  1. That is one sweet looking rifle man. Puts out a nice group too. The AR mag dump, anything mag dump for that matter, kils me to see. I'm a bolt gun person and it's one of my "cardinal rules" to never let a barrel get any hotter than it absolutely has to. When I had my AR, I only tapped off 3 rounds quickly just to make sure it would function. That killed me. The funny thing is I built my AR with a heavy barrel and never need the "heavy" part. Nice videos man.
  2. Tula or Tulammo...LMAO..... Just kidding. I usually shoot PMC or Georgia Arms.
  3. I've never shot either. But I did research the XL Marlin rifles. The biggest problem is the extractors have known to break. Apparently they are pretty weak and just snap off. Also the trigger guard is plastic, and if you actually try to tighten the screws it WILL crack the trigger guard. The good news is the extractor can be upgraded with a Savage one with just a little work. And the Trigger guard can be replaced with one from a 925. All you have to do is drill the hole out larger for the screw and counter sink it. As for the Mossberg, I have no idea. I uncle has a 4x4 in .300 Win Mag. No problems so far. But you asked about the ATR....So I can not help. Ultimately, I'm waiting on a USED 25/06 or .308 in Ruger M77/MKII Or for the new Ruger American series rifle. They are budget based. I hope they are at least half the rifle the M77s are.....
  4. Dang, When I had my AR I never seen any new mags less than $15. And Pmags for $14 shipped.....WOW. Local is about $25 EACH. Oh, well. Doesn't matter now. I just sold my AR last week.
  5. The thing about Colt is they do their Bolt and Bolt Carrier Group CORRECTLY. They also do their Chambers CORRECTLY. They also seem to have the best resale value. If you plan to resell some day. Go Colt. As far as quality, Colt is at the top. I've seen some custom guns used for 3 gun. But that doesn't count for FACTORY quality.
  6. About $10 per mag if they are used and standard G.I. Mags. As for the ammo $8-$9 per 20 rounds if it standard 5.56 ball 55grn.
  7. That line right there makes SAVAGE the best rifle for the money. I personally like Ruger Rifles. But, I have no problem admitting the Save is just as good. And in some ways better. Savage Accu-Trigger beats the Ruger M77MKII. But even the Non-AccuTrigger is decent. I had a model 110 (.223 Rem) one time that did all I asked out to 150yards. After that my scope was a bit small for the critters. On a side note: Savage uses the 1/10 twist rate. And that is a good thing if you plan to use Heavy/Long bullets. Not that the 1/12 is bad, but at least you have the option to move up in weight and yardage if you ever want to (Think 600+ yards) Also if you ever plan to hunt with it, I would NOT get a heavy barrel. Ask me how I know. Ok, here is how. I have a Ruger M77/MKII in .223 V/T. It has a heavy barrel and heavy stock. It SUCKS to carry around the field when hunting Groundhog. So, I now find the highest hill and sit and wait. No more stalking those things for me. I'll use the .17HMR for that.
  8. I think it is all scripted. I also think it is sad that every show has to revolve around controversy. If someone is not fighting with someone else it ain't cool any more. Bring back Andy Griffith...... I love that show.
  9. Wow, I was like that's not a weiner dog. I've owned 3 weiner dogs........ Then I seen, I feel dumb now. It only took me like 3mins to figure it out.
  10. I didn't like my G31. I'd trade a G31 for a G19/17 any day. The thing is, I shot my G33 better than the G31. Weird, huh?
  11. Out of all the Glocks I've owned and shot. I'd have to go with the G19. I've never shot a G17, but if it is anything like the g19,I might go that way just because it bigger and hold more rounds. As of now I'd go G19.
  12. Neat?, I guess. But why? The .380 is better suited for a pistol in my opinion. Typically the barrel on a pistol is a little longer when compared to the same size revolver. And there isn't a cylinder / barrel gap. The .380 needs all the help it can get. Plus the "moon clips" are a pain. I'll stick with rimmed cartridges for Revolvers. It's just "easier" for me. I'm not putting down the .380, I just think It would do better in the type gun it was designed for (a pistol) But if they build it, someone will buy it. I think it is more of a "gimmick" gun than any thing else. P.S: They have one in Stainless over at Coal Creek Out-Post in Kingston, Tn. If anyone wants one. That's the only place I've seen one so far. I could be wrong, but I don't see it being a big seller? Plus, If I don't like it, what is the resell going to be like?
  13. I always start with Remington Core-Lokt. I have found they shoot pretty good in every gun I've owned. They are not ALWAYS the best, but they do fine for "hunting" accuracy. If I need a bullet that penetrates "better" on larger game. I go with the Premium Core-Lokt Ultra Bonded or the "cheaper" Federal Fusion. As you can tell, I'm El Cheapo when it comes to shooting. I don't see using a $40 box of shells, when I can use the sub $20 CoreLokt and get the same results. If I were shooting anything other than White tail I would maybe consider the "better" more "expensive" stuff. If it pours the rain when hunting, I usually throw that ammo in the "range bag" and start the new hunt with fresh ammo. And that's a lot of money when you add it up. I'd avoid the Monarch brand if I were hunting. I shot some once and it smelled funny and was a bit less accurate. Though it was good enough if that is all you have or could afford.

    Marlin XS7

I debated getting one myself. The only complaints I could find is that the extractor can break. And if it does it can be replaced with a Savage parts fairly easy. Also the trigger guard is plastic and if you tighten it to much it will crack around the screw holes. Once this happens it lets the screw protrude in to the bolt channel and causes the bolt to bind. It to can be replaced with a metal trigger guard from a Marlin 925. All you have to do is drill a larger hole for the XL screws. Extracor: Savage extractor Trigger guard : metal trigger guard installation
  15. It's a coin toss. The Benelli is lighter so that is a small plus. I know you didn't ask for any other input as to other options. But I honestly prefer the Winchester Super X3. I fit's me better and just seem to shoot so nice.
  16. Not standing. Standing, I was able to put all shots in a 8" circle. On a rest maybe, but I doubt I could do it with any regularity. I only fired 2 mags through the pistol, I was happy with that accuracy. The long trigger pull was awkward and it felt too small to hold comfortably.
  17. I bought some of this ammo last weekend.... It would NOT fire in a Norinco 213 (9mm) - The primers were to hard. We did manage to get it to fire 3 times but 95% of the rounds would not fire. We went back and ran 50 rounds of Federal BRASS cases ammo. All fired 100%, I assuming that at least the federal rounds had SOFTER primers. We then fired 50 rounds or the Tulammo through a CZ 75B, all rounds fired 100%. I was actually pretty impressed with the accuracy. The ammo was much dirtier than any ammo I have used before and had a slight sulfur like smell. (think eggs) It was how ever, very easy to clean. Also, I did NOT notice any abnormal wear to the feed ramp or the extractor. As for the firing pin and peening issues, I don't know. It is not all that easy or fast (compared to my Glock) to take the firing pin out of a CZ.
  18. http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_118/515847_Foliage_Green_AR_Picture_Thread.html Not sure if we are supposed to link to other sites or not? So mods feel free to delete the link.
  19. I researched this farther and it looks like at one time....in the past, Wolf did contract with TulAmmo. TulAmmo is no longer making ammo for Wolf. ( I have heard rumors why, but I don't like to spread rumors) I was wrong in that Wolf and Tula are not the same.....if it's old ammo it may be Tula/Ulyanovsk Cartridge Works. But the NEWER ammo is not made or produced by Tula or the Ulyanovsk Cartridge Works. That maybe why the headstamp/brands are mixed up? According to TulAmmo: The Tula and Ulyanovsk Cartridge Works no longer support or produce any of the “Wolf†brands of ammunition. I found this information at: tulammousa.com - Front page, bottom left. Again, I not trying start an argument. I'm trying to get to the bottom of this rumor. So please don't take any of this the wrong way. I even went as far to call Tulammo, but all I got was a voice mail to some lady. (Lisa? something)
  20. FWIW, Tula and Wolf ammo are NOT the same ammo. It's a rumor and WOLF ammo is trying their best to ride this rumor. It's posted on their web site and in a .PDF file. http://www.wolfammo.com/pdf/WOLF_Packaging_Alert.pdf Feel free to print out the above .PDF Feel even more free to hand it out to the ammo expert at the local gun show. As far as Tula ammo goes, I've never shot it personally.
  21. What caliber and what weight round are you using? What is the max range you most likely will get a shot at? Most high powered rifles, I zero in at 200 yards. NOTE: I don't normally sight in at 200 yards. I normally sight mine in at the NEAR zero. Then I'll move to my FAR zero and fine tune the adjustments there. To confuse you even more. I will go on to say, I'll actually look at a ballistics chart and move to my highest point of impact before my far zero and do the fine tuning there. The highest Point of Impact is between the near and far zero. Example: - A 30-06 shooting a 180gr. bullet should be hitting about 1.85" high at 100 yards for a 200 yard zero. So you would sight in the rifle to shoot 1.85" high if you were zeroing at 100 yards, that would then give you a dead on hold at 200 yards. The reason I do this is because when installing a new scope, I have missed the paper completely. If you miss the paper you can't tell what way to adjust. Sighting in at the near (usually between 25-55 yards) makes getting it on paper easier. Google: 30-06 ballistics chart. (replace "30-06" with what ever you are shooting)
  22. That is VERY nice of you Broomhead. Don't see how he could go wrong with that offer. I've used many of the Leapers scopes. UTG is a trademark of Leaper Inc. For the price it very hard to beat them. The turrets on them do not fell and sound of feel like higher end scopes. But they do seem to hold a zero very well. I honestly think the lighted cross hairs need a little work as they are big pretty big. (I use Mil-Dot). The only other complaint I have with them is they don't seem to be as bright as others at dusk or dawn. Don't get me wrong they see well enough to get the job done. All in all they are very good for the price. For cheap, I'd have to recommend them.
  23. My buddy in Colorado has one he bought for Elk hunting. I think it was a T3 Hunter model in 30-06. Last I talked to him he said it was a great rifle, no problems. He still hasn't got an Elk yet. Must be a decent rifle because I don't see many for sale on the used market. (I buy most of my stuff used) If you do get one, let us know how it shoots.
  24. ummm.....This was the Powell Wal-Mart about 10 years ago. Doesn't matter much as I haven't bought or plan to buy any from Wal-Mart. I buy used, build it, or order it any more... I do know the guy walked me out the door then handed me the rifle. He also said they do NOT take return on firearms or ammunition and to contact the manufacture for any problems. P.S. - There used to be a sign on the counter at Wal-Mart in Oak Ridge. It said "All Ammunition sales are FINAL"
  25. Yeah, I never liked working puzzles with a hammer. (rolled pins) And I'm pretty sure a 5 year old could disassemble and reassemble a Glock. Ok, I guess it's obvious by now I prefer Glocks. They make them so easy to take apart and clean, yet no one ever does. - Except me.
