Now This is a Shock!
Jamie Jackson replied to MarkInNashville's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I just wanted to add that more than a few Constitutionally Protected Rights were trampled on during this mess. We don't more of the same. -
Several good suppliers had 9mm ammo today
Jamie Jackson replied to CJDore's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
LOL; I got the same e-mail on the .22. A buddy e-mailed me yesterday about some primers at Midway....they seem to be averaging about 5-7 minutes from the time I get the e-mail until they are sold out. I guess I just don't know how to actually "embrace technology". I am waaay to slow on the keyboard. -

Thank you Dolomite. I was having a similar discussion recently. While they are no doubt believers in Islamo-fascism, and the acts they committed were beyond atrocious ...they are indeed U.S. Citizens. As such, they are without a doubt entitled to their Constitutionally Protected Rights....just like all of us here. They are Domestic Terrorists. -
That's outstanding Spots. I'm sure your Dad is proud. Do you /does he ever free range the chickens? or are predatory critters too much of an issue? I kept a good sized flock when I lived in Missouri eons ago, and I had to constantly be on the lookout for & occasionally shoot coyotes, foxes, and skunks...and a feral dog or two. And mine were in large fenced runs... But there is nothing quite like fresh eggs from your own chickens.

Good SHTF Survival Fiction Books
Jamie Jackson replied to plank white's topic in Survival and Preparedness
Thanks Spots. I had taken a look at his books on Amazon and the reviews were pretty decent and also stated having a military background would be helpful. I'll put it in the "next" slot on my list. Yer right ochretoe..It's a book to study, not just read. :2cents: -
Good SHTF Survival Fiction Books

I just finished Book 5 of the Tate series "299 Day". imho it's the best of the series thus far. I'm mailing it to my son in the morning as he's reading the series as well. I just ordered "Going Home" that Erik referenced above. I listened to an interview with the author on Spirko's Survival Podcast recently and the book sounds pretty decent. -
Great job! Excellent resources btw.

We started our garden about 8 days ago. I have Kentucky Wonder beans breaking through the soil today. Being a bit behind on our garden we picked up a few Bright Lights Swiss Shard, a couple of Jalapeno pepper plants, and a couple of tomato plants from Mayo's (Knoxville). We also planted some beets and carrots...but the weather is so darned unpredictable I don't know how they'll do. I'm planting some Blue Lake beans, okra, and cucumbers today. We plant in raised beds...and the friggin rabbits are numerous in the burbs this year, so I'm surrounding all of the beds with chicken wire,,,it's resuable year to year and saved a lot of our plants (on the second planting) last year. Live and learn. Regarding beans...fwiw...if you want to try some bush beans, I've had great luck with Walmart's "Great Value" dried beans right out of our pantry. The Red Kidney bean and black beans have done remarkably well for us over the past few years. Fresh Red Kidney beans are darned tasty!

I thought these were illegal?

You beat me to it c.a.willard. Link below...it's not my cup of tea either, but as long as it's obviously a handgun, you should be GTG. http://www.atf.gov/firearms/guides/identification-of-nfa-firearms.html#wallet-holster You gotta scroll down a bit to see the AOW Holsters... -
I carry .38 spl reloads in my J Frame. They are the "Safe Stop" / Jim Cirillo loads... I use Rainier 148 gr DEWC bullets. I carry factory loaded 9mm, and have the components to handload equivalents if the need arises. I've seen/heard the arguments pro and con for many years. We each have to make that decision for ourselves. but...I have to add...when self defense ammo reaches and stays at $2.00-$3.00 a round, then the decision will have been made for me. Practicing with, and ensuring functional reliability with, your carry ammo is a must. If the ammo you're carrying won't feed and function then you have much more to worry about than whether or not it's factory made. eta: I didn't vote because my primary option wasn't available and I didn't want to screw up your poll.

Issue with Lonewolf barrel and new lead supplier......
Jamie Jackson replied to a topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I picked up another Lone Wolf barrel about 2 weeks ago...this one for Glock 19. LOL, I had a similar situation as well. My 147 gr LFP work great for the LW barrel in my G 17, but proved too long in OAL for the G 19 barrel. (1.130"). Those suckers are tight! I seated a bit deeper, 1.120", and they work like a charm, and no signs of over pressure. I picked up the G 19 LW barrel as it will run in my G 26 as well. I've run about 50 rounds of my preferred carry ammo (Blackhills 124 gr +P) through the G 17 and they fed 100%. I've only run about 15 rounds through the G 19 barrel...so I need to run several more mags before I would consider carrying it with the LW. But it's great to have lead bullet options. I wholeheartedly agree that the factory could easily rectify this if they choose to. -
I was talking about this with my wife last evening, and a shooting buddy today. What did Rahm say? "Never let a crisis go to waste"? They'll be on this like white on rice...even if you could definitively prove it was nothing used by reloaders and shooters. It doesn't matter a wit to them. They'll twist it and use it to further restrict us if there is any way possible. God...I hope I'm wrong. :ugh:

.22 about to go through the roof????
Jamie Jackson replied to Steelharp's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I agree with frankmako and others, that once this BS settles down, prices will be higher...hell, our dollar is devaluing daily...been to the grocery store lately? But the $180.00?? Don't think so... -
Brad; Welcome aboard. I'm a member at ORSA (and a West Knoxvillian), but with my shift-work, I usually go out on weekdays. There are Matches at ORSA every weekend...and you don't need to be a member to attend...and I'm sure you can get a feel for the facilities and a good look around. Here a couple of links. http://orsaonline.org/ http://orsaap.com/ http://www.orsaidpa.com/

Tennessee Senators vote FOR Cloture on Gun Bill
Jamie Jackson replied to Worriedman's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
No Doubt you right OS. But repeating the same behavior (voting for someone just because they have an "R" after their name) and expecting a different outcome ain't working out too well for us. And Yes...it's obviously those with enough capital backing that have always won...but we still have to at least try and break the pattern. It's frustrating always, today...pretty infuriating. :2cents: -
Thank you Sir. It's kinda like buying a lottery ticket...only better!

Brownells shipping B/O'd AR-15 Magpuls
Jamie Jackson replied to cannoncocker's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Very true OS. I am in hopes that the fact there will be no ban will have a positive psychological impact of the general shooting public and ease the panic buying tension a bit. Will that become a reality? The pessimist in me (maybe the realistic) doubts it. But one can hope...
