Hey GT Can You Make A Knife Out Of This?
MacGyver replied to Bocephus's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
That old cleaver is cool as is. I'd sharpen it up, oil it up and put it back into service! -
Where to Shoot Shotguns Outdoors (Nashville Area)
MacGyver replied to Hammer285's topic in General Chat
The sporting clays complex out in Bordeaux is a great way to blow an afternoon. -
Can you PM me the email address you used for the other registration? There shouldn't be a need to create a new account.

Tandy has moved to Harding Pike over by Donelson Rd. across the street from Sam's. If you've been to their old place, it's worth checking out their new digs. They've got a lot more space, and it's a really nice shop.

Wow, Steve! Thanks for letting us know. You know where how to get me if I can help with anything here.

Agreed. Great ideas are a dime a dozen. Executing on those ideas to make a sustainable business is really hard. As an old quote - often attributed to Thomas Edison says, "Opportunity is often missed because it's dressed in overalls and looks like work." Or, as Calvin Coolidge said, "Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent."

Walmart doesn't lose money on anything. Their suppliers may, but Walmart will not.

It's amazing what unfilled demand coupled with a lot of hard work will do.

Honestly honest hog gun opinions....
MacGyver replied to Handsome Rob's topic in Hunting and Fishing
I'm jealous of this hunt. There's not much that I like more than filling a freezer up with hogs. Maybe a freezer full of redfish... -

I'd probably pick the Rossi due to your comfort with it, but with that sized pig any of them ought to perform fine. I'm glad for the info on the 336 in .44mag. That one's been on my short list for a while. Does the new Savage not make the cut? edit: Nevermind. I see it's going with you for longer shots. We're going to need a full after action report. -
Any of you sold a house to a person with a VA loan?
MacGyver replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
I sold my last house to a VA-backed buyer. Their inspector didn't really find anything of note. As I recall I needed to line up a door latch so it closed securely and replace a balance in a window. I had replaced the heat exchanger in my gas furnace when I was getting the house ready to put on the market, so I don't know whether they would have caught that or not. Looking back, it was relatively painless. But, I have a memory from shortly after closing wishing that I had chosen a different offer. I don't know that there's any compelling reason to do it in a multiple offers scenario. -
Your priest ought to check out Nehemiah 4. Start around verse 8 and go through to the end of the chapter. I've always found the account in the Garden of Gethsemane to be interesting - specifically the part where the disciple cuts off the guy's ear with the sword. It's not like these were hid under their garments. Jesus certainly knew they were there. Now mind you, Jesus chose not to fight and go to his death - but, his disciples had weapons in his midst.

Wow, what a great trip. Can't wait to hear about it.

Love my Surge. I'm an engineer, so I'm all about the data.

How about a .460 Rowland barrel? Or a .400 Corbon? Just get a barrel fitted and change your spring.

scope or red dot with magnifier?
MacGyver replied to maroonandwhite's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
This would be my advice exactly. You'll spend less money and have a better setup that you'll be happier with in both circumstances. Magnifiers are bigger and clunkier than they look. They perform well, but don't offer as much to the hunter as a dedicated scope would. Were it me, I'd buy a red-dot with a mount that'll return to zero, and do the same with a decent scope. -
I'd start with a plain vanilla Ubuntu install.

Wowsers! That thing is gorgeous.

Thoughts on a polymer SBR
MacGyver replied to Caster's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
I'm pretty sure only the serial number is required to be on metal. I've seen polymer lowers done with a rotary engraver. They looked just fine to me. -
Thoughts on a polymer SBR
MacGyver replied to Caster's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
You save a little less than 3 ounces on the lower considering the stripped TN Arms Co. lower weighs 5.6 oz and a regular mil spec 7075 lower comes in around 8.5 oz. The threaded inserts aleviate some of the concerns, but I think in the grand scheme of things I still might step up to aluminum receiver. That said, with the weight difference, you basically offset the weight of an Aimpoint T1. -
Yay! Now I get to wait too.

You've gone and done it now! Start shooting suppressed and it will affect pretty much every firearm related decision you make.
