  1. I have had both a Sig 1911 and the Springfield in several variations. As a non-expert, I'd say get whichever feels even a little bit better to you. Can't see how you could really go wrong with either one. If really pressed, I might give the Sig a slight edge, unless you are going to go for a more of a custom-shop build on the Springfield. But since you didn't specify with model of each, how can we really give a fair assesment? But if it's a base model, go Sig.
  2. Haven't watched any this season. Just seemed to forget about it. I'll have to find some time and try the new liberal version out.
  3. I'm a blind dunce. Now that you've pointed it out...I see the Thunderbird pattern. Thanks. I won't ask how you got the nickname.
  4. Thanks for the continuing information, guys. I was leaning toward the Wasr. It does feel a little better to me; as it seems to balance better and on looks alone, seems a little sturdier and better finish than the Saiga I've looked at. I'll have to get the model numbers of each to do some more research on them. Smith, I'll get with you at the store and try to pick your brain, if you don't mind.
  5. That's my place. I just ordered today.
  6. Ok, I'm thinking of getting an AK. Two have caught my interest. A Saiga that is stock, no conversion parts; and a Romanian Wasr, also stock form. Both in 7.62 x 39. Each appeal to me in a different fashion. The Wasr is about 100 higher and seems to balance a littler better for me. Don't really know enough about either to be conversant on them, just looking for some comments for guys who know and own them.. I don't have an interest at this time in any heavy changes in either one. Would keep them as is for the time being. Interest in any comments on cost, features, durability, mag costs, just about anything you'd have to say about them will be appreciated. Thanks.
  7. The judge, Muslim or not, should be recalled from the bench. It appears his ruling was not based on our laws; as he is supposedly sworn to administer, but his feelings and Sharia.
  8. Best comment made. And you awnsered your own question. See how easy that was. We can always help here.
  9. Oscars???
  10. My personal favorite would have to be the Ruger MKII and MKIII 22/45. I have 2 MKIII and 1 MKII. Also a MKIII Hunter with fluted barrel and hiviz sights. Of the 22/45s, one is threaded barrel version with a Sig red-dot and the other with stock sights and picatinny rails. Would like to find a ss 5 or 6 inch bull barrel to go with them. I find myself shooting them more and bigger calibers less these days. Yes, cost is a factor. But it's just so much easier a trip to the range without 30 lbs of ammo in the bag.
  11. Firstly, I do not condone carry in any location that is posted or prohibited. Infractions could cost me monetarily and loss of HCP. Secondly, I try very, very hard not to go to a mall for shopping or entertainment. Stand-alone stores are what have replaced the strip-mall concept and for the time being, seem to be okay. Thirdly, I try not to go anywhere I can't carry. Legally or otherwise. And finally, I will go where I need to go. Take from that what you will.
  12. Oh well....gone and soon forgotten.
  13. Er...ah...
  14. Thanks, R1100R. As I said, not very conversant with the AR platform, thinking of buying another and looking around at brands and pricing. If I can afford the gas and time, I might try to come out next week.
  15. Not much of a knife guy, but the ESSEE knives sure look and feel great. And though I've normally bought only cheap knives, I could be persuaded to look seriously at the JUNGLAS. It has a very impressive look about it.
  16. This. I did mine last year. Called the Sherrif's office and got routed around to several different people. Then got a person who actually knew what to do. Told me to go to the Criminal Justice Center with all my forms and check in at the front info desk. You'll be sent to fill out a form stating why you are there, pay your fingerprint fee, and wait to be escorted upstairs and be printed. Took about 45 minutes from finding a place to park til I was out. And at that I chatted with a couple of officers and the fingerprint clerk. Really very simple. I'd be surprised if you got papers signed that day, as mine were mailed out in 5 days. I was told that was the norm. Perhaps if you knew the Chief or someone in his office, it might be possible to get signature while you were there. It's pretty much a given, but dress neatly and be clean and courteous. Doesn't have to be suit and tie, although I did see one applicant dressed that way, but don't go in with a grubby kill'm all tee-shirt and ragged jeans. It doesn't hurt to present yourself well while there. And to the big question...it was just about exactly six months til approval and my stamp. Actually thinking about another now, but waiting a little while to see what's up with the possible lifting of NFA regs on cans. I don't really think it will happen, but it gives me time to get everything in order.
  17. Thanks for the comments,Dolomite_supafly. What do you think about the new Windham Weaponry? I understand it's a rebranded Bushmaster and that it's being produced by the employees who bought the company. And lastly, any comments you'd care to make about brands would be appreciated. I am a novice on the AR platform and although I have acquired, and then sold some, I really don't have much knowledge of them. Thanks.
  18. Just a little offtrack here, but how about the DPMS brand? Where would you guys rate it on quality and pricing level comparison. Have one in mind. It's just a basic flat top model, but seems pretty good. Could get it reasonably and just add front and rear sights as a starter.
  19. Really different. Bet you don't see another set of those anytime soon. Do you mind my saking the symbolism of the designs?
  20. Great buy on both. Wanna sell the glock?
  21. Thanks for the kind words. Glad you like it. I already regret it, just on looks alone. But I got a few other 22's to play with. We'll have to meet sometime so you can try out the little snubbie. It really is quite a lot of fun. I may actually like it better than my 22/45 with the can.
  22. It usually is a small show, but has in the past had a good public turnout. It probably won't thrill the guys looking to see seveal hundred tables of guns and goodies, but I have enjoyed going there in the past.
  23. Might check with MagicCarpetrides. He's in the auto business and in your area. Not to mention that he's apretty good gun guy as well.
  24. What store? I might need to go get some stuff.
