  1. So I know all you guys could fit the ammo you have in your house in a sandwich bag....lol So just curious how you would store your ammo if you had a decent amount. I am not real happy with my solution at the moment. I would like for it to be secure, but buying a safe just for ammo is probably not going to happen. Then there is protection from moisture. Not that I want to store it in an aquarium, but just to make sure my steel case does not rust. Also, having 25 ammo cans stacked up is not real handy if I need the bottom can. Plus space in my "armory" a.k.a. the garage is limited. So what do you guys use? Thanks in advance.
  2. I got my equipment and supplies from my dad. 7 truck loads from his house to mine and still boxes of lead ingots to haul this way. By his notes and invoices I have 3 cases of small pistol magnum primers and 1 case of small rifle magnum primers. Probable twice that much powder. He was big in shooting 38spl, 357, 9mm, 380 auto, 40sw, .223, 30car. and 7.62X39.
  3. I just got a Gempro 250 to replace my Lee Safety scale. My table for the scale consists of two 5 gallon buckets filled with concrete sitting one atop the other. These two buckets are perfect height when I'm sitting at my reloading bench and they offer a tremendous mass for isolating the scale from vibrations. The buckets are not connected in any way to my reloading bench, but they do sit approximately 4 inches to the left. The scale will be plugged into a surge protector and allowed to warm up prior to use. The scale will be cleaned prior to use along with the powder pan. I will use a Hornady powder trickler to fine tune charges than are dropped with a Lee Powder Measure. I hope to be able to use the wind screen that comes with the scale and I plan to use the included 20 gram check weight. I have one LED light directly over my reloading bench and two florescent lights in my shop. I am an inexperienced reloader so if there are any issues with my set up or concerns I should look into please feel free to let me know. Thanks.
  4. Anyone have a homemade potion to take lube off of cast bullets? Like to try my hand a powder coating... Thanks
  5. We are getting closer and closer to my 300 Blackout bullet to becoming a reality but I need some help. It is a 265+ grain bullet (depending on alloy) that I designed to feed in an AR15. It is the heaviest bullet that was designed specifically for the 300 Blackout. Everything about this bullet is optimized for the 300 Blackout. The case capacity, specifically how much was left for the powder after the bullet is seated, is optimized for the powders typically used in the 300 Blackout. That is because we all know that case fill and powder position can affect accuracy. So this bullet was designed to give the optimal space so your powders will not only burn more completely but also more consistently. It is that consistency that leads to accuracy. The nose profile is optimized for feeding in an AR 15 but care was also taken to make this bullet accurate in a widest variety of chambers possible. Because it was designed specifically for the 300 Blackout is also very forgiving when working up loads. Even without load development we are seeing positive results and those results will only get better as people use the bullet. Consistent 1.5 MOA groups using this cast bullet without ANY load development is what is being reported by some of my current testers. Those groups will shrink once we get into the load development phase of testing. I have several years in the project and we are really close to going into production but I am wanting to get more test data first. I am looking for some more people who want to try out these bullets. If anyone is interested please contact me. Prefer someone who is experienced at casting as I will send them one of the prototype molds to cast with. When these go into production I will also be looking for more people to test the production bullet. Those interested in testing the production bullets do not need experience in casting. I will submit another post when we are ready for people to test the production bullets.
  6. Academy is running a lot os sales on different ammo right now. I picked up the last three boxes of WWB 230gr FMJ 45 auto for $22.99/100.
  7. I just ordered Barnes Vor-TX 338 Lapua Magnum Ammo 280 Grain LRX Boat Tail for $2.25/round shipped. This is loaded with Lapua brass which alone is normally more than $2.25/round. https://www.targetsportsusa.com/barnes-tracking-point-vortx-338-lapua-magnum-ammo-280-grain-lrx-p-59085.aspx
  8. PSA has on clearance a 1000 round box of PMC Starfire 240 Gr JHP for 549.99 with free shipping. That comes out to $11 per box of 20. Pretty damn good price. I don't need 1000 rounds but would split it with someone if they wanted half.
  9. If you can't find 7828 I know where is. I saw this at Field & Stream in Hoover Alabama last weekend. I think there is an Oops in there somewhere. Maybe they thought they were ordering by the pound and not by the case? That was about half of what they had out. There was another shelf on the next isle that was pretty full.
  10. 5.56 ammo today's Cheaper Than Dirt email ad. $299 per 1000 for a couple of different brass case. $199 for steelcase. $259 for 1000 62 gr. brass--I'm guessing this one may be an error!

  12. I am a relatively new member, and have recently started reloading again, after a 30 year hiatus (reloaded mostly 45ACP, and .357 on a single stage in my younger years). currently, I am reloading only 9x19 on a 550B. The frustration I have is that the reload manuals, as well as the powder mfg don't show the bullets I am using (and yes the thought has occurred to me that I should be buying Sierra, Berry's, etc.). I have bought bullets from The Reloaders bench (FMJFN 124gr), as well as from Xtreme and Rocky mountain Reloaders (both TMJRN 124gr). I am trying different powders (Unique, Tightroup and Accurate#2 so far) these all seem to run well through several semiauto pistols. I also bought some FMJRN 115gr from Federal Armament, that I cant figure out at all (really bad Key holing/accuracy). so, what I am seeking is a way to cross reference the bullets I am using (now and future) to the loading information available. I have downloaded info from all the powder mfg I am using, and own the current Lee and Lyman 50th. I am sure there is a simple way to accomplish the goal, but my ignorance is keeping me from reaching it. any input is appreciated D3
  13. I visited my local GT Distributor today and found that they had Winchester Ranger T-Series ammo available AND on sale. I had been looking for that ammo for quite a while. They had boxes of .40 S&W 180 grain, 50rs/box for $16.00/box. I grabbed two boxes. I shot most of one box at the range and it definitely had some umph to the recoil (at least it seemed that way to me vs the 165 grain fmj and Speer Gold Dots I am used to. My question is does anyone here use that ammo and if so, is it better than say the Gold Dots or HST's or is it all just a matter of preference? I have read that they are basically the Black Talon without the black Lubalox coating on them. The photos I have seen of the expanded "talons" looks super wicked. I am going to find out if they may carry any of those rounds in 165 grains.
  14. I'm at my wit's end with my 550. The last 5 hours I've spent reloading have probably netted about 100 rounds. Today was no exception. I spent over an hour to get 32 rounds, which used 232 primers. How the hell does that happen you might ask. Well, I'll tell you. I loaded 32 rounds with only about 20 problems before I ran out of primers, then I put 100 primers in the tube only to have them end up all over my garage when they fell straight through. I thought it might have been because I had the handle down, so I put it back up and watched the next 100 do the same thing. Now, before I buy 10,000lbs of C4 and take this thing out to the dessert and blow it into pieces that even CSI mother ********** Miami wouldn't be able to positively identify, can anyone give me an idea what the problem might be? The last two times I've reloaded I've had to order parts before I could continue. If I have to order another part, I'm going the C4 route.
  15. Just noticed this popping up at Wally's the other day. I priced the 9mm and it was under .21/round out the door. For those who don't know, this is steel cased, but standard copper brass jacketed lead bullet, unlike the Ruskie stuff. I was on foot with already good bit of weight to carry home, so didn't grab any, but will next time (these are 150 round boxes). - OS
  16. Ammunition Depot has free shipping this weekend on any order over $200, before tax of course but still not bad.
  17. I ordered one of these a few months ago: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dillon-XL-650-SL900-Bearing-rotary-shell-plate-cam-follower-/322343414701 The guy sent me one, then I just got another one in the mail today. He said he didn't want it back. Anyone have a 650 and want it? first person to post here to lay claim gets it. PM me your shipping address.
  18. I am looking for a bunch of 5.56/223 brass, and when I say a bunch, I mean 1,000-2,000 lbs of it. I would prefer once fired, the cheaper the better. Dave has 1,000 lbs but it is new and primed. Wondering if anyone around here has a good source for any. I have a trade deal in the mix with a guy and he needs it for a project. let me know, thanks!
  19. Do any of you have any experience hunting black bears with 10mm? I am leaning toward the Underwood 220 grain hard cast. My weapon is a gen 4 Glock 20 with a 6" KKM barrel.
  20. Looking to pick up a box of .22 Short. Anyone seen any on the shelf in East TN?
  21. Having posted about the possibility of using a 22 magnum for coyotes, I got interested in the subject and saw many articles on using the 17HMR. It seemed to me that most articles favored the 22 mag to the 17HMR for larger predators such as coyotes. While I'm still on the side of a more reliable humane kill and feel that even the 22 mag is at the bottom of my list of coyote cartridges, I thought this information was very enlightening to both the 22 magnum guys and those that like the 17HMR. personally, I'm sticking with with a 44 magnum cause I really love to shoot the Marlin 1894 I have in that caliber and I have a lot of ammo for it I bought cheap from a neighbor that sold me the gun. http://www.chuckhawks.com/compared_17HMR_22WMR.htm
  22. Does anybody here load for any of the 32's? I just got a S&W model 30 in 32 Long and really like it. It is easy to reload and mild to shoot. Been kicking around the idea of getting either a 32Mag or 327Mag so I can shoot all the different 32's. Am kinda drawn to the Ruger SP101. Would like a S&W K frame, but way too expensive for me. Any suggestions?
  23. Did anyone else take advantage of Remington's Black Friday deal that you get $5 off per 50rd box of UMC bullets? There was a limit of 40 boxes and that's how many I bought. It's been about 2 months and I haven't received anything in the mail. Curious if anyone else on here did the same deal.
  24. One of my students just gave me some bullets. I said I dont reload .40, he says keep them anyway. Who wants them? Magtech .40 flat nose FMJ 180gr. Please, only face to face, I dont want to ship. I am in Murfreesboro and can meet at the airport. 100 bullet bag, it is opened but appears to be almost full-ffr1910
  25. A gunsmith who is a Bersa Firearms authorized warranty repair specialist posted an alert on the Bersa Chat board about suspected Federal .40 S&W ammo with lot number P42J518. Federal has been notified that the ammo may have pressure problems. Here is the thread where the claim is made: http://www.bersachat.com/forums/showthread.php?33975-Suspect-40-S-W-Federal-Ammo
