  1. Always sad to hear somebody passed. But I never did like him. Do y'all forget when he was arrested and why?
  2. In my early career I worked in the trucking business. Management seems to have a blind spot when it comes to the trucks themselves. Money gets tight and where do they make cuts? In maintenance, that's where. Broken down trucks mean delays and unhappy customers. Improperly maintained trucks can also be quite dangerous. Causing accidents and law suits. I worked for one outfit where it wasn't uncommon that about the third week of the month, the boss would announce "Boys, we've spent this month's budget. Patch 'em as best you can." I didn't stay there for long. Years ago I worked for a small truck line. The boss told me "When my trucks are on the road, I'm making money. When they're in the shop, They're costing me money. Keep my trucks in the road and I'll be happy to pay you to sit on your butt." That company did quite well. The big trucking companies just never could understand how simple that was.
  3. I believe it actually was him. This exchange took place after 7:00pm and the wording didn't seem to match an office stooge.
  4. Not much I can add, but thank God she's ok.
  5. Yep, Twain was reported to be quite fond of the little Colt.
  6. Once you get outside the Memphis city limits, the rest of Shelby county is very conservative. District 97 covers Bartlett and other areas outside of Memphis. The problem is that Memphis by itself has the rest of us badly out numbered.
  7. Here's what pisses me off. I voted for this idiot. He's a republican and was supposedly pro 2A. I told him flat out that I won't vote for him again and I'll tell everybody I know not to vote for him. I hope his political career is dead.
  8. I've actually seen this before. You hit the pole just right and the bottom 5-6 feet pop straight out. The the rest of the pole falls straight down onto the vehicle. Kinda weird, but it does happen.
  9. I got an e-mail from TFA today which named legislators who have made public statements in regard to Red Flag. Much to my surprise and dismay I saw where my State Representative John Gillespie, District 97 has publicly come out in favor of Red Flag. He is a Republican, but also apparently a dumbass. To be honest, I wasn't exactly tactful when writing to him. I was quite blunt. Even insulting. But he deserved it. I sent him an e-mail expressing my displeasure in this. Again, to my surprise, responded quickly. But his response was just a bunch of links to articles in the Daily Memphian newspaper. a know liberal rag. which seem to center on keeping guns out of the hands of the wrong people. I couldn't really tell because all I got was a quick glimpse of the headline and then a paywall popped up. He even took credit for writing an op-ed on the subject. Anyway what followed were 3 more e-mails between us with pretty much the same results. I kept trying to make the point that Red Flag is unconstitutional. Guilty until proven innocent. I pressed this point several times. But he kept ignoring that point and pressing keeping guns out of the hands of the mentally ill. To which I replied: " "I also don't want the mentally ill to have firearms. But to do so at the cost of Constitutional rights is just plain wrong and illegal. You can not infringe upon a person's rights because of what they might do. That's exactly what Red Flag does. If a person is legally declared mentally ill, go ahead, take their guns. But until then, they have constitutionally protected rights. Plus the potential for abuse and misuse of such a law are staggering." At one point he did ask me: ". You live in Shelby County. Are you not sick of the violence????". To which I responded: "Of course I'm sick of the violence. That why I chose not to be a victim. I have had a handgun permit since 1992. Even before the state issued them. I rarely leave my house unarmed. The criminal justice system has failed miserably in Shelby County. And you're part of the problem. But all of this is moot. Red Flag is simply UNCONSTITUTIONAL. GUILTY UNTIL PROVEN INNOCENT. You refuse to see that." It was like talking to a wall. He kept side stepping and not once did he even acknowledge the constitutional issues at stake here. That is a look into the mind of an anti-2A politician. State Representative John Gillespie. If you live in District 97, remember this come election time. This idiot needs to go.
  10. So the gun is too small for your hands, but they suggest going to a smaller gun? That don't make sense. I think we need a lot more info about the problem before offering any advice.
  11. The stocks on that gun are worth about $200+ by themselves.
  12. Yeah, good luck with that.
  13. There ya go. Price: $875 BNIB - Ruger Bearcat Shopkeeper • UNFIRED • Boxes, locks & Docs, • TN. ID REQUIRED! CCW a+ • BILL of SALE REQUIRED • MUST BE 21 NO EXCEPTIONS • TEXT ONLY 4TO3 TO77 844NINE • NO FELLONS ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Way overpriced. I found them elsewhere on the net for $650-700.
  14. My prediction: These hearings will go on for days, maybe weeks. Tons of people will testify. Hundreds of questions will be asked. And in the end, the final report will read "Inconclusive".
  15. Because those big tires pick up all kinds of crap off the road and throw it at vehicles behind them. Lots of damage and plenty of wrecks have been caused by this. It may seem small, but its actually a major safety issue. Just my 2 cents: the driver had surrendered, hands up and co-operating. Dog was not needed. Driver is gonna be rich.
  16. I hear ya Pop Pop. Thankfully I can still do most anything I put my mind to. It just takes a whole lot longer. But then sometimes I'll think "I'll just do this thing." and my body says "Like Hell you will!" I seem to be falling apart one piece at a time. Recently found out my gall bladder is full of rocks. I have an appointment with a surgeon next Monday. Yep, gettin' old sucks. But I guess it beats the alternative.
  17. Glad you're doing good. Hang in there. Don't push it. Do the Pt. Hug your pillow and try not to laugh.
  18. Ain't nobody cheap. Those days are long gone. I use Arms Fair Gun Transfer Portal in Cordova. This a separate operation from their regular gun shop. Different space in the same building. All they do is transfers. Prices are decent for this area and they make it quick and simple. Nice folks too. https://www.armsfair.com/gun-transfer
  19. It was our first time at this show. Its a small one. Wasn't exactly what I was expecting, but not bad. This is really my older son's side hustle. I just go along to keep him company and help out. It gets me out of the house and it can be pretty fun. My son is really more into video and table gaming. We usually go to Sci-fi/fantasy cons and sell stuff there. But this popped up and was right here, so he figured he'd give it a shot. There really wasn't much in the old steel and diecast stuff. Tonka trucks or the like. What little there was was over priced. There was tons of merchandising toys from just about every popular horror, sc-fi or TV franchise ever made. Some pretty rare and interesting. Two things that really surprised me. The Funko Pop figures were very popular. Lots and lots of them for sale. The kids seem to love them, but there are also serious adult collectors too. But for me the big surprise was Hot Wheels. Must have been 6-7 dealers selling only those. Thousands of 'em! I remember my kids playing with them and knew they were popular. As it turns out there's a whole world of very serious collectors out there. Prices ranged from loose, common cars thrown in a box at 50 cents a piece to rare collectibles still in original packaging and displayed under glass for up to $300. I guess people will get passionate about and collect just about anything. We gun nuts should know.
  20. I really think that's the problem. I can't remember seeing a tree trimming crew in years. BHunted: Damn Dude! I hope your insurance will cover all that. You have my condolences.
