45ACP. lead cast bullets. Hardness ratings.
MarkInNashville replied to vujade's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Is there a rule of thumb about how hard the bullets should be for differing calibers (say: 9mm, .40 and .45) or does it have to do more with the speed of the bullet? Say, for example, I am going to shoot in competition, as slow as I can (to minimize recoil) but enough to make power factor? And most lead bullets will be pre-coated with alox, wont they? And do you have to use a gas check? -

Thanks guys! I'm just showing what I don't know here. I have not thought about casting my own but I have loaded 500 rounds of pre-made rounds - didn't know about any of this stuff. I do want to switch back to lead once I am out of jacked. -
I use, love and suggest a Crossbred Supertuck! I just looked and it appears to me that they have one for a Walther PPS. I will tell you how much I love it - I was working on my kitchen sink one day and had to go pick up some supplies, so I carried (as usual) my full sized M&P .45 - I got home, crawled under the sink and was working on it for a bit, when I rolled over to hear a THUMP! It was then I realized that I hadn't taken the gun off. It IS comfortable! D&T Arms.next to Rivergate mall, (A TGO sponsor and damn fine folks) are the local dealer in middle TN.

I used to have a 150# rottweiler - I gave her 2x4's... she chewed them fast but face it, there was plenty of it. I made the mistake of giving her a deer femur once - just the sound of her crushing that bone made me have chili's so badly it disappeared into the backyard! Most of the toys made by Kong are great!

Is there a Burlington Warehouse around there? They are known for their coats but I bough several suits there (in a former life).

I told Mom they followed me home from the gun show....

Not to steal the thread but how can you resize the bullet? -
Well now, face it - Jasen wore some pretty skinny jeans! lol But you are correct. I told him a few months ago I wasn't going to treat him special and he said "Good, I don't want to be treated special, I'm not". I said right, then load your azz up and lets go to the range! I told him that he could shoot right from seating in the truck, that he could put the window down. I sure wish he had been up to it.!!!

Everything you have said about Jasen is completely true. He would be the first to don't feel sorry for me! I am going to miss the hell outta him!! Thank you for posting this David.

The first thing I thought of, while watching the video was that guy in Belle Meade, TN - carrying a gun, in his hand, when he said "I do not give my consent for you to search my wallet" about 3 times. Sorta makes me wonder if he wasn't trying to prove a point. The "perp" (the veteran) said he had numerous tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and the cop asked what he would do there, the guy said, man this isn't Afghanistan. But think about this, that could have been as much or more "action" the cop had ever seen in Temple, Texas, or he may have just been shot at the day before. A solder is quite used to being around other armed folks, with slung riffles. It would make me uncomfortable to be around guys that I didn't know like this! I do think that if the officer was afraid that something may have happened he should have drawn his weapon and ordered the person to disarm. A) we didn't see the entire thing, B ) we do not know what exactly had transpired. I don't think it was handled appropriately but I'm not sure what the best approach, in a situation like this, would be and truly hope to never be in a situation anything like this!

I have a Commander that I stopped carrying and shooting to much. It is now backup nightstand protection. I picked up a couple of M&P's that, while I can't say that I use them as nail drivers I do tend to pound anything that might need a pounding.

HCP Class Surprises
MarkInNashville replied to Cherokee Slim's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
THESE are the types of situations that scare the hell out of me! I am happy that people want to carry but I feel like these are not folks I want carrying around me because in the long run who knows what may happen. -

My HCP instructor (a retired State trooper) offered to buy my Commander! -
It looked like a legitimate, well written questionnaire. I had assumed most of it but it is nice to see it!

MarkInNashville replied to serbu50's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I bought mine from Hornady. Actually I bought from A&H (and it was a Hornady but I listened to DLM and haven't been sorry I did). -
More like carrying a concealed weapon - probably never need it but if you do...

From my experience sending a handgun to Ruger the biggest pita was have to take it to the UPS hub (which for me was in Nashville). -
It worries me, gives me an ill feeling, and just pisses me off! They say we will NOT take your guns (as is evidenced in the 3 separate videos) but when it happens you will never hear any of them say, it happened and it is wrong. ... they will have an excuse why it was ok and, for that matter, why it should have happened.
