  1. I've been to Dixie Gun Works several times. But no, never really had the time to tour the museum. I thought that was just cars?
  2. If you like old tractors, check out Discovery Park in Union City. They have a huge display of old tractors going back to early steam power. Discovery Park is one of those little known gems in our state. A wonderful Museum covering many aspects of history. But I warn you, if you go, be there when they open in the morning. Otherwise, you won't have time to see everything.
  3. Never mind. I was curious as to what Paul Revere was talking about as it made no sense. But it appears to be a moot point now.
  4. I completely agree. The next guy will be a rabid anti-gunner who has had enough sense to keep his mouth shut and out of the public spotlight. That will make him 10 times more dangerous.
  5. You might try contacting George Bowers at GB Leather in Dover. https://gbleatherco.com/ He's more into concealment type holsters, but his web site does show some western rigs. George is in state and a great guy. I've spoken to him at gun shows many times. I have several of his holsters and he made my belt. Excellent stuff, I highly recommend it.
  6. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. That guy hit the jackpot.
  7. Honestly, I'd love for OC to become the norm and a common practice that few paid any attention to. But we're a long way from that yet.
  8. During my trip to Missouri, we went to dinner at a popular restaurant. I was there for a shooting event and feeling a bit rowdy. All of us were open carrying and I stupidly decided to show off a bit. I was carrying a 5" S&W 25-7 .45 Colt in a crossdraw holster forward on my left side. I had two incidents there that have stuck with me. 1. I was in the rest room washing my hands when a young boy about 6 or so came busting through the door at a dead run. He came to a screeching halt with his nose mere inches from that cannon. His eyes got big as saucers! You could easily see the shock on his face. But he slowly backed away and went on about his business without a word. I've always felt bad about scaring him like that. 2. When I went to the cashier to pay my bill, there was a uniformed LEO waiting for a take out order. He didn't say anything, but he sure was giving me the hard eyeball the whole time. I felt really uncomfortable. I vowed then and there that I'd never open carry again.
  9. About 20 years ago I visited friends in Missouri. At that time they didn't have concealed carry and didn't honor CC from Tennessee. However, open carry was legal, so that's what I did while I was there. Honestly, It just felt plumb awkward. Nobody said anything and everyone was polite, but I could just feel the eyes watching me everywhere I went. Nope, ain't doing that again.
  10. Labor Day was what this weekend was for me for me. My old pick-up died on me. Saturday and Sunday were used up putting a new fuel pump in. Not that bad of a job really, but you have to take the bed off. And in my case, removing a bed cover and liner. What's time consuming, is waiting for help to be available to do the heavy lifting. Today I cut grass, did laundry, dishes and general house cleaning. So yeah, around here Labor Day lived up to its name. However, I did find time yesterday afternoon to go to the party next door for a while, grab a bite to eat and do a bit of socializing. That was nice.
  11. It ain't just gun shops. They're everywhere!
  12. What caliber? I have the tools to do a .22. If that's what you need, I'll be happy to loan them to you. Otherwise, the only decent gunsmith I know of in the Memphis area is Kieth Warner in Germantown. He has a very good reputation. There's also the guy at Guns&Ammo. Sorry, I forget his name and I've never used him.
  13. Patience and persistence finally paid off. Today she bought a 2000 Ford Taurus SES. Body and interior are in excellent condition, runs good and everything works. This is the upper end of the Taurus line and has power everything. It needs a couple of tires and the windshield has a crack, But she only gave $2000 for it. She has plenty of money left to take care of those little things.
  14. It turned out to be a non-event here in the west end. The storm turned east and all we got was some light rain. How'd you folks in the middle fair? It seems y'all got most of it.
  15. Yes, I've seen all of that. Thanks, but so far no luck. In the last couple of months we've looked at many cars, traveled many miles and wasted lots of time on cars in her price range, but none were any good. We're checking craigslist and facebook marketplace every day. We saw one just today. Photos looked great, seller talked it up well, but when we saw it in person, it was just another junker. This is getting to be the common trend. You need to understand, the lady is disabled and doesn't get around very well. Her sole income is SS Disability. She probably doesn't drive maybe 50 miles a month. But she does have places she needs to go. Doctors, groceries and such. She needs a car. Its taken a lot of scraping to come up with what little money she has ($3400). A year or so ago, that would have bought a decent used car. But thanks to Covid and all the economic issues its caused, the used car market has gone completely nuts. The lady needs something that is road ready and reliable. She can't afford to buy something that needs repairs. She just doesn't have the money. We keep hoping, but can use all the help we can get.
  16. Still looking. The used car market right now is total . There's nothing out there worth a damn! HELP!
  17. I sure didn't see that coming. Never would have imagined it in a million years. Liberals? What can I say?
  18. Current local TV forecast has it hitting somewhere around New Orleans as a Cat 4. Then the remnants running up the Mississippi and hitting West TN starting Sunday night and going through Tuesday. Calling for winds up to 35 mph and possibly 4-5" of rain here. I hope they're wrong.
