  1. On a related note, you can use Cabela's gift cards at Bass Pro and vice versa. You trade them in at the service desk. Cabela's reloading supplies were thin after Christmas, so I went one exit up I-75 and got some bullets at Bass Pro.
  2. Places in Chattanooga where I have seen signs meeting the new requirements: Hunter Museum of Art The Atrium, owned or controlled by CHI Memorial Memorial Hospital Erlanger Hospital (I think) The Aquarium The hospitals went much larger than the minimum size needed.
  3. Only a related note, does anyone know about signs at Dixie Stampede? If anyone goes after January 1st, please report on if any signs are present and conform to state law. My boss is taking everyone at work there in February.
  4. I have also noticed the old guys at multiple theme parks being less thorough, and some real young screeners being overly cautious. The wise old men know that poking a stick through a bag isn't really going to keep out weapons if someone wanted to carry one into the park. When we went to Dollywood last summer, they just did the bag searches and no metal detecting. Even if they had metal detectors, I could have smuggled a weapon in our stroller. I would truly never do that, but a jihadist certainly would.
  5. All the scenes that looked like other scenes (throne room, salt Hoth, etc.) were deliberate homages to the originals. I don't think they were saying anyone can use the force. The final scene was to compliment Luke saying that he was not the last Jedi--implying that there will always be potential Jedi. The orphan stable kids knowing about the battle was to show the that the legend of Luke Skywalker was going to spread even if the First Order tries to control the narrative (the tighter they clench their fist, the more that slips through their fingers, so to speak). I wonder if Snoke's manner of death is a hint that he is no more important than Darth Maul? He is a bad guy and that is all we need to know, perhaps? (Not that I find that satisfying, but it may be what they are going with). I think Snoke may just be a plot device to get Kylo Ren to be Supreme Leader, and unlike Vader (and what Rey hopes), Ren just gets worse and is never redeemed. Luke seemed a bit POd that his father, a Jedi, caused so much trouble even if he did get redeemed. Lei seemed to have given up on her son. Maybe the last film will prove them right. I'm assuming that the sheer amount of power Luke exhausted in projecting himself used all his lifeforce, and he becomes one with the Force. Maybe Yoda disappeared because he had been using the Force to delay his natural death while waiting for Luke. I agree that the whole casino planet escapade could have been removed without any consequence to the film. They could wrote any number of ways for Rose and Finn to get on that ship and be utter failures.
  6. The attackers tore down the fences with the tank, and the dead took over the prison. That's why they are no longer at the prison. I'm sure they would have liked to have stayed if they could (especially Hershel, Beth, Bob, Tyrese, the two little girls.....).
  7. So he is keeping his handgun, which has much more potential to be stolen and used in an actual crime, but destroying the AR?
  8. My Cabela's pre Black Friday ad has them for $139 and includes both .22LR and .22 mag cylinders. Cocobolo grips. Edit: Sorry, just notice it was November 9 only.
  9. There is a report that a neighbor chased the gunman off, shooting at him. The report was a on a local news channel from Texas. Did not see on the national news tonight. Also, Google Street View for the exact location is missing (crossroads at which the church sits). Can't figure out why.
  10. Most likely y'all have different insulin concentrations. One of the common insulins used in dogs requires a U-40 syringe, while many (most?) human insulins require a U-100 syringe. If you use the wrong syringe, the dose will be dramatically different. U-100 insulin is more concentrated, so using a U-100 syringe with a U-40 insulin would require some conversion. So it is possible, but not simple to use different syringes.
  11. I can't tell for sure, but my impression is that the red tissue is granulation tissue, which is what fills an open wound. So I would assume it is a healing wound due to some type of trauma, but I don't actually know if deer typically get any type of infectious dermatological condition that causes ulceration.
  12. So, I decided to sign up for Equifax identity theft monitoring. I know, it seems stupid to trust the company who screwed up in the first place, but they already have all our personal information anyway, and I can use it as a double check if I find any problems. However, even though my baby's SSN is potentially compromised, it won't let minors sign up for identity theft monitoring. So I called the number on their EquifaxSecurity2017 website. The representative was completely unhelpful. She said that Equifax "generally doesn't" have information on minors, but she could not answer why my daughter is potentially impacted. She said I would have to call Equifax but this number was just the "incident response line," which seems like this is part of the "incident." When I asked for the number to call, she said that they didn't have a number for me to call at Equifax! Trying to contact Equifax and talk to a live person has been futile. It appears that they only way I can contact them directly about my child would be to send a load of personal documents (copies of both our SS cards, official copies of birth certificates, etc.) by mail. If they don't have my daughter in their system, then I'm not too keen on giving them even more information. So I complained through the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau. If Equifax had any sense, they will quickly answer my simple question--is anyone using my daughter's SSN in their database? Once I know that information, then I can decide how much further exposure I want to risk. I'm a little steamed right now. In the Equifax comment form, I told them I hope the government regulates them out of existence.
  13. When I checked to see if anyone in our family are "potentially" impacted, it said my wife, myself, and my 16 month-old daughter are potentially impacted, but my 11-year old son was not. Why would they have the SSN of a baby for any reason? I can't even think of anywhere other than the government and her pediatrician that might even know the number. Does it mean some illegal alien randomly generated a SSN that happened to match my baby's? I checked our credit reports this week and found nothing unusual so far, although the Equifax website crashed when trying to access my wife's credit report, so we still don't have that, but the other two agencies did not have anything weird. The website annualcreditreport.com won't let me check my baby's credit report online, but they say that none of the three agencies should generally have a report on a minor, which has me worried about the Equifax thing.
  14. I'm assuming that after Bran has creeped everyone out with his new ability, they will accept when he tells them that Jon is Rhaegar and Lyanna's kid, but the book will be key to convincing everyone that Jon is not a bastard and is in fact a legitimate heir to the throne. Maybe Howland Reed will show up just for good measure. Having a dragon lick Jon in the face will convince the other half of the equation, probably.
  15. I think Sam or Gilly will provide the validation for Bran's story and use the book to cement the truth. Also, Littlefinger might be involved also; he might be facing execution and try to use his knowledge as leverage, only to have Bran and Sam steal his thunder.
  16. The Hound gets some of the best lines.
  17. I thought drop in auto sears were a real thing? One of Rawles' books had a character who owned a few illegally and saved them for TEOTWAWKI when the ATF was no longer functioning. Did you notice that they made a point of the guy giving her hearing protection, but then leaving off his own as he sat right behind her?
  18. We were in Gatlinburg last week and talked to a local guy about the fire. He said one of the two teenagers was the Sheriff's son; has anyone seen any similar reports? All the news reports indicate that their identities were being shielded due to their ages. He mentioned that they were walking along, dropping lit matches, which the Knoxville News-Sentinel report also confirms. I think if one of use had started a forest fire inadvertently (such as using an illegal campfire or something), we would be charged and in jail. If they were willfully dropping lit matches in the woods, and especially if they saw the fire start, they need to be charged. People lost their lives, others lost their homes, and some lost their businesses. Even my 11-year old son knows that playing with matches in general but especially dropping them in the woods is a definitely forbidden.
  19. Sporting events, student housing, daycare facilities, faculty and staff offices, and rooms where disciplinary hearings are conducted are all still off limits.
  20. We can't carry in courthouses (which includes buildings that might have a traffic court buried deep within), polling places, nuclear facilities and other federal no-go zones, K-12 schools and events, churches without permission from the governing authority, and government buildings with screened security. I think that is it.
  21. Governor signed this one into law this week. A lot of us weren't sure if he would actually sign it. There has been much gnashing of teeth and wailing by those members of society who lovingly thanked Deal for last year's veto of a similar bill. GeorgiaCarry.Org will use this as a foot in the door in order to hopefully expand campus carry in the next few years; that is what they did with restaurant and bar carry, which today is unrestricted.
  22. We are hoping he won't veto it like he did last year. In order to address his issues with the bill, it was severely watered down with amendments (no carry in faculty, staff, administrative offices or disciplinary hearings, can't carry where high schoolers attend classes), but it will better than what we have now. It will be most helpful to prevent invisible gotcha zones where campuses are located in cities and there is not an obvious border between the campus and the real world.
  23. This probably does not affect many people here, but it could be important for a few of you (or your friends or family). Under current Georgia law, if you move to Georgia, you cannot carry a weapon (handgun or knife with a blade over 5 inches) until you receive a Georgia Weapons Carry License, even if you already have a reciprocating permit. So in other words, as long as you live in Tennessee, you can carry your handgun here in public just like a resident. As soon as you move to Georgia, then the State no longer recognizes your HCP. If you move to Catoosa County and establish residency, you might only have to wait 2 weeks before you can legally carry outside your home, work, or car. If, on the other hand, you move to one of the Atlanta Metro counties, you might wait as long as 2-3 months (which is illegal by the way, but they still do it). HB 292 is a bill that will address this issue as well as others. If the law were to change, then you would have 90 days in which you could carry on your old HCP before having to get a GWCL. There are some other important things in the bill, some major (decreasing the time limit to do the background checks, providing ways to appeal mental health rulings) and some minor (clarifying definitions in the current law), but the new resident issue is one of the most important things. The new resident change was part of a similar law that turncoat Governor Deal vetoed last year because it decriminalized church carry (the horror!). The church language has been removed, so there should be no reason this shouldn't pass. I was prompted to write this post after reading the recent post about a TN resident going to school in Alabama. If a grad student (over 21) from TN wanted to establish residency in GA and carry a gun, this type of quirk in the law could affect them. Right now HB 292 is waiting to be voted out of the Senate Rules Committee so it can get a full vote in the Senate. I don't think there were any amendments, so if passed, it would be sent to the Governor.
