  1. Typical Fort Bragg. What a bunch of tools. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  2. Thats what I meant - I bring it but I keep it in the car. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  3. I'd ask the GF for her friend's opinions of it. Just because it might be bad if they found out and turned out the be anti-gun; no need catching flak from the Lady over something petty. If theyre uptight about it leave it in the car. If not, just carry concealed. From what you said I can tell you're not the douchey "check out my open carry piece" kind of guy. And regardless if I drink or not I am armed. I am grown enough to deal with whatever happens - it just so happens my wife doesn't drink and is a better shot so I am always covered. Never understood why people left their piece behind if they drink - I'd rather have it at all times...I can tell you that Hajji and the Neighborhood Crips do NOT care if your buzzed if they want blood. Either way have fun and GL! Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  4. So it has begun. It wont take long for that to catch on. Yah proxies and VPNs will definitely help, but they are still weak because theyre widely available - theyll just charge you with cyber crime and tax evasion. Welcome to tyrannical federalism...thanks Lincoln! Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  5. Usually with something chemical like this EOD will get involved. By the book - for an airborne chemical event like this the immediate standoff is 5000meters downwind and 2000meters around. Im not too familiar with this compound but nitrates are usually bad for you - especially when they cook off and explode; chem, metal and elec fires are no joke. Looks like theyre erring on the extreme side of caution - won't take much for someone to develop chest pains and want to start a civil suit against someone. I think this is just a greed deterrent. 6. Your PC isnt Rainbow Sausage Compliant...looks like we'll have to confiscate it. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  7. Doesnt help that I can teach my brother in law who is 13 to boot up a BackTrack or Kali Linux image to tank a router or switch... When it is that simple for Johnny Citizen to CyWar your butt, lots of security updates and patches go into it. The cyber domain is ever-evolving. Its like SUCOAIDS...Super Computer AIDS... Would you rather spend 10 mins getting an update or waiting a week for some 4chan nerd running 100 VMs of Kali in a botnet flooding your ISP's routers with hping3. Then the server admins have to keep the hub unplugged and take all week pouring over their wireshark caches figuring out where they went wrong and crying tears of layoff. 8. Ill send prayers your way, it is a noble thing you're doing - probably one of the hardest things an average person would have to do. As Bert mentioned, once he puts down that harmonica it'll get bad. My great grandmother, great aunt and grandfather all went down the same path. After a while they forget who you are and start panicking. They get lost in their house and are scared. I do hope things work themselves out, stay strong. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  9. Its all about making a quick buck, and job retention. If they made everything perfect (never that) the IT field would die...in a fire. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  10. I used both my wife's HP Envy M5 and my Lenovo ThinkPad running Win8.1 and reimaged them with 3 partitions...ubuntu 14, Kali and CentOS. Ubuntu, Mint and ArchLinux have plenty of depositories for drivers and hardware of all sorts no matter what rig. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  11. Lots of the updates are QOS stuff to fix certain user-level glitches. Port management, interface, command line interfaces... In English: a bunch of schiesser that doesnt help the average person on their level...just quality assurance. Just move to Linux Distros, you have a lot more control on what gets updated and why. 12.   First thing - if you got your hands on a JEM or any other military equipment like that you need to turn that stuff in or burn it; that means someone took them. Granted if you find something old like a PRC-77, PRC-25 or PRC-104 they are old Vietnam era radios and those are probably okay. Granted batteries is something you will run into an issue with.   On that note military radios such as that aren't all they're cracked up too be -- especially the PRC-148 MBITR/JEM, to maximize it's potential you need Type 1 NSA encryption in form of COMSEC variables. Otherwise you'll be stuck with VHF and UHF bands. Those are okay, but they are LOS and with the 5W power that they come with you are never going to talk anywhere beyond 10 kilometers, and atmospheric elements, buildings and foliage will further degrade that. Not to mention to have them working they need a manufacturer's Type 3 COMSEC variable called a JOSEKI key - if you're battery dies for longer than 2 weeks then it will lose that key and you just have a paper weight.   As far as radio communications, if you're using like an inter-team or inter-neighborhood communications then a simple Motorola radio will work of any flavor, but for getting to HF and even the amateur band (400Khz to 1.9Mhz) I'd suggest doing some studying and getting your Ham Operator license.   If you can get an old military HF radio, I'd read into HF antenna and propagation theory, there are many different types of antennas and array setups as well as power amplification and ionospheric conditions that I wouldn't even be able to scratch the surface on.   If you do have specific questions on radio communications and data/IT interfaces on the military and (not as knowledgable but) civilian systems feel free to shoot me a PM
  13. I called and harrassed them a few times lol. I was super confused with it. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  14. eFiled my Form 1 for a SBR with a trust back in the beginning of April (17th IIRC) and got it back on Monday. Theyre most definitely getting clogged with those suffering from Sig-Brace withdrawl. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  15. I understand it can be hard to curb you tongue in a situation like that. JMHO: I agree with what you did, he already escalated when he slammed on your car and start toting racial and derogatory slurs at you. Ive been in situations like that in NYC at Home Depots, if he wants to talk all that good stuff he should be ready to back it up. I wouldve laid him out, sorry folks - you get in my face and start smashing on my property I dont care who is front of you. Good call on not pulling out your weapon though, some people arent worth more of a reaction than a slap in the mouth. I wouldnt bother calling the cops, no need waiting 20 mikes for Johnny Law and Sheriff Bubba to show up and take statements and throw a wrench in your chores. Just my 2 Cents, I know my opinions are radically different than many on this board - but if you come at another grown man being super confrontational and disrespectful you better get ready to drop the gloves. 16.   If it's just petty thieves, in my experience, they'll probably just offload all that crap in different pawn shops. If they're slightly smarter than your average potatoe they'll do it in a different state, or at least a different county.
  17. CMMG has a really good one. Just be ready to pause a lot. Helps to have the right tools, I did my first one his a multitool and a butter knife. And put your parts in a hat lol Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  18. A bit off topic but was it ONLY the pistol that got snatched? No electronics or anything? If they lifted everything over $50 you can assume that theyll be offloading it to pawn shops anywhere from 2 hours around you. If it was just the pistol it could be some tweaker looking to score, if thats the case I doubt itll ever surface. Unless it was a really really nice pistol and that could point to someone who knew her. I wish you luck though Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  19. My point exactly Dolo.   The way I figure it, if it is going to take you even an hour of sustained contact, whatever they have isn't worth taking at all. I wouldn't want to waste all those rounds just to take someone's beanie weanies, lol.   Hell, area denial and defensive postures almost deserve a thread of their own. Not that I reccomend "practicing" constructing IEDs in your backyard.
  20.   That's what I meant...I know I wasn't concise in my thoughts.   Reloading and casting is a HUGE advantage...especially since a lot of people use .223/5.56 that brass/ammo is easy to come across and you can feed .300BLK/6.8SPC easily    Now if you DONT reload - I can see having some bolt guns in .30-06, .308 or .300 WinMag as a lot of hunters and hunting supply stores will stock that...and Joe Schmo running around only his PSA AR-15 he put together isn't going to last long   Granted - I am not sure in a SHTF scenario you'll be getting into six hour TICs lol.
  21. A Sergeant Major in 10th Group I knew used to buy a bottle of Jack Daniels, a log of dip and a 36 pack of water and toilet paper EVERY pay day. He didnt drink or smoke, but if SHTF then simple things like sh!t tickets, booze and tobacco will be like gold. Same reason why I dont support limiting yourself on calibers...your fancy .300BLK aint gonna do much at the end of the world...diversify calibers. Dolo brings up the good point of meds...I got IFAKs with all my gear, saline locks, quick-clot (or other hemostatic dressings), IV kits, lactated ringers, compression dressings, ACE bandages, SAM splints, torniquets. Comms is a must, guess im lucky in the Battalion CNR/RTO guy...but getting into VULOS and/or HF or NB propogation isnt hard...even if its simple walkie talkies...HF is preferred since you can homebrew antennas on the fly and if you have enough amplification you can bounce a sky wave across hemispheres. Id never leave the house, unless I knew of this "Event" in advance, my family has a ORP setup in New Hampshire...Id adopt a Spartan society though, everyone pitches into the war machine or Im sawing your head off. All these survival shows are too glam'ed out...you have to be ruthless. Now I should prob take the quiz... Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  22. Set up a victim initiated detonator attached to your own field expedient electrical detonation system made of fireworks so when they go to load your mailbox... Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  23. Definitely echo what Lager had mentioned, I think the most important (they're all very important points however) point is to practice your draw.   To go with that make sure that you have your outfits and the right holster already in mind, my first holster was a cheap Blackhawk softy, that wouldn't cinch down and try to draw from it I was liable to pull my pants all the way up to my face. Find a comfortable holster that wears well, then get used to drawing it in differnet outfits, don't want a beaver-tail or a safety getting stuck in your cargo shorts or jeans belt loops. Same thinking applies to not wearing your sister's shirts when you're out in public, yesterday at iHop this dude was carrying behind his waist band and his wife-beater was riding up on him so he looked silly with his M&P sticking out of his butt crack.   And as always, keep your damn finger off the trigger, this is especially important if you carry with a hot tube (most of us do, I'd like to think) and have a weapon like a HK VP9 without an external safety device.   Along with that, I prefer to carry CONCEALED, yes you can open carry but in all honesty it makes you a target, and depending on your style (I am not making presumptions) you will look a like a tool. I can't tell you how many times I've seen dudes walking around and turning their hip towards people, or finger-banging it in their holster, or checking if they have a round in it. This unnerves people, and makes you look like a major douchecanoe/threat to others.   Keep an eye out for posted places, especially local establishments where they don't have a major corporate HQ calling all the shots.   Don't try to be a vigilante, and KNOW the law. I keep a current copy in PDF on my phone.   Practice makes perfect as always, drawing from the holster and doing other drills are great, but you need to also be proficient with your weapon system!
  24. Sorry about your loss brother. It is an unfortunate thing...even here in 5th Group and 1-101BCT we have lots of soldiers...everyonw from PV1s to SF guys with 6 tours to LTCs seeking help for suicidal thoughts. I lost a fellow EOD student to suicide as well as others I knew of during my time with the EOD TNG DTC, 7th SFG and here on Campbell. Its a damn tragedy, and the media and attention seekers pander it to the point that it loses its gravity The pain will never go away, but you him great honor by carrying on his story. Vaya con dios, hermano. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  25. That is outstanding! Im sure it would've gotten a more priceless reaction at Chipotle or a Starbucks. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
