I have shot several Rhino pistols and own one. Once you get past the looks and start shooting, i think you will wonder why you don't already have one. I have shot the 5" with full power 357 loads and it sure doesn't feel like a 357. More like a 38. Maybe a little more push into your hand, but not the jarring, rising impact of the traditional 357 revolver. I was a little put off by the price initally, so I waited around for a while. More than 6 months to be exact. Then an acquaintence of mine in a lgs asked if I'd be interested in buying his carry gun. When he told me what it was, I was pretty tempted. It's a 2" nickeled and a real beauty. No wear showing and he gave a few days to think it over. After finding a bit more about the 2", I went back and purchased it. A very good buy at the time. Even like the holster that comes with each pistol. It's a little big but works well for me. Shooting it is not much different than the 5'', I really don't think I can tell much if any difference between them. And if you want a real treat, try a 38 target load in the Rhino. It's no 22, but it's close.

Foam inserts like in a Pelican Case
hipower replied to gjohnsoniv's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Michaels and Hobby Lobby? Don't waste your time. Same product and usually small sections at high prices. I been there and was disgusted. Unless you just luck up on something in an out of the way location, your best source for foam is an online dealer. -
Hey, swatcop, could you post the infor on this guy with the build class? Thanks.

Foam inserts like in a Pelican Case
hipower replied to gjohnsoniv's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
If you want the pick'n'pluck type, the site above is the easiest to find it. I searched for quite a while with little luck. And yes, m14man is right, JoAnn's fabrics is about the highest for sheets of foam. And not really the best quality either. I thought it had a tacky feel to it that I didn't want nest to my guns. -
This may get as much play as the Kentucky Conan. Maybe we should bring him back. Hmmm.

Yeah, saw a short video segment on him a few weeks ago. It actually made him out to be somewhat of a less than stable guy. But I have to think it takes a pretty sharp person to pull all this together and accomplish what he has so far. And the shot of Baumgartner standing in the capsule hatchway is just totally , unbelievably, awesome!

Man. Just reread this thread and realized how much many of us have in common in our reading tastes. Ringo, Correia, Koontz, Ahern, Johnstone, and of course, RAH. The Master by which most sf is compared. Many, many excellent books and writers mentioned here' both fiction and nonfiction. I must admit my taste usually runs to fiction, for escapist reasons, I guess. The ability to step into another life and situation is simply captivating beyond belief for me. Perhaps too much so, as I probably spend too much time and money on books. Almost got cured of that in the 2010 flooding though. I had a great many books stored in plastic boxes in my garage. Had to almost be forced to toss them into the trash. Complete runs of all the Ahern Survivalist books. Johnstone's Ashes books. All the Kenneth Robeson Doc Savage and Avenger. Burroughs John Carter and Tarzan. And every Heinlien I could get my hands on from his earliest short stories, to the classic novels. But water and paper do not react well together, sadly. But to make things better, I think I'll go read for a while.

Congrats. Good to see another Taurus fan. I've got several still, even though I seem to be buying less and less of them these days.
-
Hey, I'll give you the 55 you paid to ship it back for that wornout old Taurus.

Let's hear it for the red, white, and blue!

Possibly, but wouldn't the crescent moon and palm tree be more approriate? -
True, but I gotta get a swipe in on the Neos. Actually had a good, functioning one in my hands. Nice pistol, just wasn't my favorite.
-
Correct fix. Buy a Ruger. Nuff said.

I have no words to express my disgust with this insult to veterans and this country's heritage. -
Believe me, I have you in my crosshairs right now. BTW, before the Colt deal came into being, I was tempted to check with you on your possible sales items. You seem to have everything I might possibly want to look at. Actually did almost send pm on the Bushmaster, but had one, and wanted to try something else. Did get real tempted by a Colt 9mm at G&L though.

Great. Another dang 22 pistol. Just what I needed to see this morning. Now I'll be looking for it. I have a terrible weakness for 22 revolvers.

Weapons? I have no weapons around me. Don't believe in them. Wouldn't have them in my possession. Ask anyone who knows me. My wife however.....
-
That's great! Teach her well, Dad.

No, the Colt came from a private sale. I looked at G&L, both stores, D&T, and a few others to get a feel for the available selection without ordering. The Colt is the SP6920MP-B model and seems pretty nice. Don't expect to make many, if any, changes. I usually leave things as purchased, but a mid range optic system may come later. I don't have to have the high end stuff, I can accept a lot less than a top of the line Eotech. As for the purchases; Saiga was very cheap from a friend, still nib, but quite a bit under the 599 I've seen locally for them. I traded for the Wasr. My only extra cost in it was the travel time and fuel cost. I traded a pistol at a recent gun show for another, then found someone wanting that particular pistol and traded it for the Wasr 10. Just being in the right place and willing to hunt for a while to find what you want at a deal you can live with. I've seen prices, online prices, that is; around 550 lately. But individuals are usually asking more than that for a decent Romanian. But like everything else, searching can yield some good buys. The Colt I paid for by selling stuff I wasn't shooting any more. I parted with one very nice Sig 1911 that I already regret giving up. But that and a couple others helped fund the newest range toy. I've found that for me, if I want something new, something old has gotta go. Wish it weren't so, but that's life in my world. My job you can have. I spent 14 years in automotive part sales, usually 12 hours a day, making 25 to 35 calls a day, and 275+ miles every day in all types of traffic and weather. Big cities, little towns, and hole-in-the wall operations. I left it July 18, 2008 when I went in and told my GM I had Chronic Lymphatic Leukemia and Lymphatic Cancer and would be undergoing surgery five days later for removal of a grapefruit-sized tumor between my stomach and colon. Several operations later, chemotherapy, and radiation and I'm on medical disability, restricted life style and all the fun that entails. But I'm still here. Evidently our Lord still has something left for me to do here. Maybe it's giving all you guys here a hard time? If so, I intend to give it my best shot. (Horrible pun really intended.)

Ok, got the new AR. A colt 6920 and it's pretty nice. So now I'm pretty certain the Saiga will stay unconverted for the foreseeable future. I may just set it in the back of the safe and see what comes next. Or maybe I'll get a wild hare itch and want to see it. Lets see what the rest of the spring and early summer bring....

OK. Thanks to all who contibuted in this, and several other discussions on the AR. I had decided to go with the Colt 6920 and was looking at several shops for pricing. Then yesterday found a listing on another forum. Yes there are other forums out there, not as good, not as much fun, but I go occasionally to check sale items. Anyway, found a young man with what appeared to be a case of buyers' remorse and set up a meet today. He had purchased a Colt 6920MP-B and after looking at it a few days wasn't happy. Decided he wanted another Colt model. Didn't really save any money on the price as to what a shop price was, but did get a still in box and plastic bag gun with 2 Pmags. so since I was buying anyway, I got what I wanted and still got the opportunity to help someone get what they wanted as well. Seems like a good solution. Yeah, yeah, I know, no pics...no happen. But I'm still the lame old geezer without a digital camera and can't post pics here. Maybe someday I'll get drug into all this new fangled tech and do it. Maybe. Anyway, thanks again to all for the input. Now lets see what I can get the hots for next.

Err...because I'm bored and have no job?

Off on a tangent here, but after shooting a couple of the Rhino pistols, I can say I like them. Even getting to appreciate the "new" look. At least in this case, form does follow function. And it works.
-
Ani't that freaking ridicilous? I understand, but it's still rather silly as far a "Part/s" of the total weapon.

Nice gun. Good film and photo work as well. Just one thing wrong. It needed to have been the .44 Mag Tracker. Now that's a fun gun.
