Wife and I chose the form of the Destructor this afternoon. Same experience as @jgradyc. Walked in, voted, walked out.

USPS is supposed to be dropping more off to me today, actually. Will update the store when they arrive.

Hahaha... we probably agree on a lot of things.

This really sums up my thoughts as well. I'm glad to see another AR option. The timing is right for them since the panic buying will set in soon if things go poorly this election and they'll probably sell all of them that they can make if they get them out there ASAP. But the marketing, while nice to look at, had an unusual amount of hype for what resulted.

I don't know if the landowner would allow it, but I certainly would have bollards in front of my stores for the sake of security.

UGH! I hate thieves. Photos from WSMV's coverage follow. The story says that three masked suspects ransacked the store after smashing a stolen minivan through the front. If you know anything, obviously contact the Brentwood TN police department.

Let's see if the problem resolves itself. I had to reboot the server a few minutes ago. A few scripts had failed to complete running earlier and caused a problem.

Seems that most of those describe me. Except for the over 65 part. Maybe I'm an old fart in a middle-aged body.

Oh wow. I am just seeing this for the first time, so my apologies for not responding sooner... but that thing is BEAUTIFUL.

The XD is not a terrible platform at all. The ergos are good and I've never had one that didn't go bang when I wanted it to. It's obviously a more complex design than, say, a Glock.. but more parts in a gun do not necessarily mean that it will be any less reliable.

Definitely not just you... it's loading significantly faster. Thanks for the positive feedback; I really appreciate it.

Rick and Morty, FTW.

If we do another upgrade it'll either be to a larger physical server or to Amazon AWS where we can scale out multiple web servers. In order to need to go there, though, traffic will need to go up more than we've ever seen. This server is pretty powerful!

Ha! I'm glad you were confident because there were nights I questioned ~20 years of experience working with Linux web servers.

Thank you both. I won't lie; October has not been a fun month for me because of the issues we've been having here. Thankfully we seem to be on the other side of that now and the server is performing very well. Just in time for the election! Thanks for sticking with me and with TGO while I worked through it.

No, that looks too small and looks like it is adhered to the inside of the glass on the other vehicle. Ours are larger diameter and adhere to the outside of the glass.

Nice! I will have to give it a shot soon. Conversely, if you haven't tried the Clyde Mays Straight Bourbon Whiskey yet... you will not be disappointed.

How is it? I really need to get out and go to the store today.

Saturday, October 22, 2016 @ 2:30PM Central Welcome back! Today I moved us to a brand new dedicated web server with an entirely different web hosting company. Hopefully this is the start of a better situation for TGO and we can finally put the server performance woes of October behind us. I have done very minimal performance tuning to this new server out of the gate, preferring to see how it performs with a plain vanilla configuration. Tweaks and tuning may prove to be necessary in the days ahead but, if so, they will be done incrementally so that I can measure their effectiveness. If you see slowness at any time, do not panic. I am logging performance data every minute and reviewing it daily to see what bottlenecks might exist and develop strategies to correct them. All you need to do at this point is sit back, use TGO, and enjoy the community. Of course if you notice any glaring problems, please do report them via in the Feedback and Support forum. I will address them as soon as I can. Lastly... Tapatalk... The new server should be more than adequate to the task of running Tapatalk. I will try to re-introduce it in a few days. I really do want to monitor the performance of things without it for a while just to formulate a baseline. Having a good baseline without Tapatalk will be critical to addressing any performance hit from running Tapatalk later. Please just be patient with me. I'll give it another shot as soon as we've had a few days of regular use under our belt. Thanks for being patient with me and with TGO over the past few weeks. I hope the weeks ahead make us forget all about the run of bad luck that we had. --David

Climber; You had two expired invoices attached to your account that were stopping you from buying another. I cleared them out for you, so you should be good to go. Anyone else having this problem, check inside the Store and see if you have expired invoices. If you do, you can renew from those and it accomplishes the same thing. Thanks for wanting to support TGO! I appreciate it!

TGO Moving to Newer Server -- Sunday, Sept 25
TGO David replied to TGO David's topic in TN Gun Owners Announcements
UPDATE 10/21/2016 @ 11:00AM Central The month of October has not been an easy one for us. Server issues have plagued TGO since we migrated from an old virtual server to a new virtual server at the end of September. Performance has never been up to par with what we had previously. Today I have done two things: I have upgraded the forum software to the latest. The software authors say that performance improvements are contained within the code, and we certainly need performance improvements. I have ordered a brand new dedicated server with a different host company. The new server is very stout and we will share it with no one. It is 100% dedicated to TGO. I will be moving us to it sometime this weekend. Basically I am tired of playing games with our hosting company. They've had a month to help sort this out. It's time to cut bait and go somewhere else, which is precisely what I will be doing. It's going to cost me a few hundred extra dollars this month in order to give the old company their requisite 30-day notice to discontinue service while paying the new hosting company their fee as well, but I think it will be worth it. If you've bought a Benefactor membership lately, thank you. Especially in light of the performance problems, thank you! If you haven't but have been thinking about it, every dollar helps me cover the expenses of divorcing ourselves from the previous hosting company. More to come. Hopefully our bad days are almost behind us. -
Post the last firearm related thing you bought!

Was it the one listed here? Those things are nice! -
There were 6 or 8 folks in Chat yesterday mid-morning. I was surprised to see that on a Sunday. As soon as things settle down with the server and I can stop spending my time working on problems like that, I think I am going to set up some scheduled chats every so often when I and a maybe some of the moderators will be online for Q&A and random hijinks.

TGO Moving to Newer Server -- Sunday, Sept 25
TGO David replied to TGO David's topic in TN Gun Owners Announcements
UPDATE 10/15/2016 @ 9:00AM Central Hey folks. It's been a very long 24 hours. If you missed TGO, the feeling is mutual. We missed you too. Or I did. Actually I really just missed having a server that was functional. And as much as I'd like to not have to go through the past 24 hours again, sooner or later we're going to have to. So here's what's up: Our current web server is not performing up to par. It's slow and during times of peak traffic for us, it is downright unusable. If you have tried to use the forum any in the 8pm - 9pm Central time-frame over the past few weeks, you know what I am talking about. It hasn't been fun for any of us and has consumed 100% of my time which means my family has had to suffer through it as well. Yesterday I embarked on the task of figuring out what was wrong with the server. It's new and it should be performing better. What I found was a myriad of problems that soon made it obvious that the best way to fix it was to take backups of our files and our database, and then burn the server to the ground and start over. Scorched earth! That did not go entirely to plan. Our hosting company had difficulties delivering on a rebuild so, at around 11:00PM last night, I decided to just have them restore the whole server from a backup made several days ago. That process lasted until around 6:00AM today. Since then, I have been restoring our database and files to bring us current with the way the forum was right before I attempted anything yesterday. It appears that this was successful in getting us back online... but it doesn't fix the problem of slowness with the server. *deep breath* So what's next? We are going to have to move the site again sometime soon. I am looking at all options. One of them is just to move to a new server with the current hosting company. Another option is to leave this hosting company for someone else. Until then we will limp along. Please do me a favor and loan me your patience. I need it.- 13 replies
