Open Carrier Gets Robbed of His Gun
A.J. Holst replied to gun sane's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Saw a OC today, 6 shot SA, in a beautiful leather rig. Having taken a pistol class with a modern 5 shot revolver...really???...unless you're the reincarnation of Bob Munson (or maybe Cruel Hand Luke) there are better options out there -
Virginia to end reciprocity with 25 states
A.J. Holst replied to Chucktshoes's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Been in the Tri-cities since Tuesday. Have traveled from State St to Volunteer and vice versa multiple times. From State to Volunteer, you're on the TN side on the return trip, you are in VA. The only control the guv'mint has control is when you break a law. When there aren't enough law-breakers (read that- we don't have enough control) guv'mint simply makes more laws... Maybe I'm simply an alarmist since I read Atlas Shrugged. -
Except for the shell game the insurance companies play for negotiated services...the doc bills for $400, agreed upon reimbursement is $100, your insurance company "saved" you 75%! Makes you feel good about your insurance carrier...

After I grew into my 2" space for iwb, it was owb or new pants. I chose the Comp-Tac paddle for my CZ P01 - love it.

The test for a cz52 is put a pencil down the barrel, eraser end first, cock and decock. If the pencil jumps, don't use the decocker. Mine works fine but I still don't 100% trust it, even with though the 52 is equipped with a FPB.

1st TN (Knoxville city) speeding ticket...any advice/tips
A.J. Holst replied to scinmyheart's topic in General Chat
Go to court, DA asks if you'd like to plead guilty, pay the fine and walk away with no blemish on your record. If you agree, you are called before the judge, asks if you like the deal you're getting from the DA and away you go. At least that was deal I got in Knox County about 1.5 years ago. It's entertaining to listen to the habitual / non paying previously busted poor drivers. I was amazed at the number of did not appear and bench warrants issued. Court cost and fine was equal to fine for speeding...ymmv -
Kalashnikov will be building rifles in Florida
A.J. Holst replied to MP5_Rizzo's topic in General Chat
The gun will now also be produced in Florida, a gun friendly state with relatively loose gun laws. What is a loose gun law? What does that have to do with production since the article also states they are not licensed to directly sell... -
From boating and Boy Scouts, Rubbermaid plastic totes get my vote. Get some desiccant for moisture present in the ambient air when you snap the lids on.

Been there, paid that... And since the FairTax is not progessive for upper income and regressive for lower income (according to Forbes and others) let's simply stick with the system we have which requires an army of tax lawyers to make sure you are not breaking the law. 70,000 pages http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/look-at-how-many-pages-are-in-the-federal-tax-code/article/2563032 And a counterpoint from a tax attorney who says the current tax code is ONLY 2600 pages http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/politics/2014/04/how_long_is_the_tax_code_it_is_far_shorter_than_70_000_pages.html

Clinton: Obama would be a great Supreme Court justice

I would think understanding we even have a constitution would be a minimum qualifier. -

When I bought my Metro Arms commander at the GUN SHOW a few years back, it was 425 OTD. I haven't seen a MA 1911 for sale in recent history and not for less than 600

Guns & Leather discusses Internet tax loophole
A.J. Holst replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in General Chat
For you LGS owners, be aware that on average 40% of consumers buy on price...take heart because the good news n is 60% of your customers buy on value. Provide enough value and a great customer experience and you may convert some of the price only buyers... -
Here's a cold war option which I have been debating since I have a CZ handgun to go with it. http://www.southernohiogun.com/handguns/surplus-handguns/pps-43c-pistol.html SBR it, mount a modern site and I think it would be a bad-@$$ PDW. downside is the hollow points ain't cheap and modern ball is about .50 a rattle The 10" barrel is reported to be the optimal length for the 7.62x25, but I can't cite the source

Affordable = HiPoint in this category. Got one, TS stock, like it, never failed, ran it in a one day rifle class with Randy, $30 BSA red dot works well with low recoil, with a front bi pod fun plinking for 50-100 yards, has rails, cheap (ish) to shoot. Longevity? Who knows, it's not a main battle rifle and as a home defense/plunked are you really going to wear it out? 10 round mags make for a lot of reloads... Most failures occur due to the inconsistent specs on the mag lips, a quick Google search cab explain better than I. That nutnfancy YouTube guy did a pretty complimentary video
