimber first, it works as should function test wise.
  5. Here is my issue. When I function check the pistol the hammer will fall. With my finger still on the trigger and pressed in, the slide will NOT open. It moves ever so slightly and something inside clicks. The trigger moves some to when this happens. The only way to get the slide open is to release the trigger and cock the hammer. Then the slide will open.     Any ideas?
  6. I'd take it apart and clean it really good. I know this a a really generic and overly used answer to most problems. But seeing how easy Ruger made it to take these things apart it can't hurt and gives you great access to look at all the part for damage. Trust me, it SUPER easy to do.   There are many videos on it. And the manual has pretty good directions too. Here is one of many videos I found   http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&ved=0CCYQtwIwAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DilWsXwKbWlo&ei=UE8BU-eeJ4XJsQTv-ILgDA&usg=AFQjCNE3ZIxJqUa0j0EWIc1hvUrtvcF2Iw&bvm=bv.61535280,d.cWc

  8. 1903-A3 as long as it is in the USABLE serial number range as some has heat treat issues. If you want a pistol too, I'd just skip a rifle and spend all the funds on a War era 1911
  9. I have no idea why there is a smiley face guy in there?
  10.   I don't think he can use a muzzleloader per TENNESSEE LAW.   39-17-1307.  Unlawful carrying or possession of a weapon.  (1) A person commits an offense who unlawfully possesses a firearm, as defined in § 39-11-106, and:       (A) Has been convicted of a felony involving the use or attempted use of force, violence, or a deadly weapon; or      (B) Has been convicted of a felony drug offense.   39-11-106:   (11) "Firearm" means any weapon designed, made or adapted to expel a projectile by the action of an explosive or any device readily convertible to that use;
  11. you may read here: http://www.hollinslegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/pc1103.pdf   It looks like he would need to have been charged with a Class E Felony and then the charge has to fall with in the requirements.
  12.   I take it you never dealt their CS?

  14. Guess we'll have to wait until Feb. 9 to see. I think we'll see an even bigger smile on his face then the one in the video when we find out it's not real. People want a story and this guy is will to deliver just that a STORY.
  15. What he said, but if you can live with that I see no reason not to own one. Everyone I've talked tot hat owns one like theirs and said they'd buy one again.
  16. Yay, He tries really hard to put it out there for you make your own decision. But you also have to use your own personal experiences in to account. Not everything that does or doesn't work for him, will or will not for you.
  17. Yes, I can't wait for it to get warm. I've organized my tackle box(es) so many times now I don't know where things are. I get every thing all organized then I buy more stuff and have start over. I'm bad for buying fishing stuff in the winter and then not being able to use it.
  18. I've used them 2x for a chipped windshield. I've had no issues with them as of yet. I'd recommend them.
  19.   They are very accurate if you get a GOOD one. Just as accurate as a 22lr. Most ALL airguns are picky about pellets. You absolutely will need to try different pellets until you find the  one that works best. And yes, there is a LARGE difference in groups size and location between pellets. If you opt for an airgun that is spring powered you will need to shoot it different than "regular" guns. Do NOT rest it on a hard surface and keep your hands of the action/barrel at all times. They are hold sensitive. If you go with an air charged gun "pump gun" they are not as picky about hold sensitivity but do still require the right pellets.   As for their ability to put squirrel down. They will work. But you need to remember that the small pellet will not buck the wind like a heavier .22lr and any small branch or twig WILL deflect the pellet. Depending on the power of the rifle, most are around 12-15fpe, you will likely find that a shot to the head will be needed past 40 yards. Other wise, you'll be waiting for it fall out of the tree until it dies. And sometimes they don't don't fall out at all. I've had a few find a nice fork in the tree and that's where they stayed.    Pellet Guns are great fun. I enjoy mine.

    CZ reliability?

I've only shot a CZ75B enough to comment on the reliability. Although I have shot many CZ firearms. The CZ75B is the one I've shot the most in terms of round count. I've had no problems at all with it. I've shot steel case ammo in it and it runs just fine. I think you will find it very reliable. Since you are comparing it to Glocks the only thing I think the Glock has it beat on is easy of dissasembly and easy to work on.
  21. I don't use a 22lr as much as I do a shotgun. If for some reason you miss with a 22lr and the squirrel is sitting on a branch or side of the tree the bullet will keep going. So, I don't shoot any squirrels in trees with a .22lr unless a TREE is the actual back stop. Number #6 shots carries less energy down range than .22lr.   A shotgun with #6 is safer and is just plain easier for me.
  22. I have one in 20ga. They are OK shotguns. They get the job done but if you ever take one apart you'll find a lot of the parts are cast. That's not always bad, but at one time they had an issue with locking blocks. I know this first hand. I bought one FULLY knowing it was broken. I called Akkar firearms and they sent me a new one and it runs great..... now. Apparently the one they sent me is made from better metal and I think they said it wasn't cast.   I guess what I'm trying to say is, that in my opinion, The shout gun is worth $300 AT BEST.
  23. I just took one apart and it looks like you are going to have to get that barrel back in order to get the rollers back to the cut out for them on the slide rail. Some how you are going to have to get the slide to come back or the slide is going to have to go forward.   I once had to remove a stuck round (bad reload) from barrel. Th only way I got it out was by placing the front or the slide on the edge of a saw horse OUTSIDE and giving the back side of the grip a good smack with the palm of my hand.   With that pistol using rollers your only option maybe getting the slide FULLY CLOSED then taking the barrel out. I honestly don't know a SAFE way of doing this as I can't say if your firing pin is forward or not. If you do try to force the slide closed it could potentially FIRE.    Unless I'm missing some other way of how to get the barrel out? The only thing I know is the barrel has to be FULLY BACK to remove it from the slide.   Sitting here looking at one trying to figure out another way to that thing apart...
  24. I would say some might be the Draw Hunts  that closed during the Government shut down. And the other to not as much pressure hunting, I for one did not get out as much as I did last year.
