  1. You're not going to be competitive for a while unless you're some kind of phenom. So, the gun isn't going to make much difference in your performance early on. You could start with an M&P Sport until your skill level gets to a point where upgrading your equipment will be the only thing that moves you up in the brackets. By then you could have saved enough to build a gun that will make you competitive and you'd have much be3tter fundamentals..
  2. I think you did a pretty darn good job on the handle wrap. Helluva lot better than I can do. I can't get the hang of paracord wraps at all.
  3. uh oh, I think I've been the "you gotta shoot this" guy before.
  4. as a guy who spends several hours a day at his workbench...there's some pretty cool plans out there for folding workbenches...just saying

    VZ2008

Before I started spending all my time here, I used to hang out on the CZ forum a lot. All I heard was great things about this gun. I've wanted one for a while myself. That's a darn good price too.
  6. This is what I was going to suggest. If I read the OP correctly, the muzzle end is what is causing the wear. Seems like the best solution to me too. My pocket holster is starting to wear marks on the front/side of my pants where it rubs against stuff on the outside, but it's not very noticeable yet. I get more wear on my shirts. Almost every shirt I have has holes where the back of the slide is rubbing against stuff. As soon as I noticed, I started tucking my shirt behind my holster when I buckle my seatbelt, but I can't do that at work. Chairs with hard backs and/or arms still rub holes. Par for the course, I guess. Beats being defenseless.

After watching that clip, I'm almost embarrassed to admit that was my favorite show back then.
  8. Ironically, it was a foam missile from a USB launcher in my coffee cup that made me decide to build the trebuchet. It was one of the good launchers with the camera and everything. They are very cool.
  9.   Because of how short the matchstick is and how it has to lay in the channel on top of the crossbow, fletchings would get torn right off. Regardless, you'd be surprised how stable they fly. Occasionally, a warped or malformed one will curve in flight, but the straight ones go pretty darn straight.
  10. I tried to use your link, but the first bounce to FB was a no-go for Chrome on iPad. Will try again from work later.
  11. Why do you think I wear slip-ons?
  12. At < $7 for 50 rounds with plated bullets, I wonder how I ever afforded to shoot without reloading. Imagine how cheap these guys that cast their own are coming out. Makes me wonder how I can afford not to cast my own, LOL.
  13. Congrats on the new pistol. I have the 3.3" .45 and love it. I had the same "love at first sight" reaction you did. I only carry my beloved CZ P-01 on weekends now.
  14. It's what happens when there's no good TV on.
  15. You're just jealous because it still takes you 3 tries to tie your own shoes ... 4 tries if you forget how the "bunny went under the log" story goes.
  16. Oh Shoot turned me onto these mags a couple of years ago. He was kind enough to sell me a couple at a reasonable price and I went and bought 6 more from SportsmansGuide.com for about $27. I used them for well over a year without any issues of any kind until I gathered up enough self-respect and dignity to buy 10 Magpul Gen2s. Now that all I carry to the range...can't risk somebody I know seeing me using Thermolds. I have reliable intel that says they're made out of melted Pringles lids.

    Ruger LCR in 9mm

That sounds about right to me for those 3 guns, IIRC. The LC380, which followed was basically the LC9 re-chambered in the weaker .380 acp.

    Ruger LCR in 9mm

Agreed. Overall, they're a great company. They always seem to have their finger on the pulse of the average buyer and have more than their fair share of iconic guns.

I totally agree when it comes to Glock. Afterall, they're as good at marketing as they are at making guns. I question whether Ruger is smart enough to hold back a good idea/product just to maximize sales. Remember, they came out with the LC9 before the LC380.

    Ruger LCR in 9mm

Coming out with a .38 first, then a .357, and then a .22 before a 9mm seems like a natural progression to me.It makes a lot more sense to me than Glock picking .380 instead of 9mm for the 42.
  21. I'll make sure I pack plenty of aluminum foil, if I ever head up to DC. LOL
  22.   Yeah, I have to keep a few things in my wishlist or cart until I have a big enough order to justify the shipping.
  23. http://www.gunsamerica.com/blog/missouri-legislature-overrides-governors-veto-approves-arming-teachers-bill/ Their state legislature had to override a veto to get it done, but they did it. Training will be required and participation by districts is not mandatory. Knowing how liberal most principals and superintendents are, I doubt many schools will ever take advantage of this potentially life-saving legislation.
  24. Couldn't you just enlarge that pic you poste to the size you want and print it out?
  25. wow, impressive story...toughest guy I've ever heard of
