I avoid school parking lots and even most school zones when and if at all possible. If the lights are flashing I might even turn around and go in another direction. When my kids graduated I was done with schools and thrilled to be done with them............jmho

I have often wondered how many times a Black Police Officer has shot and killed a white person. Reason I am curious is because we never have any riots, looting and violence that lasts for weeks to refer to. Yet every time a black person is shot and killed by a white person we always have riots , looting and weeks of violence to refer back to. Rodney King beating cost L.A. many square blocks of buildings burned to the ground and riots and looting. Shooting of Trevon Martin we see riots and looting and nights of violence and unrest.  Now we have Michael Brown shot by a white police officer in what appears to be a self defense/arrest for a robbery and beating of the officer prior to the shooting and the only two witnesses is the criminals accomplice in the robbery and the beaten police officer. Of course we also have the normal reaction of the African American people with their riots, looting and violence that continues for at least a few weeks destroying other peoples property. Thing is many of these people doing the looting and rioting drive hundreds of miles to do this and make things 10 times worse. Is it a situation of maybe they don't have enough trouble makers there so we will go help????? Some one please explain this to me..................jmho

In all honesty folks, I would not care what color gun a person is sporting if the muzzle is pointed at me I would not want them to pull the trigger................jmho

Maybe it is not th   Maybe it is not the times that have changed but maybe the kids. As much as I loved and love my two sons. I was thrilled to see them grow up and find out what they wanted in life and go for it as long as it meant moving out of my house. I have helped my son a few times when things got rough in life but if they never get out do they ever grow up? Going to college is much better that going in the military at the present time for sure..............jmho

Well, lets see. When I had the new engine put in my 1997 Jeep Cherokee by my son I had him put Mobil 1 oil in and a Mobil 1 oil filter. That was 5 years ago and have not had it changed since. Jeep had 138,750 when new motor was installed and mileage now is 141,780. At the rate I am putting miles on the Jeep I figure it will be 2018 before my next oil change will be required............jmho

They had the deer issue on the news the other night. They were saying that the deer situation in Hendersonville Tennessee is totally out of control and they are looking at different solutions to deal with the problem. I live in the city of Gallatin and I have deer in my back yard a couple times in the last week and that is a first for me and I have lived here 16 years in November. I have a really think fence row between me and my neighbor behind me and it is very tall so deer can hide in is pretty easy. If I continue to see them I will buy some food and feed them this winter just as I do all the other critters I have. I feed rabbits pellets and apples I get from Krogers that have gone bad and they are throwing out. Deer will eat those also. I have 5 squirrel feeders up that I buy whole Kernel corn for and I will mix it with raw unsalted peanuts and acorns that i collect at a buddy's house with my shop vac. he has two big Oaks in his back yard and his patio, walkways and driveway are full of acorns. I can fill a 5 gallon shop vac twice and it will last the Winter. If the deer stay I might fill it 3 times because deer like acorns too. I go through about 80 lbs of bird seed a Winter also but they are so enjoyable to sit and watch in winter on the feeders....................jmho 

I have a few issues with going to any Walmart, new, old or in between. One issue I think they have finally began to address which I am thrilled about and that is they are moving back to trying to buy and sell Products made in the USA and are even working with new companies opening up in America to buy there goods and services. That I like. Now the two issues I have which have not been addressed and I have brought them to the attention of the manager more than once. The main one is that the fast lane 20 items or less isles are seldom open with a live person and people are forced to either wait in long lines with full carts ahead of them or use that "Do It Yourself" check out isles. I refuse to use those for 2 reasons. 1 is I don't like to do it my self and 2 is those type of isles take away a living persons job and when I am spending my money I want a live person to do the transaction with and not so cold uncaring greedy money machine. Also, I have noticed that the employees at my local Wally World have been a lot nicer recently than in the past.............jmho

I would not care if you had a group of people that wanted to have a neighborhood bonfire and roast Marsh mellows, your going to have someone that is against it. There will always be those people that will find something wrong with everything. I have no respect for the OC people in Texas for their actions but I will fight with my dying breath their right to do what they do as long as it is a legal action and within the boundaries of our Constitution. I don't have to agree with it but like the person that objects to the bonfire I don't have to approve of it. As far as the " NEW" Black Panthers which I never knew that the old ones went away go, they have as much right to show up with their guns as do the OC group as long as they are legal to own said long guns. In all reality it should not be a race issue at all. It should be strictly a Constitutional event and not a racial one. Can that be allowed to happen? It would be interesting to see if it could or not but not at the cost of someones life...............jmho

Black Pepper is an old circle track race car trick I use probably a 100 times to seal up small leaks. Sometimes takes a couple cans but it works. Not very good on seam leaks though................... :up:

I have not been tree rat hunting in years but have been considering doing a little this year. Just enough to make up some squirrel and dumplings a few times. I have plenty of 22'lrs to do it with and a buddy wants me to come and hunt them from his back deck because they did some damage to his house last year by getting in his attic so he ask me if I would take care of that problem and if I am going to shoot them I will eat them. "Waste not want not" my grandmother use to say.................jmho

I think you did exactly what you should have done and I would have done. If you would have heard gun shots inside the store that might have made a difference and I would have taken cover with gun in hand at that point to defend myself. I would have gotten license plate # of said truck but not got involved unless my life became threatened................jmho

  Oh yea, they charged both of them with attempted murder as there was about 3 or 4 other people standing less then 10 feet away and they saw him pull the trigger, knowing my buddy had a gun pointed right at him. I think the punk had a death wish that didn't work out for him. Now he is in the Gray Bar Motel with Bubba. Plus there was two other guys right their with their guns out and down at their sides and if things would have went south they would not have got away regardless. They got a whole log of charges filed against them from aggravated assault to attempted premeditated murder. They are both still in jail cause bond is like 1 million bucks each.

My phone keeps sending me text messages that I need to take it in for service because it will not accept Multimedia messages. It has been sending me that message for two years now once a week. If I wanted multimedia messages I would have signed up for them but for some reason they cannot understand that............... :rant:

Yep he is a close friend of mine and comes by here many mornings for coffee and is the guy that really got me back into guns. I had got out of them since back when my home got burglarized and they took all of my guns while we were at hospital with son after car wreck. He is the reason I have my HCP. He sparked my interest in firearms again. He is a very unique person and close friend.

I had it happen to a friend of mine  in a Food Lion parking lot. The two guys followed him out of the store and they had more plans than just taking his gun, they planned on robbing hm with it after they got it. this happened about 8:30 one evening last Fall. They got more then they bargained for thinking old man, easy target. He had grocery bags in both hands when they snuck up behind him and one grabbed his side arm from it's holster. The guy pointed the 9MM in his face and said for him to give them all his money. He calmly set the bags of groceries on the ground and while reaching in on pocket for his money clip that they saw when he paid for his groceries he was also reaching inside his jacket for his backup 32 Caliber in his shoulder holster. he didn't pull his money clip out but he did level the 32 caliber directly in the face of the guy with his other gun. The guy started yelling "I will shoot you man, I will !!! and my buddy told him calmly "not with that gun you won't." The guy told him again he would shoot him and by now there we several other folks around after all the yelling. He told the guy to shoot him if he had the balls and the punk pulled the trigger and it went click. Then my buddy told him if he made even one move he would shoot him and the gun he was holding was loaded. He made both of them get down on their knees and he took his gun away from the punk as he heard sirens coming so he knew that police had been called. The two punks were taken to jail and he went home and ate almost totally melted Ice cream. He never carries a bullet in the tube of the gun on his hip but his back up is ready to do business with the first trigger pull.  He has done many hours of practice with his side arm and when he draws it in one smooth motion he draws the gun racks the action to load it and is ready for action with about as fast as the average person would be with one already in the tube........................ :up: 

Smart move on Cabela's part to protect their gun inventories. Good thinking ahead of what could have been a bad situation.............jmho

Said he just got out of rehab and couldn't kick the alcohol and the depression that came with it. Some people can get help from rehab and it take and they get their lives in line while others go through program after program and end up like him.......Very sad to hear about him. I enjoyed him movies...........Prayers to his family.

The older gentleman I saw in open carry today was coming out of Walmart and he had bags of goods he purchased so evidently no one from Walmart said anything to him cause he seemed easy going about his business.........jmho
