I had the subcompact and it was simply way, way too wide for me to enjoy carrying it. Its possibly the fattest handgun I have ever owned. It was reliable and shot well etc, zero problems it just didn't fit physically to my needs. Also a little on the heavy side for modern CC, I *liked* that as it tames recoil, but its no lightweight.

sorry to hear it, that is rare these days. It can go all appendix on you.. it can swell, get infected, and rupture spreading a fatal infection. It hurts like all get out before it does that, so people usually make it to the ER before it blows out, but not always. Some ppl just bear it thinking its bad indigestion until its too late.

ER doctors struggle with this one for sure. They know how to fix a bullet hole, though. When I had mine out the doctor on duty wanted to give me a "cocktail" they make for upset stomach & send me home but I was having none of it. Took them about 4 hours (actually looking at me, though) to finally say "well, maybe it could be ... naaah, ya think... hes too young ..." so they pack me off to ultrasound it and sure enough it was the GB. Pulled it out my belly button and ive felt 300% better ever since. I never knew how sick I really was until that thing came out.

Ole brian is taking a lesser position to allow him more time for his adventures, like circling the globe in a jet powered hot air balloon while dodging scud missiles and such.

yea, to each their own. If they convinced me of ownership, I view returning it as no more risky than a sale/trade type deal, with the same safety precautions. It would be a hassle to meet up but a minor one, well worth it. I know if it was mine Id rather just have it handed back to me than go thru 1000 questions down at the police station or whatever else might be involved, so and that is how I would make it for the other guy if I found one.

well I would not expect you to! I would likely post an untraceable message in the bathroom or a person who handles lost and found... "interesting item found in men's bathroom. If you lost something contact unknownperson1234@gmail.com... describing the item perfectly to claim it." Convinced as to the owner, I would happily return it. Im not going to give it to the front desk or lost and found ... stuff of *value* gets looted by employees. Im not going to the police -- they alternate by department for keeping guns and never returning them or freaking out over it. The only person I trust to handle the situation is myself, actually.

I would try to find the owner but they would have to know the serial #. If not, finder's keepers...

Stem Cell Transplant gave me my life back. (Long Read)

that is amazing, so glad you are doing well! This treatment is going to do a lot for a lot of people. Similar treatments have already cured aids and MS in some patients. The reset of the immune system was considered dangerous even a couple of years ago (keeping tabs on the process) ... if you get a serious infection after your immune system is disabled, its game over... but the process is getting better and the stories from the patients speak of an up and coming miracle / breakthrough .... congrats on getting in on a early run of it! -
Home Defense Shotgun - What is your take
Jonnin replied to Pete123's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
this is like calling bullseye pistol techniques useless for home defense. Well, they are! You don't need to hold your breath and fool with sights on an AR OR a shotgun either one at home defense distances. You point the long end of it at the bad people and spam pull the trigger. The ar has an advantage here of holding more rounds, having less recoil, and is generally easier to use. Its exponentially easier to use than a pump gun, but even comparing my ar and semi auto shotgun, the ar has 3 times the capacity, reloads a lot easier (I don't have a fancy stick loader), and about 1/20th the recoil. Its simply easier to use. The shotgun has the physics advantage per hit, and not much else. -
this and sir goony's beat the heck out of all the tourist trap garbage IMHO. Let me think on it... pay $20 a person to look at some ROCKS or a WATERFALL or.... spend a day riding go-carts or doing paintball or playing skee-ball?

or a 30 round 22 mag...

which is wrong IMHO. Send them thru 2 weeks firearms practice and training (possibly unpaid). Sending them home and people are like teenagers that discover that doing certain things at school gets you a 3 day break from school ....

I wonder if that is the old commercial... they sometimes bring back an old one ...

converting old surplus nvg cases to pelican boxes?

don't think square. A good sized gun would fit inside on the diagonal. I would bet you I could get a 1911 in there on the diagonal, it would be close... do not use pre-cut foam is my advice. That stuff loses chunks one by one over time no matter how much you baby it. Let the buyer cut their own foam. I don't know what you paid for them but I would pay $20 for such roughly if I needed one. -
training aside, it would seem that a tiny # of officers have gotten in the habit of resting their fingers on the trigger with the understanding that the excessive trigger pull won't go off without more force being applied. This is not working out well for a usable trigger that goes bang when a small amount of force is applied. I suspect this has nothing to do with training and a lot to do with a small # of people doing it their own way and getting schooled on their mistake.

I love my remora pocket holster. It has a rubbery external coating that sticks well to the pocket, and it is fairly thin. It has held up over 2 years of daily carry without any major signs of wear apart from stretch to fit / break in. I tried ankle and never found anything I liked due to weight, pants/socks/shoes and all it never quite fit me.

You need the eye doctor. *ANY* sudden changes like this that are ongoing require an expert. Best case is you waste a trip to see him and its just scratched or something from a piece of trash (eyes are pretty self cleaning, but a scratch can last for days even after the offending piece of trash was cleaned out). Worst case, he saves you from something bad ... your regular eye doctor can, if any good, spot problems and send you to an expert. He may not know exactly what it is or how to fix it but when that happens he knows where to send you. If you can't get in quickly to the expert, try your regular vision guy... and if its just a scratch he can see that with his tools and tell you.

I agree, you wouldn't do it on a carry pistol unless you had very serious medical issues. I mean you can turn a 9mm midsize into (effectively) a light recoil 380 with this method, and if that is all you can handle... but it would be a very uncommon thing to do. I could see myself doing it when I get to be 80 or so.

Glocks have a long, mushy and very light trigger pull. If you memorize it you can jockey the short reset but the default full release or first pull is like that. If you are used to long heavy triggers or short instant triggers, you may be doing various things like compensating for the sideways pull done when a heavy trigger is pulled or pulling the gun because the "goes bang" moment is not what you are used to (that is, you expected it to go bang earlier or later than it did and fired when slightly out of position) or jerking it hard thinking to pull a heavy spring that isn't there etc. My advice is to dry-fire /snap-cap fire it while aiming at a target and observe what happens to the sight picture as you pull the trigger. This will show you exactly what sort of compensation/flinch/whatever you are doing. On TOP of this the bore axis on glocks is "slightly off" the normal angle that the vast majority of other guns use. This can mess with people at first.

you drop the recoil spring and use handloads that are lighter for a low recoil gun. this can be more accurate and or easier to control -- I have a 1911 set up this way, and the recoil is super tame in that heavy frame with about 85% or so loads. You wouldn't use a weak spring and full power loads without a reason; one reason to do that is a weak shooter that limp wrists can do it to offset their physical limitations (here, limp wristing due to lack of strength rather than technique)

It seems safe to me. I replayed it in slowmo & his hands were not in front of the barrel. They very well could be for someone who got in a hurry or was careless, but that is like any improperly used technique. Seems like you would need extremely strong hands to do this on most guns, or a custom gun with something to grasp there, to really make it worthwhile. Note that he has to twist the gun way off target to the side to do this maneuver. I understand its a demo but its also of zero value since ... your gun would stay open??!! His gun did not open after last shot, and he had to do a full rack because of it. He needs to get that repaired. It "might" be useful for a scoped gun, but there again, since it would stay open, probably not. And you probably won't be using scoped pistols in any sort of competition or defense etc that involves reloading the gun (?).

After a while you get crud in the rifling and it starts to shoot a bit off. After a while the bolt and trigger bar and other pieces get caked on soot and you can feel it in the action. After a while, it needs cleaned. A while depends on what ammo and how much of it -- some is cleaner than others. Mine is blued, so I clean it also to keep the rust at bay. It is rare for me to do a full break-down but I do that at least once a year, sometimes twice if shooting a lot. The dried rem oil is not really very good from my experience. It protects very, very well against rust, but its too thin and does not last under heavy use. It might be ok for very light use.

um, if its like the one I had, its a single shot. I would not care to be shot by one but in terms of raw firepower its behind the curve a bit.
