money in hand---buy, buy, buy!!   But really--think "wait, wait, wait."   I've bought/sold/traded a lot of guns. The ones bought on impulse rarely stay around.   If you want it, and its a common gun like the ones you have mentioned, sit on the idea for a week. They are making G21's everyday.

  I think it would be very hard for anyone to out shoot a quality, modern handgun.  Put any of mine on a rest vs. my hand and the gun wins. Hands down-- :surrender:   With that said, one may fit me better than you. Therefor, i may shoot particular gun better. It's no the gun. It's our hands or skills/ability/training. :popcorn:

I have this plate--and no, i'm not a member of a bird watching club. But it appears the funds go to the preservation and protection of eagles. Possibly even supporting the program at Dollywood

Depends on where i am. Around town, probably not. High crime area or traveling--yes.

With the flat baseplate I cannot. But, I'm not a small guy so that could be my problem haha. With the magazine with the pinky extension I can easily get a full grip.

I posted a few weeks ago regarding the release of the FNS-9 Compact. After owning a FNS-9 full size for several years, i knew i would have to give this a try. I got several PM's and text messages inquiring about the gun so i have reluctantly written this post. *Please note, i am not a writer or a photographer. I don't review guns. I just take them to the range and shoot. What i shoot (relatively) well, i carry.* Out of the box: Gun shipped with a nice hard-shell case. You get a total of three mags. One 12 round magazine with a flat base plate (pictured). One 12 round magazine with a pinky extension. Also included, one 17 rounds magazine AND the sleeve to give you the grip of a duty size weapon. Size Comparison: Below, you will see a photo of the compact compared to the full size. Considering the full size FNS is not a "main stream" firearm, i have pictured the majority of the size comparison with my daily carry--a Glock 30 SF. At the range: I put roughly 300 rounds through the gun today. I did not have any FTF's. However, the slide did fail to lock back after the 2nd full magazine. I'm chalking this up to standard break-in. 100 rounds of WWB 115gr FMJ. 50 rounds of Remington UMC 115gr FMJ 50 rounds of Hyrda-shok 135gr JHP 50 rounds of Winchester Silvertip 1115gr JHP 25 rounds of Hornady Critical Defense 115gr FTX ~25 rounds of loose FMJ For me, the gun shot well. After shooting it next to my "seasoned" full size, the trigger still needs some more rounds to be broken in. Reset was good but not as positive as a typical glock. I will say--the texture of the grip provides a very secure grip. After my range session, the palm of my hand was somewhat aggravated. This is much better than a slick grip but i think i will get some rubber talon grips. Please excuse my "flyer" rounds. I have no doubt this gun can out-shoot me. However, i didn't shoot off a bench or pistol rest. To me, this is a defensive pistol and it needs to be reliable and provide realistic accuracy. Conclusion/Bias: I have to admit, I'm a Glock guy but i'm still in denial. If i didn't own a FNS, i would be asking "what does this do that a Glock 26 can't." For me, the grip angle is much better. Capacity is two rounds better. Reliability is equal at this point but i think we must note; the glock is proven--the FNS has been on the market for less than 30 days. Personally, i will add this to the carry rotation when i can get a quality holster. But--up to this point, the FNS' biggest failure has been attracting aftermarket support. I hope this changes with the introduction of the compact. I think it a great gun for guys that can't fall in love with the grip angle of a Glock 26 and don't like the grip safety on the XD. And, for what its worth--i think it looks much better than both! --Ben

This is very frustrating. They found a "loaded .45" in a carry on at Tri-Cities this week. The media reported it and talked it up as a big deal. Gun was confiscated but no charges filed.   It's all about the rating. IMHO if it wasn't worth filing charges its not worth reporting on the 5:00 news.

We are toying with the idea of relocation to this area. Any recruiters or HR personnel here? My wife is a industrial engineer by degree with experience in IT. My degree is in business administration with experience in project management and mechanical contracting. We would also consider other parts of the southeast. Thanks in advance for any help!

Glocks. I've owned several. I now own one. The G30sf is the last man standing in my safe. I haven't found anything to match the capacity and reliability at this point.   Glock 19 < FNS 9mm. Capacity is better and ergonomics (to me) are far better Glock 26 < FNS 9mm compact (pending reliability test) Capacity is better and ergonomics (to me) are far better Glock 21 < FNX .45 tactical. THE SHIT--no other explanation needed.   So, a single stack 9mm might still interest me. Doubtful but possible.

The only things I can't find locally on a regular basis is .22 and .44 mag. Both are very hard to find at a decent price. But--I'm not complaining. I can get 9mm and .45 pretty much on demand.

I can do a Glock 30sf later if that would help? For what it's worth, the full size is designed to be in between a G17 and G19. You do retain 17+1 capacity. The compact is between the G19 and G26. It is very close to the size of the G26 but you get a capacity of 12+1 without a extended magazine.

Who's liable? if you were on the jury, how would you see things?   I'll start it off by noting that i believe both are liable. A store should NEVER hand over a loaded gun; it's a great way to get robbed at gun point. However, anyone taking control of a firearm should know its condition without doubt. Both the officer and the gun store representative failed in this regard.   The officer paid with his finger tip and the store paid with bad publicity. I'm not sure this should be more than a educational video from this point on. However, this is America and we MUST blame someone else for our poor judgment...........   Thoughts?

Placed my order today at the LGS. They had a .40 in stock so I was able to get a feel for it. I'm excited about the nine. It's going to be a great carry gun. And, like the FNS, it ships with 3 mags--one flat baseplate, one with the pinky extension and one full size (17 round) mag with the sleeve built in. Should have it Friday or maybe Monday. Probably won't make it to the range this weekend but I'll update once It's delivered. *oh and I was able to order the model without the manual safety. I know that matters to some (me)*
