If anyone in the Knoxville area has the urge and wants to give Gander Mountain your money they have 3 excellent 91/30's for $129.95 ea.

That's a few $ more than you would pay by ordering online, shipping, transfer, etc. But not a whole lot.

some of you girly types may be interested in one of these, it will fit a 91/30 too

MOSIN NAGAT M44 RUBBER RECOIL BUTT PAD

i want to add, I do not know who this vendor is. I just googled it and this is the first one listed. I have seen these for this same price at gun shows too. 15 bucks . So the price is fair anyway.

there is something very similair to that on ebay. for hte price they are likely a cheaper quality chinese production. the fitment quality could be hit and miss

If you get the right bullet size and load the M-44's can be very accurate. I have one that will shoot under 2" 5 shot groups at 100 yards with the stock open sights. I use to shoot it in a military carbine match my club use to have at 50 yards and I could put 20 shots inside 1".

Drank the kool-aid (or is that kvass?). Came home today with a 1929 Tula hex M91/30 (ex-Dragoon, maybe?)...3 of 4 serial numbers match (mag floor plate been renumbered), furniture in very good shape, bore and action look to be well-maintained. With sling and toothpick, out the door for $100. Way its raining tonight, may use it for an oar tomorrow...

FYI, that Czech stuff has a tendency to split cases from time to time as I discovered today. Not a problem for me. :) Just a Public Service Announcement.

My Ball Ammo surplus from Classic Arms does the same thing. I noticed it after a few boxes that the casings are split near the curvature right before the bullet. Its the Yugo stuff. I have some expensive stuff my bro in law sent (brass) stuff from GAGuns or something like that. That guns shoots great! My first rifle. 1926 that I refinished...looks like the red violin.

I have had split cases on every kind of surplus Mosin ammo. Except for the Yugo stuff that is brass cased.

the worst was some Hungarian stuff I had. Lots of split cases in it. I had one casing come apart in the chamber. I had to buy a broken shell extractor get it out.
