    Bye Bye Bersa

Ive owned a Keltec P-380, a Bersa .380, a Taurus .380, at present Ive got 2 .380s, a Sig P-232 and a S&W Bodyguard w/laser.  Although I actually like the Sig better overall as a gun, I carry the Bodyguard more due to its pocketabibility.  I prefer a bigger round, but as a compromise, there are many times I caryy the S&W as primary and always as a backup.  Dont like shooting it, but in the pocket, its damn near invisible.
  3. Well...to me its a moot point...illegal immigrants should be deported.  As far as I'm concerned, they can take any guns they have with them.  The rights guaranteed to us in the Constitution apply to citizens, not to the English, the Spanish, Mexicans, Argentinians, Australians, etc...   We may have fought wars to, partially, liberate other countries, but by and large, I believe the only right an illegal immigrant has is to go home.
  4. Not sure if its related or not, as it could be some kind of malware related thing, but I keep getting Out of Memory messages from Windows, and I know Im NOT out of memory since I have 16GB installed and Task manager shows only 2.5 used.  Also am experiencing some problems awakening from sleep wherein it seems to hang up, and only way to fix is to unplug...Guess its a job for Geek Squad, lol.
  5. Im hearing that they were USAF, not Marines...
  6. NextExit, I was there then too.  I was with the cop unit on Ramstein from 89-93 when I retired.  What did you do there?     As far as bugging out, nah...I'll die here...if it comes to it, hopefully in a big pile of spent brass.
  7. Badges?  We dont need no stinkin' badges!
  8. maybe this is the one i Saw before...not 12, but 410... http://heizerdefense.com/category/products/guns/ps1-guns/
  9. Yeah, I know...but I could swear Ive seen one online somewhere, lol.
  10. I think the one I have is the Maxpedition Kodiak Sling bag.  I like it alot.  I wish it had molle attachments on both sides all the way to the top like some of their other bags, but overall, its the best fit for me, and im very picky.  Ive gone through several different Max bags and 5.211 aqnd others til I found this one.
  11. I think I've seen online a 12 gauge version of this...
  12. I downloaded and installed mine on the 29th on my Win 8.1 system I got a couple months ago.  So far I like it better than 8.1 but its taking some getting used to as I tweak my settings.  Oddly enough, for computers Ive always been a PC guy despite loving my iPads and iPhones.  Got a Macbook Pro in a gun trade a couple years ago, but my teen daughter uses it way more than I do. Im usually on my ipad.
  13. I think the one I have is the G23, and I like it.
  14. i always liked LTC West.
  15. I like waze also, but it's upto users to make it work good! It was Israeli developed but I think Google bought it a couple years ago.
  16. Saw something like this at the gun show once. Thought it wa a nifty idea. It attaches to the outside side wall of your gun safe so when rearranging or whatever, you have somewhere to lean a few guns. I thought about making something like this on my own, but never got around to it. http://www.amazon.com/Real-Avid-Mag-Rack-Portable-Magnetic/dp/B0055KW62U
  17. Sorry for your loss.  I lost my best friend the same way this past Christmas. He was a Vietnam and Gulf War veteran.

    LEOSA

I was Federal. LEOSA requires a police approved firearms qual from the state of residence, issued by the state of residence. I have NOT made this happen yet, just got thevLEOSA credential do far, still gotta go thru the hoops for this state yet for the range qual card.

    LEOSA

I've just finally got my LEOSA credential from the agency I retired from.  While researching how to get firearms qualified in accordance with the law, I find that there are several places I can do that, however, to get the firearms qualification card form the State of Tennessee, they make one jump through even MORE hoops. The POST  guy I talked to was very discouraging and recommended that I not do it, but instead just use my TN HCP.   Apparently, I have to go through the Tennessee POST commission, and they seem to not be following the law as established under LEOSA.  As I understand the law, and I have read it many times as well as discussing it with experts in other states, the criteria for authorizing handgun carry under LEOSA rests with the agency one retires from.  They do the fingerprints, the FBI background check, verify your law enforcement retirement in good standing, etc, and then issue the credential.  The credential alone, however, does not permit one to start carrying.  One must then maintain an annual law enforcement firearms qualification  in the state of residence and be in possession of a properly issued, valid LEOSA credential.  TN POST requires one to go through the fingerprint background check yet again, submit another application through TN and pay a another fee, in addition to whatever fingerprinter and the range charges.  They also require a copy of the credential.  The guy at the POST commission told me, and the application they sent me says there are two separate levels of the TN authorization.  One only requires a qualification every 4 years, is valid in TN only and not LEOSA compliant for all states.  The second one requires annual qualification and is LEOSA compliant in all states.  Another problem appears to be that they want a signed letter form the Agency with the information that is already on my credential, which is signed by the agency.  It seems to me that TN is not only non-compliant with Federal law, but is also throwing up discouraging obstacles to keep qualified retired law enforcement officers from legally carrying under LEOSA.     I'vr talked to others in other states, and everyone seems to think that I am right in this and that TN is con-compliant, but they also said nothing will likely change until someone sues TN for this.  Im not inclined to do that.  Has anyone had any experience with this?  Can anyone make any recommendations?  One of the reasons I wanted the LEOSA compliuant credential and authorization to carry was in case I went to a state that does not have HCP reciprocity with TN, I would still be able to carry my handgun.  Although I dont travel outside this state much, one never knows.  In reading LEOSA, all that TN should do is insure that the annual firearms qualification i take is TN POST certified and issue a range qualification card, period.  What say y'all?  Any advice?  Also would welcome any legal opinions from the legal eagles on here.
  20. Speaking of the brace, does anyone know where I could find one at a good price? Maybe on sale somewhere? Also, are there other manufacturers?
  21. I picked up  this gun a year or so ago.  It has shot just fine and I have carried it both as a backup to my EDC as well as sometimes in certain situations when wearing certain clothing, its been my EDC.  Lately, it has developed magazine issues.  I carry it in a pocket holster.  Frequently the magazine will pop out on its own. At first I thought it was because of getting jostled in my pocket that the magazine release button was being inadvertently pushed in as its in a soft holster. Then I tried a new mag and the problem was solved...for a little bit, then started having the same problem with that one too.  Now its all my mags.  And the problem is worse too, now the mag will pop out at he slightest touch or jostle.  Its to the point that I cant trust it anymore, and am contemplating sending it back to S&W for repairs.  Any idea a( what causes this, and b) how it can be fixed, preferably without sending it back to the manufacturer?

    Pocket carry

Think Bond's Walther was in .32ACP, wasnt it?
  23. When I was a cop, we called badges shields.  So when I first read your post, first thing I thought was oh no, a HCP holder with one of those badges!  Lol. Then I realized you were talking about a S&W Shield!  I agree with you. The guy was probably trying to be helpful, but maybe should mind his own business.
