  1. I know it's a bit late but one of the best remedy's I've found is run a tub of bathwater as hot as I could stand it pouring about 1/4 or so of a cup of concentrated bleach into the water as the tub filled. I'd soak in the tub until the water cooled down. Then stand up, sluice of the water as the tub dries and towel dry. It dries the skin oil and really reduces the itching. I've used topical ointments, Benadryl and cortisone too.
  2. Good observation on the utility of the G-19 and popularity of that sized platform. I'll be interested in taking a look at this new S&W since I've been considering a replacement to the G-19 I traded/sold sometime back. I'm not crazy about a high capacity service pistol (which is what this still is) for EDC though.
  3. I purchased a Sigma as soon as they hit the marketplace and almost immediately traded it for a Glock 22 and have been soured on S&W pistols since. But the SD 9mm is a solid product and a great value for the dollar, enough so that I'm probably going to buy one specifically to keep inside my truck secured in my disaster bag. I'd meant to do this a while back and forgot about it so thanks for the reminder.
  4. Honestly if she can handle the recoil in a BG or Bersa then she should be able to handle the recoil in a standard barrel S&W Model 10 or a Colt Police Positive. A Ruger Security Six or Speed Six would do the trick as well. Just stick with a standard velocity .38 Special round in it for her. Buffalo Bore offers one for older short barrel .38 Special revolvers. https://www.buffalobore.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=111 I've yet to encounter an older S&W K frame or Colt PP that a good cleaning and proper lubrication failed to improve the trigger pull. But if that fails to do the trick spring kits are easy installations. Thumb cocking a DA/SA works just fine for folks as well. I don't have a problem with a .32 S&W Long set up with a good defensive load instead of a .22 Magnum
  5. I'm guessing that your going the backpack ultra-light route and not the Light Sport paramotor trike. Neither of them are much fun in very much wind FWIW
  6. That looks to be in mint condition. I've got a 31.1 from about the same time period with the 3" barrel and it really surprised me with its accuracy. The 32 S&W Long is just a great caliber for recreational shooting.
  7. I'm interested in one but considering I only just got around to finally buying a G-43 this past Wed. it'll probably be a long time before I drop any coin on one.
  8. I agree with Dolomite's comments on the Hobart 140, it's a great value for the money, particularly for home or farm use. I haven't tried or needed a TIG yet but will be needing to purchase a decent stick welder and Oxy-Acetylene set for my hobby blacksmithing.
  9. I really like how that turned out and the visual results of the differential heat treating process, very nicely done.

    The Mummy

Cruise isn't terrible in The Mummy but if you've watched more then a couple of his movies over the last few years you'll realize he keeps playing Tom Cruise acting like Tom Cruise acting in all of them. The special effects and a few of the co-stars in The Mummy make it worth viewing. I'd just go the least expensive option on viewing it that I could.

    The Mummy

It is and FWIW the two female leads and the partner Cruise's character had did the best acting. Garufa already pointed out that the two "big name" actors in this movie aren't what they used to be acting wise.

    The Mummy

    I completely agree.

    The Mummy

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2345759/ I don't know if any of you have watched the latest reiteration of The Mummy with Tom Cruise in it but I went ahead and watched it yesterday. The film reviews haven't been all that great and I wasn't all that impressed with it but still thought it was worth watching. This is probably one I'd recommend waiting until its available for rental to watch but if you can get into a discounted matinée it'd be good. Special effects are very good and some of the characters are good. Cruise is his usual plastic self but Russell Crow's character made me laugh it was so over the top.
  14. Contact S&W then and see what they can do for you, I've sent several revolvers back to them as well as to Colt for repair and refinishing. Action jobs aren't out of the question either. I don't think you'd have to worry about them letting someone incompetent doing either custom work or repair.
  15. I tried different soft lens without success due to the level of astigmatism I have but mostly compounded by how my eyes contaminated soft lenses. Then I tried gas permeable hard lenses which worked great until dry eye problems came into play. If your eyes produce the right level of moisture I'd discuss this with your eye doctor. But if your comfortable with having LASIK done and fall into the desirable perimeters then think about that.
  16. Oh I suspect we're going to be seeing a lot more of Gal Gadot in films and suspect someone has some film of her doing firearms training when she was in the IDF where she was a trainer.
  17. I watched the recent Batman vs. Superman; Dawn of Justice movie http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2975590/ earlier this morning and wasn't as pleased with it as the Wonder Woman film. But Gil Galdot's Diana Prince and Wonder Woman characters were great and the film was a great lead in to her current Wonder Woman film.
  18. Gus's fried chicken is one of those places anyone visiting Memphis should go by and give it a try. And as to the heat and humidity, yeah it can be pretty bad some days.
  19. I won't disagree but overall whoever did the casting for this film really outdid themselves.
  20. Anyone watched the new Wonder Woman film that's out now? Against my better judgment I did and was surprised by the fact that I liked the movie. I'd never thought of that movie venue being set in a circa WW I setting so it was a different spin of the storyline. The cast for this movie were really good. If you don't care to go out to see it then I'd recommend viewing a DVD or download when you have a notion to watch it.
  21. I agree. But the second one wasn't bad.
  22. It's to bad you couldn't find something to do or somewhere to go that took you by Midsouth Shooters Supply because you can pick your orders up there in person. That's what I generally do, I call in the order, tell them I'll be by to pick it up and its that easy.
  23. I don't own a S&W .45 ACP Shield but I've handled a couple and shot them, I did own a Glock 36 and shot it a fair bit. I feel like the Shield is a ergonomically a better feeling pistol and comes to a natural aiming point more easily. I'm so-so on the trigger but don't consider is a deal breaker. Overall its a nice pistol.
  24. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karambit Historically the Karambit has been used as or compared to a claw, I consider the Spyderco Civilian a more specialized refinement of the Karambit. If I had get someone off of me in order to save my life and didn't have a firearm on me then deep gouging blade slashes resulting in massive blood loss will do it. If you've ever seen someone who's been cut up in a knife attack you could probably better understand the Spyderco Civilian design.
  25. I'd consider looking at one to see how the overall weight & balance as well as grip angle and such felt in comparison to the XDs9. But aside form that I doubt that I'd have any further interest in that particular model line.
