Personal opinion here. I started using NATO 124 in my first Shield. Love it, and use it now in all my 9s. Yes hotter, but solved the cycling issues in my Shield.

That's right honey. Put it between your boobs and hold on.

Humor aside, pic doesn't look like Coopers Hawk. We have had a lot of Coopers around us since we moved here 13 years ago. Love watching them soar, hunt, and just perch in the trees.

Yes...I have lusted after that E Series Smith for a long while. Gorgeous pistol and shoots like a dream. Plus, the bobtail don't hurt it's looks!

I have been blessed to have owned quite a few 1911s, both in 9mm and 45acp over my shooting years. From RIA to DW, and quite a few in between. Rarely have I ever spent over 1000 on any of them. The lowest price was the RIA. Had about 300 in it. A DW Valor, A Springfield TRP, both in 45; and a Springer Loaded RO Champion in 9mm being those over that price point. The Dan Wesson and the TRP were the highest. Both came in at about 1400. I can honestly say I have enjoyed each and every one of them. Just wish I could have kept all of them. Personally, I favor the 9mm versions. With all of my shooting being strictly range/recreational, I have come to favor the RIA and the Springfield RO the most. Not saying that any of the others are not the equal of these, just for personal choices, these are mine. For me, and my abilities, any of them will do far better than I can shoot. So I can't really say that the TRP was worth almost 5 times more than the Rock, except in show and tell and bragging rights. My advice... pick a shop/shops that have rentals and give as many of your choices as you can a try. I'm sure you'll find that one in all the makers, in either caliber, will stand out for you. FWIW, my RIA was a GI/base model. Changed the sights on it and it's been great. Bangs every time. The RO has all the bells and whistles I wanted, and really more than I need. Neither is a standout to me. RIA for fun. The RO is to impress at the range. lol Good luck in your search and have a boatload of fun while doing it.

Don't get me started there. lol I have a whole wall section of my office bookcase devoted to "superhero" movies. Marvel and DC. Another to syfy. My wife just shakes her head when she comes in. But it's only fair...another section is for her John Wayne and all other westerns. But we cannot discuss the top shelf...All the Arnold movies!

Rifle CO, get a burger & be sure to be packing....

Awesome!! I'd eat there every day! -
Thanks for the correction on ID proof, but the latter two comments I think will still apply. lol
-
Same here. If I read it correctly, no new proof of id, as in birth certificate required? Just join in the cattle call and get a new Dl with the fancy Gold Star? And of course pony up for a new DL before the old cycle says you have to.
-
Maybe it helps...maybe not. But I am a member of both. It can't hurt.
-
So when did these go into usage/production? How does it differ from the regular DL? Does it change automatically with new DL cycle? People in the void want to know. It's my first time to see/hear of this Real-Id thingy.

Yes...I will. DARN! Those Samos are addictive! I have one box left from my Walmart buy.

Can't believe I'm about to say this, since I'm such a fan of compact size pistols. I found the RO Compact just a bit awkward and small for me. I just couldn't get comfortable with it. Of course this was just a shop handle and drool testing. lol Like asu174, I do find the RO Elite Champion 9 to be much more to my tastes. jmo I have found that the 1911 frame and I are becoming good friends, especially in 9mm. I find it much more controllable and thereby more fun to shoot, than other pistols. But I'm just wimpy...can't handle the big boy calibers anymore. lol

The Way of the Gun and Polar are now in my sights for a weekend movie night. Don't think I've seen either one. Doom...Yeah, even a sy-fy fanatic like me got a little put off by it. Especially the so called "Director's Cut". I understand that cursing has become a mainstay in everyday life and language, but that doesn't mean it should be every other word. Nor be a given in every movie we see these days. Now on the Expendables, liked the first. But they went downhill quickly from there...jmo.

Well, plans were changed for me. lol typical. I didn't get to the NG Armory show, maybe next time. Or not. Sparta show does get a lot of commentary. I'm going to try it sometime. Go to Cookeville and spend the night and go to Sparta early. That's my hopeful plan anyway. Until then, just have to be satisfied with talking around here.

And have more than one box of ammo. lol All these reporters seem stunned, or just stupid(take your pick) when some incident occurs and they rave about finding several boxes or hundred rounds in a closet or a safe.

DNA Links Suspect in 1999 Alabama Cold Case Murder
hipower replied to volshayes's topic in General Chat
Yes, the idea has crossed my mind, but I really don't want to know any more about my family past. Too many skeletons in the closets...moonshiners, coon hunters, drag racers, and a lot of other less well-known vices. Seriously though, you'd think some of the so-called intelligent law-breakers would realize that advertised or not; DNA tests and results seem to be available to LEO all around the world. -
Great news, Doug!

Cool. So we are all too literal. Understand that. We all react when our triggers are pulled(bad pun intended). We copacetic ok?

If you're proposing an alternative to God...at least learn to spell it.

Like a safety? That was my first thought last night. Next... Cap, you seem to have a problem with Canik. Fine. Solution...don't buy one, and don't imply someone can't handle a firearm simply because you don't like it.
-
Yes...this one would know. lol Steelharp and I have been known to talk about, and own them. We are pretty much on the ball! Well, one of us is anyway. And it ain't me.
-
Thank you. That's the ones. Not everyone likes the Canik pistols. I really don't understand it. A very high quality 9 at a really good price point. I have never had an issue with mine...except for the problem of deciding if it actually is better than my PPQ. And it really is close. The TP9 pistols are fantastic and still under-rated. Yes, it's Turkish, but we buy from all over the world now. Worst case scenario, you need a part. Buy 2. Use the other for a parts gun. I did. lol TP9sa and the 2nd gen TP9. I actually like the SA version better. jmo. With prices these days, I think that is actually a viable option on the TP9

For you all. Amen.
