are gun shows a good place to sell a gun?

I have bought many guns at them over the years and have always noticed people lining up outside with their guns for sale. Just wondering of they seem to be a good place to sell? I always end up selling mine in a pinch on gunbroker or get screwed by sellng to a gun store. Trying to take my time selling my S&W M&P ar15 and want to get the best deal. Would trying to stand out there with everyone else be a good idea or a waste of time? I work weekends at a hospital so my weekend time is valuable. Or should I stick with gunbroker , have never had luck on arms list.

You should just pay for a benefactor membership here and sell it in the classifieds.  Virtually no worries about getting screwed over as the folks here are monitored and generally great folks to deal with.  Plus you are supporting the forum.  Well worth the money.

I've sold & traded many times here on the forum & have met some great people in the process, but have also had good luck privately selling mine at shows. Vendors usually won't give you anything for your guns, since they can get them wholesale, but lots of private individuals are always looking for a deal. People usually stop me before I get inside to see what I have. Once before a show, my dad & I were getting a few guns out of my car & some guys on their way in stopped & asked about them. Between the two of us we sold two & made a trade right there in the parking lot before we even made it to the front door.

I post whatever I want to sell here first and Gun Owners Club next.  I've never failed to sell whatever I've had posted.  I sold two pistols at the Camp Jordan show just by having a picture & prices printed out and stuck to my backpack.

Gub shows are a good place to sell guns. So are the classifieds on TGO. I'd try TGO first & go from there.

You will need to read &  meet the requirements fo the classifieds first tho. Easy!

thanks guys! i think i will just post it up here first. After all i have a few things to sell and it would be easy to sell in a locally based forum.

It is, and ultimately cheaper than gun shows. You can sell, trade, and put up want ads everyday for a year for the same price as 2-3 gun shows. Plus I've never had an unpleasant experience with anyone from TGO. Well worth it IMO.

I've had good luck with listing here as well as the gun shows. Modern guns seem to go faster/get better money for me here on TGO. I believe there is possibly a bit of a younger (due to having a more tech savvy, social media aware audience) group here on TGO interested in more of the black gun/semi auto persuasion.

I've done better at the gun shows with my older shotguns. In one case, I got nearly $100 more than I was asking here on TGO for an old LC Smith. I feel there are more vintage firearm collectors at some shows.

Also, I've made some great buddies through FTF sales here on TGO!

I've sold and traded enough guns at gun shows to arm a third world country. Just don't be afraid to have conversations with people, and avoid dealers. If you sell one to a dealer, you sold it for less than half price.

Also, don't get offended by lowball offers. Just say thanks but no thanks and move on.

Besides on here you might look and see if there is a Facebook group for your area. I'm on two in Chattanooga and have had very good transactions both buying and selling. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
