To Mods: Please take these automatic warning messages down. This seller has 38 positive accolades, and these warnings are distracting and probably hurting our collective commerce, especially when they are the FIRST thing everyone sees when we see a post of something for sale. You're overdoing it. I sent a message to Todd suggesting that the warning should appear at the sign-in level. We don't need to be beaten up at every level downstream. Q

'Star Trek' actress Nichelle Nichols dead at 89
QuackerSmacker replied to The Legion's topic in General Chat
I don't care what color or sex (or claimed sex) anyone is. If a person has talent, and a body of work in art, sports, and all other professions, they should be honored and saluted for it, period. That said, Salute to Nichelle! -

And, by his own admission, he has NEVER OWNED A FIREARM! Thanks, Joe! And thanks to some weenie Republican votes.

If I had to do only one (and you say I do!) I'd go with the .357 5-shot, which can defend you against anything in our region, e.g. bears. One extra round out of a .38 won't do you any good in that scenario because you won't get that many rounds off anyway, and if by chance you did, you're shredded meat.

Disposing of bad/unwanted ammo?
QuackerSmacker replied to Grayfox54's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
You have described some of this as "dangerous junk." With that having been said, I would recommend you make some documented disclosure of the risk to whoever gets this, ideally signed by them, or photo evidence of same, or send to the bottom of the lake. -
God can do anything, and does. Adding my prayers along with you.....Amen!

Yeah, somebody made a boo-boo. They transposed a "6" for a "5" on the 30 yr rate on April 19th. Very unusual for bankrate.com -- they are usually spot-on with everything they do. Must've been either an old guy or a newbie!
-
Erik, I don't know where you're finding that 6.75% 30 yr rate. That would imply a rock--bottom credit score, and I seriously doubt you're there! Average TN 30 yr fixed rate as of today is 4.7% to 5.3% depending on various factors. Google these terms "average 30 year mortgage rate today tennessee" and you will see a multitude of loans in that range.

It is true that for the vast majority of investors the best chance for long term success is the classic buy and hold. That is, and always has been, an absolute winner over very long term time frames. The reason why the vast majority can't trade short term is because they trade on greed, excitement, fear, and panic. Emotions have no room in intelligent investing, which is as cool and calm as a shooter in a 1000 yard competition. Been trading for 45 years. Lost a lot, but won more. You cannot go into a trade thinking -- "Oh my god I hope this goes up!" or "Come on, don't let this sucker dip down now!" There is NO ROOM FOR EMOTION. If you can lose the emotional element, and can just be analytical and objective, you're on a good start. If you are experienced enough to have emotions of ice, and good analytical skills, game on! If you can't do these things, (and you probably can't and shouldn't,) then go buy a mutual fund or index ETF and hang on. And when the SHTF, back up the truck and load up like crazy. But that's probably when you'll sell.......oh yikes
-
You CAN do that for a living, if you're reliable at it. Let me know what you're doing, I'll do the opposite X4, I'll send you back your original investment + 20%, and you win, but I win more. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! (Obviously serious disclaimers apply here. This post is for entertainment value only!)

Oh, I don't think he's by any definition a "typical athlete." I love watching that guy play football. Glad Rodgers is coming back too. -

Yeah I figured that. Lots of peckerheads, though I've met some real ladies and gentlemen over the years.

About 25 years ago I met "Red Foreman" on a golf course in Puerto Vallarta Mexico. Some kid working there did something he didn't like, and Red the Mentor put on one of the most rude and extended displays of public behavior I've ever seen. It was serious verbal abuse. Just sayin.......

Ebay just killed their gun parts sales!
QuackerSmacker replied to xtriggerman's topic in General Chat
The problem with all this is that, as a few here have stated, the new $600 trigger seems to include any economic activity. Sure, a job done would be included in that, but not a sale. Stores don't add up all their sales and report that as income. All their expenses are deducted, and their net income is taxed. So keep track of what you have paid for everything, because the IRS can tax you only on a positive difference between your cost and your proceeds. The $600 reporting requirement seems to presume it's all income. That's only true if it cost you nothing. This is going to be such a nightmare for millions of people. Say you bought a car for $30,000. A few years later you sell it to a dealer for $18,000. You DON'T have $18,000 in income by any measure. There's $0 income in that. If that dealer has to send in a 1099, well, that's just as insane as eBay having to do it. For eBay and Gunbroker to be pumping out these 1099s is absolutely ludicrous. The IRS is still way behind in processing millions of tax returns from the 2020 tax year. Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere we go! Keep all receipts and and detailed records of everything you buy! It's amazing our (few) sensible politicians are not screaming about this.
