I believe it is of Israeli manufacture.

Ive shot a few hundred rounds of it. Serves its purpose at the range. Academy gets it in occasionally as well.

They've a decent price on tins of 7.62x39 as well. It shows "in stock". Maybe things are loosening up a bit.

Dicks sporting goods in Chattanooga has it. 9.99/ box with a 2 box limit.

What was this brand of 5.56 ammo selling for before the shortage? Dick's in Memphis had some for $9.99/box, but I passed on it. I have bought this brand before in pistol ammo and thought it was a commercial reload brand, but I could be wrong.

Independence Ammo is a weird operation.  They do not necessarily manufacture new ammo and this stuff may be Israeli surplus or new Israeli manufacture....according to the interwebz...at least it was in the past.

 

There's no telling.

 

Either way, $.55/round is still hard to stomach when $.35-.40 was the norm 6 months ago.

yep, Nov.2012 I paid $8/bx20 and that was "high", but it was for a class.  PMC I recall.  Lake City was going for around $380/1000 and everything else was lower.
