  1. If the land to be cleared has marketable timber contact Tn Forestry Dept . They can steer you to reputable timber companies to harvest the timber. Most of the bigger timber companies have dozers to cut roads to get to the timber.
  2. Good hunting. Sure the right one will show up. Surveyor was at adjoining property yesterday laying out a 1 acre tract with my decease neighbors house. Had a reverse mortgage on it . They were asking $42 thousand for 2 bdrm built on concrete slab, aluminum siding. Two car garage and a couple of other small outbuildings on 3.6 acre overgrown wooded lot with an old dry pond that was used as a illegal dump. Will be landlocked if they sell house off. Debating if need to buy wooded lot, would have to fill in or clean illegal dump. If buying acreage always check for illegal dumps etc.
  3. The best mechanical can opener I've ever had is a p-38. Have one on my key chain ever since home from Nam. How many weeks, months food supply do you keep in your cupboard? Do you store dry food also or just canned?
  4. Going to need a lot of bullets loaded into cartridges to keep what we already have. Too old to worry about surviving too long if shtf anyway. Have spring water, wood to cook and heat, steak on the hooves , what else do you need. Take no medications, figure if can survive for 6 months will meet up with like minded survivors.
  5. Almost, just need to powder coat the 6,000 cast bullets already cast and size the 4000 already powder coated. Reload a few more rounds. Which color boolit kills zombies?

    New job

SteelHarp even owning a business and being self employed sucks some days, because the customer is always right and Murphy 's law applies 110%. With the economy humming along like it is something will show up for you' I agree the internet has ruined sales jobs in the auto business. Would think there should be music gigs around Music City. Knew a guy that used to be a musician finally got tired of being away from his wife and kids, tired of being on the road travelling all the time quit and got into radio broadcasting. If you have good rapport with everyone broadcasting might be your forte. Don't know what kind of education you need to qualify though . Hope thing work out for you.
  8. Heating costs shouldn't be too bad in Shelby county, relative mild winters etc. Five acres , chickens, goats , pigs remember the smell. Fencing ,feed shelter Minature horses, donkeys, unless you breed them to sell a bottomless money pit Feet have to be trimmed, mane trimmed and hay fed during winter. Minature cattle maybe if you want yard ornaments. All depends on what you want them for, hobby or just because you want them. Nothing wrong with that. With livestock you need to be able to do most of your own vet work Would also want to know how long propane tank has been buried and what precautions were taken to prevent rust snd corrosion.
  9. Could this have been one of the training rifles for the Gestpo youth during WWII? Wife's brother-in-law showed me one several years ago and told me that is what it was used for. Bolt action 22lr and the stock was not walnut ,but that is about all I remember about it.
  10. Only experience with a HI-Point I've had was back early summer casual friend [retired Coast Guard} came by to show his new HI-_Point in .380. Had locked the slide back and could not get it to release. So with a bit of effort we got the slide released and having a bullet catcher out back of my basement door friend wanted to test fire it. Slide was dry as a bone and stiff but he shot it anyway functioned as it should. Told him to take it home and read the instruction sheet on how to disassemble it and to lube it. Big ugly but functioned dry without any visible sign of lube on it. Make a good club if needed.
  11. Do the research about the reason firearms were prohibited by the average Brit back in the late 20's or early 30's people in power were afraid the communist would cause them to overthrow the government. The Brits are subjects of the British govt. They have been indoctrinated too long will never grow a spine.
  12. A balloon of London Mayor wearing a yellow 2pc swim suit will be flown in London to protest the rise in crime. How is that for Karma?
  13. Thanks RED333 can always use a little humor in life.
  14. Back in 1965 when in Vocational School we made a .22 mag derringer for the assistant school superintend. The drafting class drew the prints for us.. Smooth bore two shot, using machine shop tools. Any good machinists can manufacture guns, using cnc machines or older conventional machines. Polymer or steel. Gun smiths do it all the time. So what is the big deal over the 3D printed guns? 3D printers that use metal will be very expensive to use because having to melt and spray metal carries some risks because melted metal is super hot. The Marines just made a concrete barracks using 3D printer. 3D printer mfgs should be a good stock to invest in.
  15. Used to hunt LBL back in the early 80's. Hunted behind the old Iron furnace place back then, was still a lot of open fields there. Haven't even been to LBL in over 20 years so am sure it has changed a lot.
  16. Not where I'm from, even open carrying would not cause a scene. A lot of men wear their cell phones on a belt here.
  17. Back a few years ago was weed eating the fence line around a small cemetery on a farm that I rented and ran cattle on. They were in the ground by a small rotten stump, had already weed eat over the stump and was slowly walking and weed eating when they attack me. Set the weed eater down and started to swat them with my hat, buy this time they were on my face in my hair and crawling up my pants legs, stinging me all the time. Almost tore my hat up trying to beat them off, so jumped on my four wheeler and made a about a 1/2 mile run to the house, ran in and started to pull my clothes off in the bathroom, wife comes in and being in the cool air conditioning they weren't as active as out side in the heat. They then started to attack my wife and she started pulling off her clothes, now imagine two people in a small bathroom pulling off their clothes and swatting at. swarming yellow jackets. Was comical but still hurt like heck from all of of the stings. Have got into many yellow jackets while weed eating because you can"t hear them because of the noise from the weed eater, even got into a couple of bumble bee nest this way also, boy they really really hurt when they sting. I just put some diesel in a handsprayer go back and watch to see where the entrance is and spray them as they return to the nest. Have bushogged hornets nest on a open station tractor and just shift to a higher gear and drive away as fast as I can. Keep Benadryl in my shirt pocket when out weed eating to counter- act stings now .
  18. A ss Walther ppk in 380 is one of my carry guns, in a Sneaky Pete holster. Since getting older seem like everything just keeps getting heavier and heavier to carry. Use a tactical leg holster to carry a Ruger ss service six., when out and about on the farm, even that thing gets heavy, guess need one of the 3D printed guns made with light weight plastic, or if they have one that will use metal maybe one made with titanium cause I ain't gonna get any younger.
  19. Back in the early 60's ordered a British 303 jungle carbine from one of the mail order catalogs and the British ammo for it. Man that thing would smack the daylights out of you, always wondered if it was because of the cordite loading. Traded it off because it was no fun to shoot,
  20. Have vibrated a few thousand .223 cartridges after reloading in walnut media, makes them look like new.
  21. My neighbor was telling me about the velvet hunt Sunday morning, am sure he will go as he processes his own deer. He takes a cooler with him in the early bow season for the better cuts of meat. Haven't hunted deer in 10 or 12 years, so luck to you guys still going.
  22. Maybe the city council person will go on patrol with the Chicago PD and experience some of the reasons the police unholster their firearms. Fantasy thinking again but it makes me feel good.
