This based on a few decades in the gun biz.

All opinions are those of The Shocker and do not necessarily reflect those of the staff, management or sponsors of TGO.

Glock. LOG. Hasn't changed the grip girth since introduction 1991?

FNH. LOG. Fat and unwieldy.

Sig, Anchor. Too heavy and low cap.

XD...ha ha OK, slightly above the Dollar General HI Point.

Smith SS framed (1006) heavy, low cap and mags are obscenely expensive. Plus no parts as its been discontinued for a bit.

Megastar. Unicorn. Fat. 14rd but mags are 135 bucks ea. Cool Factor off the charts tho. (Waingro from HEAT)

BREN10. When you wanna be the coolest gun nerd ever. GG&G/VLTOR now owns all the IP for the BREN10, and its been fully redesigned to take Tanfoglio mags. Call them and demand production, Detective Sonny Crockett!

Tanfoglio. Great balance of price, girth and capacity. Hard to beat.

Smith M&P. The 4" is just a teeny bit bigger than a G19. Grip is SVELTE for 15rds. Mags aren't obscene. Show your Mama that you carry a big boy gun now.

Left off all 1911 types cause I live in the 21st century.

Fight Me. 😁

Your SIG comments are applicable to the P220 10mm, but not to the P320 10mm, which is the easiest shooting 10mm I've ever fired (although I haven't fired the S&W).  Of course, the P320 has its own challenges not related to the 10mm caliber....

Cheers,

Whisper

Rock Island Armory 1911 double stack 10mm. Is my only 10 auto atm. Very happy with it and 16 rounds. Inexpensive gun and magazines. So far mine has been very dependable. My dream 10 is a S&W 1006 or similar. I do have the S&W 610 wheel gun. It’s fun.

Couple things you may have missed in your ‘decades in the gun biz’

Glock indeed offers a less girthy large frame option with the SF. Ideal is the RTF2 SF from the popo special G21 though hard to come by. I repurposed one for my 20C and its just about right (for non Glock haters)

Gen3 part support is still live and well with many NOS parts available from Jack First,  Numrich, Midway and Brownells with the later being more limited. Just bought the decocker only levers and few internal parts for my 1066.

I pretty much support whatever someone chooses, It’s their money and preferences. Great to have all these options out there with the resurgence in 10mm.

Fujimo, I am with you. Carry a 7 shot K frame 357 snubbie every day. He completely forgot about us. Who needs a 10 MM!

The SF is essentially unobtainium.  ETA, corrected,  lots of 21SFs if you wanna pay. The 4s and 5s helped a bit with the backstraps. Guys who have them want real money for em now.

I spent years doing grip reductions and my best still can't come close to the slender shape of the M&P 10.

Hardly a Glock hater. Been carrying a 19 for most of those decades. 1989 started carrying a Gen 2. Still have a half dozen Gen 2s.

Don't take me too seriously, I don't.

I am about the furthest thing from a Glock "fanboy" as you will ever find.  I do own two but that's all.  A model 19 and a model 20 which is in 10 mm.   Yes, it has big grips, but I have big hands.  I did put a Talon grip wrap which gives a sandpaper type grip so it is locked in hand regardless of recoil or sweat.  I also have a Trijicon RMS on slide.

I gotta say that it has sure done a good job.

These pictures were taken prior to the Talon grips being put on.

The slide aesthetic is very nice.

I have an insane gen4 20 that I bought, basically because the factory finish, it's like ATACs. Like it was done with a sponge. Word is that Apollo coatings did them for G-money. I had to buy it. Too weird to pass up. It's not the Megastar but it's almost as cool.

No worries, just mentioning a couple things where reality may differ a bit. Didn’t call you a hater specially, general statement as referring to one ‘just about right’ is only works if someone is open to it l, which a hater aint gonna be.

fwiw, Gen 3 G20/21 SF’s are sold new at regular cheapish Glock prices. Not hard or expensive to get. bout the same as the xDM or M&P. Yeah, I got both those too 😉

I shot my Rock Island 2011this past Saturday.  Only shot 2 magazines but recoiled wasn’t bad.  Gun is heavy, which is why I stopped carrying my other 45s. I carried a full size 1911, then a commander, then an FN FNP-45USG with 2 15 round mags and one in the chamber for ages, but eventually, as I aged, it got to be just too heavy. I carry 37 rounds of 9mm in 2 mags now and it’s still a lot lighter. Not 45 or 10mm, though, LOL.
