My child's pink Crickett has never even been seen by a minor without me there. She doesn't know where it or any other weapon is and if she did figure out where to look there would be a combination to get past.
It's complete lunacy that a mother lets a child sit in the front seat of a car with no seat belt and she is charged and held responsible if something terrible happens. When a gun is involved it's on the manufacturer or store or even gun owners. When are we going to say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH? What will it take to hold the media responsible for the misinformation and lies?

Oddly enough i gave my oldest grandson a rifle when he turned 5.  He has not shot his little brother or anyone else yet.  I guess he has not applied himself well enough.   But he is a decent little rifleman, now 10  who has long understood gun safety and the potential for damage they can cause if misused.

 

Of course he does not have unfettered access to it.  But he, as well as his little brother pay little attention to any gun here in the house.  No more than they do with my hammers or saws or other tools.

Whats stopping you from picking one up now and keeping it for her until she gets old enough. 

 

My little girl is 7 months old today,  I bought her a M&P 15-22 when she was still around a month old just because I wasn't sure if they would still be as cheap and available when she gets older.  Shell get to learn on that and my Ithica .22 that I learned how to shoot with

Except children are far more likely to drown in a swimming pool (1.2 per 100K) than be killed by an accidental shooting (0.2 per 100k) based on the latest mortality data from the CDC.

I bought one at Walmart years ago for my son when he was about 5.  They are VERY safe, single shot, bolt action rifles with a removable bolt and a key that locks the action.  This was complete parental negligence.  There were many opportunities to store that rifle safely.  I used to allow my son to carry it around on the property when we were going out shooting.  I just kept the bolt in my pocket.  He was carrying a stick that looked like a rifle without that bolt.

Given the current situation, what do we do about ammo?

 

I want to see this rifle (or several rifles) go to children who's parents truly don't have the extra funds to do this on their own...any suggestions?
