  1. Since we don't have the drop-jaw emoticon anymore...I'll just say :stunned:  :stunned:
  2. One more reason I don't go to Florida.
  3. Sent to my email list.   I don't hang out anywhere else, this is about all I can handle.
  4. Thanks, that's a new one one me. Hadn't run into it.
  5. Never really had a desire for a Mosin, but seeing the M38 carbine version got me to thinking about one. Needless to say, they were sold out when I decided to try one. Maybe I'll run up on one sometime.

    Local Gun Shops

Holes in the mag? Man, that's bad. Did John make it right for you?    I haven't been to Specialty Arms in a very long time. At one time, they were my go to shop. But time, other shops, and some private issues with the owner cooled that off.   I didn't like the carry issue, but it's his store. John can and does make his own rules. Don't get me wrong it's been a well known and high inventory shop for quite some time. John has had some great, and not-so-great people over the years.   Steve was always the guy I tried to deal with. Always fair and awnsered my silly questions.  Don't know the current staff, but was always treated as well as any customer when going in at any time.   There's always going to be some issue or another with most any gun shop. It's rare to see one that doesn't have a problem or two.   I guess what I'm trying to say is that Specialty Arms, while  it may not be my favorite shop, it's far from being the worst I've ever been in.   Is that what's called "damning with faint praise?"  That's not my intent, just saying there's good and bad respones to all shops depending on the customer and how he percieves the treatment and response of his specific visit.   After all this, I'm actually going there this afternoon to meet someone and have a look at the new shop.
  7. Just wondering about this. With all the stats flying around about the "frightening" number of firearms in this country, just how accurate do you think it is?   And what is the real number of gun owners in this country?   If anything, I would think that it's above those thrown out by the media. Surely in the last few years more and more people are getting quiet about their ownership.   Yes, the production numbers from manufacturers should be pretty credible. But with all the handed down, brought back for the wars, imported, and home-built rifles; just how accurate can these numbers be?   Just wondering.
  8. That's Great!! I really did chuckle over it.
  9.   That's it! I could not place her. Getting older sucks. Can't even remember where the goodlookin' gals come from.
  10.   Or be really wound up from the withdrawal pains.
  11.   And it is reconfirmed almost daily.
  12. Yes my friend, it is.
  13.  JK...you aint old enough to remember all that.
  14.   What could be bigger and better than that view of Andrea's backside when she chickened out on slicing up the Govenor?   I gotta say she looks pretty healthy for having been lost in the wilds foraging for food with Michonne.
  15. Great information. And you're right...I got a big kick out of it.
  16. Really like my Sigs, especially the 1911s. But the TRP is an awesome piece of work. If you have it now, and are even considering ever owning a 1911, keep what you got. I sold one because it was a far better gun than I deserved. I'm an average shooter, but these guns will make you better. Why did I sell? Not really sure. I remember dollar signs and a stack of bills in front of me.   But seriously, the TRP is a very, very good 1911. I doubt you will have any problem selling if you decide to do so.   And if you do part with it...I vote for Major Kong. He takes great care of his weapons, and appreciates a fine piece of craftsmanship.
  17. Interesting take on it. But I'm glad to have left that music behind.

    Colt Pythons

This is pretty much what I encountered last year. I was trying to buy a Colt 9mm AR. But every email and response had some line that we couldn't meet on such date for a ftf, just send money and I'd get it shipped to me. And as you said, the wording and grammer really set me off. I actually finally got a phone number and it turned out the "seller" was in Ohio at the time, or said that. The orginal ad had him in Clarksville. Then he told me he was active military on detached duty and would have to get his ffl to handle the transaction for him.   It all just got to wacky for me, and I let it all go. I did get several emails requesting my address for shipping. I ignored those.
  19. Welcome in, ferstlerslim. Come on down! You'll like it here. Join one of your brethern from Staten Island. Just sold my old family home to him.
  20. Yes, I saw a short piece on them last year on the Discovery Channel I think. It ended with the comment that if put into production and use, it would revolutionize the survalience world.
  21. Although not a big Kahr fan, I gotta admit that looks very good.
  22.   Great idea!
  23. I think I'll pass these guys by.
  24.   Agreed. I'd love to have some more .22, but not willing to go for the 50+ on 500 rd bricks. Still have a lot of old, and I mean old(60's/70's) remington and winchester from my dad's shooting days. Probably 1000+ rounds, and I take those out when shooting 22. I'd like to have a case or so, of some CCI minimags and Stingers, but not at current prices.
  25. Very well said, JAB.
